Although I may be a little bias, I certainly prefer salon shampoos over this. It smells amazing!!! It leaves tour hair feeling clean and fresh however I find that after a couple of days it is really oily and I use to be able to wash my hair every 4 or so days.

Tips: Make sure you always shampoo twice! The first one to open the cuticle and the second to wash out all the dirt!
I wouldn't say I'm in love, but I do really like and enjoy using this shampoo. It has a lovely creamy texture, a pleasant scent and (along with the conditioner) made my hair so soft. Usually I use a leave in conditioner or oil after I wash my hair, but to put this to the test I didn't and I was pleasantly surprised. My hair was soft, manageable and dare I say it it did feel stronger and nicer at the ends. While I do chop and change a lot with my shampoo, I would repurchase this in future.
Tips: Shampoo your hair, rinse and then shampoo again once or twice a week to remove product build up. It makes your conditioning treatment more effective too (in my opinion).
Ok, so having drier, naturally curly, thick hair it is a nightmare trying to find a shampoo that doesn't add to the frizz factor and just leave my hair floppy and limp once washed (you know what I mean) so I was please toy surprised with the result for the most part , I would definitely not use it without the conditioner as it would leave my hair too stripped - in saying that I honestly was really happy with the results when used in combination with the repair conditioner. It is hard to find shampoo that works for hair like mine so I am wrapped, if you have naturally curly, dry and frizz prone hair then this shampoo is something you should absolutely try.
Tips: Double wash with small amount of shampoo - a little goes a very, very long way and follow up immediately with the loreal repair conditioner (tip for conditioner - makes a great leave in treatment when scrunched through dry hair not heavy or slimy).
The shampoo has a nice floral scent, not too heavy, and lathers up easily. I have thick hair and often need to use large amounts of product but this wasn't the case. The shampoo works through the hair and rinds out easily. I have recently coloured my hair, blonde, and after using the shampoo and conditioner my hair is soft and shiny showing very little, if any damage. Will definitely be buying in the future.
Okay so for reference this review really works for both the shampoo and conditioner as a regime as I used them together. The product I'll mostly be comparing it to is the redken extreme shampoo and conditioner which is what I normally use.
First off let me just say that it does what it says it does, my hair felt silky and soft after use. Now, I'm not sure it quite repairs as much as I would like as it doesn't seem to have the protein amount of the redken extreme range (and fair enough, protein is expensive!) but hair was soft and silky so there's a win right away.
Secondly, the price point is great! I have long thick hair and I'd expect these bottles to last about a month (250ml each) and at about $9 it's exceptional value for money.
The consistency is nice and thick so you can apply the conditioner and not worry so much about it sliding off or disappearing into the abyss of your hair.
The smell is fantastic, not cloyingly sweet or overly chemically just a nice salon shampoo smell.
After trialling the shampoo and conditioner I've found my hair has maintained it's condition from my redken use which is encouraging as I'd love to switch to something a bit more affordable or atleast to have as a backup when travelling for work and not wanting to take the big spa size bottles.
All in all I think for maintaining hair that has been previously treated with protein treatments to build up hair condition after serious damage the total repair range would be a great candidate. Perhaps not strong enough to revive hair from multiple bleachings but certainly from heat damage or for hair that is naturally brittle.
If there's one thing I didn't quite like it was the generic squeeze type bottle, I love the ease of a pump bottle in the shower so that took a bit of getting used to but that's just a personal preference.
I didn't notice any odd build up as a result of using the total repair range and my hair continued to feel nice and light if hair clarity is a big concern of yours.
Tips: If you're like me and prefer a pump bottle go to payless plastics or storage box and get a pump bottle to pop the product in.
If you're wanting to repair severely damaged hair go to a hair dresser and find an appropriate protein treatment then follow up and maintain with the total care range for happy hair!
I was thrilled to get the product in the post and because it was L'Oreal I was expecting great things. I have fine dry hair but with oily roots so was hoping for a bit of a transformation. The scent was fine, nice but not too strong and the texture of the shampoo nice to touch. However, I found that it did not lather well so needed more than my usual shampoo. As long as I used it with conditioner, my hair combed out fine. My hair felt nice for the first day but I found that after that, my scalp became itchy and a little oily - far sooner than my usual shampoo. After weeks of using the product, I can't say that I have noticed any differnce to the texture of my hair. It may not be 'lifeless' but it certainly doesn't look or feel 'repaired'.
Tips: ok for a daily use shampoo with a good conditioner
This shampoo is pretty good for one you can find on supermarket shelves. After using it my hair felt fuller with a lot more volume & I noticed a reduction in hairbreakage. I also really quite like the smell.
Tips: This product works best followed by the conditioner & a conditioning treatment.
I really think this shampoo worked well at short term repair for my hair- it made it less dry and brittle at the ends, which was very noticable, it was also a lot shinier. It also smelled very nice. It wasn't long term change though, I only found this change in my hair to last for like a day after washing, so you really need to wash every second day or it gets greasy and dry at the tips. But it's worth the more frequent washes for the positive changes I did notice with the shampoo over all :)
Tips: Need to wash every second day as it got greasy quicker than other shampoos
My hair felt slicker and softer than usual. It cleaned my hair so that it felt clean and not oily or dry. One application if shampoo I felt was enough but for long hair maybe a second application. Instead of the itchy feeling you get when your hair is in a hat all day in a hot kitchen, it still felt soft and clean. It gave my hair more volume not that it needed it but each strand was soft.
Tips: None that I can think of.
As i straighten my hair on a daily basis, my hair is very damaged. Its not as strong and healthy looking as it should be. After using the Total Repair 5 Restoring Shampoo, it has left my hair feeling silky soft, feels and looks much healthier than what it was before. My hair has become more stronger and visually looks more fuller, with less split ends, and dryness.
