To be honest I was excited to try this product in sync with the rest of the range. I was that excited that I decided it would be a good idea to use this on the way home while sitting in traffic, this was a big mistake. My partner was horrified with the smell of this product, to which I can somewhat agree. I was expecting it to have a strong coconut scent but instead it gave of more of a chemical smell. Each time I have used it since I still get a distinct non-coconut, chemical type smell. On the plus side the product itself is much like other oils. I wouldn’t go out of my way to say it is amazing but is does the job. The bottle is good as it appears to be in a thick glass bottle, potentially good for accidents such as it being dropped. Would I repurchase this? Probably not, just because I wasn’t wowed by it and there are other ranges which I would like to try.

This is the last product in the L’Oreal elvive extraordinary oil coconut regime. I have tried a few supermarket branded oils the last few months and this one is so far my favorite. Im normally a high end hair care girl as I have salon bleached hair that is pink at the moment and it most defiantly needs all the help it can get! I can't rave enough about this oil! best oil i've used yet, i warmed it up in my hands like it said. It didn't leave my hair feeling really oily which was awesome as i have tried many different oils and they end up leaving my hair oily. I felt like my hair really absorbed the oil, I didn't put it near my roots. Preferred to use this product at the end so that the oils could dry in my hair. The price of this oil is really good as it's going to last me ages, i only use four pumps each time. It smells similar to the mask in this L'oreal range. I would defiantly purchase this in the future. Would recommend this oil to a friend.
Tips: Use with the other L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Coconut products.
I love a good hair oil and this one was really great! It comes in a sturdy glass bottle with a pump. It holds 100ml of oil which will last ages as you only use a little bit each time.
The oil itself is very lightweight, I use 3-4 pumps, rub my hands together then apply to damp hair, it does not leave any greasy feeling at all or make my hair feel limp and heavy.
After blow drying my hair is smooth and frizz free, it has a beautiful shine and smells incredible. I really love this oil!
I have also used it on dry hair to tame any Flyaways and it did a fantastic job, you only need a little bit, it is so effective.
Overall this is a beautiful hair oil which I will gladly keep using and would happily repurchase when it runs out. Love it!
Liquid gold! A beautiful coconut smelling transparent oil. Cant get over how amazing this scent is.
I love the glass bottle that it comes in to make it seem even more luxurious.
This oil re-enlivens dry, lifeless hair.
This oil is going to last such a long time, as you really only need a couple of drops! Once I have blow-dried my hair I warm 2-3 drops of the oil up in my hands and then run my fingers down my hair - this definitely helps combat the frizziness I get after having blow-dried my hair!
Doesn't leave my hair oily at all - and even the next day my hair is non-greasy which is good, so no need to wash the next day!
Tips: Again - not for oily hair - good for those with frizzy/dry hair :)
Once again super excited to be reviewing this range. The bottle is a really generous 100ml and is glass. It has a good pump on it so thats good to not get too much into your hand as we all know too much oil is never a good thing. Its got the same yummy coconut smell that this range is doing so well with and it feels nice and lightweight. Ive used it a few times on dry and wet hair and to style with. My favourite is on dry hair as then you can see if you've put enough on as with wet hair its harder to tell. The second time i used it i put a couple of pumps into my hand and rubbed hands together and applied it over my already straightened hair and it just made it feel so soft and luxurious, this lasted all day so its a definite keep for me. Ive used it on my hair wet also and it makes your hair nice and soft once its dry but i think the benefits would take longer to see. Im really impressed with the smell and how lightweight it is so would definitely recommend it. It says on the bottle you can use it before shampooing for a deep treatment so i might try this down the track. Although that kinda feels like a waste in my mind :)
Tips: Try it on dry hair first to see how much you really need. :)
The L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Coconut hair oil is a good basic styling oil which will last for ages.
This hair oil is pretty light compared to others that I have used in the past. There is only a slight coconut scent - which is lovely. It is good for adding shine and taming fly-aways when finishing off a hairstyle.
I would have loved it more if it was also a heat protectant but that would cost a lot more.
Tips: Start with a little amount and add more if you need it. Work into the tips of your hair if you have dry hair.
I really enjoyed this product, although at first I certainly applied too much to my hair and ended up with some over oiled bits! The smell is awesome - feels tropical and makes me wish I was in a slightly more tropical location as well. The oil itself was a lot runnier and lighter than I had expected, hence putting too much in the first time. Once I got the hang of it I put a few drops in my palms, rubbed them together and then ran my hands through my hair (ends to roots, whilst damp). I then brushed it through and allowed to dry normally - it gave enough shine and moisture to stop frizzies and flyaways, but wasn't too heavy. The product can be used on dry hair as well and I would definitely make use of it to freshen up my hair during styling on the inbetween hair washing days. Really nice product and one I'll keep using, especially given it's quite an affordable product and should last a long time.
Tips: A little goes a long way and it's easy to over-do.
I liked the oil, as it tamed fly aways, but did find it took a little bit to get right.
It was a lot heavier to use, and again a little bit went a long way. One squirt in my hands, rubbing them together and through a high pony was HEAPS- and I have very, very long hair.
I loved the smell, and how soft it felt all day- I couldn't stop touching it!
I would use it again, to tame fly away, more after straightening and styling- otherwise it may be a tad too rich. This could be due to the watery texture- but again this made it easier to use. I think its more of a product you just have to play with to get it right!
For someone with dry hair- this would be amazing.
After washing and conditioning I towel dried my hair and applied around 2-3 drops of the hair oil as instructed I rubbed it in my hands to warm it then ran my hands through my hair paying particular attention to the sides where my hair has a tendency to stick out and frizz. There was a small oily smell not unpleasant as such but not great. I noticed that the style I had styled my hair into was staying put and wondered if that would last as normally I find having fine hair no style stays put. Usually when I apply any extra product to my hair, straight away it weights it down but this was not happening. There was no oily greasy feel either which was nice. 4 hours later and my hair felt great, clean not weighted down at all in fact quite bouncy and still in the general style I combed it into. I have repeated the above process each time I have washed my hair in the last two weeks and so far I am getting the same results. I have not noticed, as yet, any product build up which usually makes my hair go limp. I am very happy with the hair oil it has tamed my frizzes, given it a lovely shine and seems to encourage the natural waves I have. I will continue to use this product as I like the results so far also I want to see how they go in a longer test environment.
Tips: 2 drops is plenty for short hair using more resulted in the greasy look initially.
I was fortunate to receive the collecting of L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil range to try and review. I loved all of the products but the coconut hair oil was the stand out product for me.
I have very fine hair which is dry on the ends with fairly normal roots. Because it is so fine it easily looks weighed down especially with products that are designed to nourish the hair. This oil does not weigh my hair down or give it a horrible oiled look like all of the other hair oils I have tried.
The oil comes in an attractive gold glass bottle with a pump top which makes it simple to get the correct amount of product. It has a lovely coconut smell which leaves a long lasting fragrance on the hair.
I applied part of a pump to my hands before rubbing them together and running through my damp hair before blow-drying. It says on the packet that it can be used this way or on dry hair to transform hair into a soft and silky mane or to tame flyaways.
My hair is in better condition since using this range of products and the oil really has helped to transform my hair. For the RRP price of $19.99 this is an incredible product. I would recommend this product looking for a hair oil who has found other argan type of oils to heavy as it really does work.
Tips: Start at the ends of your hair where it really needs it!
