Coconut Goodness

I have curly hair and while it looks like there is a lot it is quite fine. So this leaves me very prone to frizzy, fly-aways and I constantly feel like my hair is dry or conversely very flat from product. Hence I was interested in trying this product out because of the promise of extra hydration. I found that this shampoo was perhaps a little more drying than the normal shampoo I use - my hair certainly felt a little bit squeaky. But I did use this shampoo in conjunction with the conditioner, which was so thick and hydrating it balanced out the 'squeaky clean'. So by itself I think it would be too drying! The smell on this shampoo was divine, but then I am a bit of a sucker for coconut aromas. I did notice that while it seemed drying it didn't really foam as much as I normally expect a shampoo to - no complaints on that front though.

Tips: Best used in conjunction with the conditioner or a moisturising treatment to avoid drying out your hair.

Definitely Lightweight

It always makes me really happy to see such a big bottle of shampoo and conditioner as it is frustrating to replace! The smell of this is divine, and although it doesn't lather up as much as other shampoos- (not a bad thing) a little goes a long way! It doesn't feel like it is stripping my hair of its natural oils but my hair is always clean and shiny after use. It is a thinner consistency than other shampoos, but all in all a really easy use, great results shampoo. I even found I could use less, and it got the job done better than other shampoos.

Elvive Extraordinary Oil (Fine Coconut Oil) Shampo

I was impressed with the size of the bottle at 325mls as many supermarket shampoos are sitting at the 250ml mark. The packaging is neither here or there for me I like to choose on the quality of the product and if it does what it claims to do. However having said that, I do need the bottles to stay closed in my gym bag whilst travelling between home and pools, which both the shampoo and conditioner does, you just need to ensure you hear the little click when you push the lid down. The first time I used the shampoo I noticed a mild but pleasant smell of coconut. The coconut smell lasted most of the day and I found I only needed about 1 teaspoon of the product to throughly lather up and wash my hair and with the big bottle I felt this was economical. I can see it lasting for quite some time even though I wash regularly. The shampoo lathered well and rinsed easily, my hair felt clean and soft, not stripped, just clean.

Tips: Use a small amount it lathers up well

A nicely scented gentle shampoo

This a really good size bottle of shampoo for the price. A little goes a very very long way. The bottle itself is really large, but easy to get product out of. There’s no hand grip workouts with dispensing this shampoo.

To use, it takes very little to get a lot of suds, and applying it’s not a heavy feeling shampoo, but you feel like you are getting your hair clean without stripping it of all natural oils. It’s quick to rinse off, and my hair was left feeling incredibly soft and smooth. Definitely not that squeaky clean feeling you get from some shampoo's

It’s got quite a subtle coconut scent to it, which is quite nice. All in all, it’s not a shampoo that wow’d me, but there was nothing bad about the experience either. My hair did feel a little more hydrated than some other ‘nourishing’ shampoo’s I've tried. I have coloured hair, and didn’t see any colour fade and I had used this the day after colouring!

There’s other favourites from L’oreal that I would possibly choose first, mostly based on ingredients, but I wouldn’t snub this as its definitely one of their better ones for dry hair - and delivers on softness like some of my favourites. On it's own it doesn't conquer all my 'dry hair' woes, but as a regime it's got great potential!

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Coconut Shampoo

This product has a great fragrance and lathers up very well. My hair is much smoother and feels silkier after using for a week. It has added shine to my hair which I like. I would definitely buy again

Tips: You don't need a huge amount of shampoo to get the full effect

Amazing 'Extraordinary' Shampoo

I adored this shampoo! Other than the smell(coconut, YUM!) the consistency wasn't too thick and didn't foam up like crazy either. I was expecting my hair to feel drier than normal with the lack of foam but I was pleasantly surprised. It left my hair feeling 'squeaky' clean and way smoother than it has been in years. For the price, I would highly recommend it if you have dry hair, it would be crazy not to give it a go.

Would not us again on my hair type

The Loreal extraordinary shampoo was not good on my hair type. It made my hair exceptionally knotty and dry. I would not use again and this is why:

The extraordinary shampoo comes in a relatively large 325mL plastic see-through orange bottle with a fresh and captivating label design that stands out on the supermarket shelf. The lid, like most shampoo bottles, is a flip open and easy to use whilst in the shower. The consistency is relatively runny but also gel-like. The fragrance, like the other Loreal extraordinary products, is the same lovely sweet coconut scent which I really like!

Application of the shampoo is easy with the flip-open lid and readily foams up when massaged into hair and scalp. Not much product is required for a thorough wash.

My hair can be very knotty, frizzy and sometimes quite dry. Unfortunately, the application of the extraordinary shampoo made my hair go into a knotted, dry mass in the shower to the point where the conditioner that followed was struggling to have a good effect. This is not what I want in a shampoo, even if it technically washes my hair well. It really made my hair feel awful.

The claim on the packaging states the shampoo is 'nourishing' to the hair, but it honestly felt like it was damaging my hair and setting me up for a bad hair day of flat, dry, frizzy and knotty hair.

Personally, I wash my hair about 4-5 times per week, but not always using shampoo. At $7.99 per 325mL bottle, I would expect the shampoo to last me a good 1-2 months. Compared to other shampoos, I would say this is middle to the upper price range.

Overall, I am disappointed with how the shampoo made my hair feel, both during and after application. For this reason, I would not use this product again after finishing my current bottle.

Would I recommend this? Not on my hair type: thick, curly, blonde.

Tips: This review is for the shampoo solely on its own. When used as part of the Extraordinary regime (shampoo + conditioner + mask + oil) my hair was left in good condition due to how good the conditioner and hair mask are.

Best experience ever!!!!

This shampoo is amazing!!! From the start to the feel at the end after your hair is dried! I have very long thick hair so the fact that it easily lathered was a plus, didn’t need to use half a bottle to clean my hair! The smell was amazing and normally I find it quite hard to wash shampoo out of my hair but this shampoo easily rinsed out! Now I have to find a hiding place from my stepdaughter who used it and loves it!!

Shmpoo Heaven

I was excited to receive this shampoo to trial as I am a big fan of L’Oreal. The shampoo comes in a large 325ml plastic bottle with a pop top. It is brown, which I expect from the packaging of a coconut flavoured L’Oreal product! It is for normal to dry hair which is ideal for me as I have dry hair.

The product is thick and clear – I like clear shampoos – no staining to my white hair. The scent, oh my my the scent! It is a very delicious coconut scent, which somehow also has an undertone of smells-like-a-hair-product about it. What a delicious way to start the day.

The product claims to be a weightless nutrition shampoo which is a perfect dose of nutrition for free flowing hair and infinite softness. My hair certainly does feel soft and weightless after using this shampoo. And also very clean. It doesn’t lather a lot, but that’s fine by me. It doesn’t leave any residue or leave my hair feeling greasy or limp.

At $7.99 it is a great price for a large bottle of a great product. I would definitely buy it again.

Tips: Use with the conditioner at least, and the mask and oil if you can.

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Coconut Shampoo

I have a soft spot for L'Oreal Elvive range after living in the UK on a budget. I mostly use salon shampoos now but was very excited to be given the opportunity to try the Extraordinary Oil Coconut range!

I have very fine hair that is dry on the ends but normal towards the roots, this combination means that most hair products weigh my hair down but this shampoo has left my hair feeling great.

The yellow/gold packaging is attractive and the bottle is well designed so it can stand upside down to get all of the product easily out of the bottle. The smell is lovely with the coconut standing out. The shampoo foams easily and only a small amount is needed. This shampoo doesn't give that horrible squeaky feeling that some shampoos give. A big personal bonus, no itchy scalp!

For the recommended retail price of $7.99 you really can't go wrong with this shampoo. I would recommend it to anyone with fine hair that is also dry. This is a great inexpensive shampoo that cleans well, doesn't weigh down hair and nourishes!

Tips: Great on its own but fabulous used with other L'oreal Elivive Extraordinary Oil Coconut range.
