When I recieved the L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss hair dye I wasn't expecting too much. I was expecting it to be like all the other packet dyes I've tried and it not to shout out anything special. Boy was I wrong! This hair dye, although I ordered one of the same colour as my current hair, made my colour shine and my hair was so soft afterwards. Even after days of using it my hair still felt wonderful and on par with some salon quality dyes I've had. Will definitely re-purchase.

I really liked this colour. It was easy to apply and it smelt nice - alot of colours have a horrible strong smell but this one was pleasent :) I got the dark brown, it had good covereage and was nice and glossy. The only thing that I found was that the gloves were a lot tighter than other brands which was strange. I'm probably a medium glove size so I think that a large would stuggle to get their hands in. Apart from that, I would definitely recommend to others. And will be using it again
Tips: Have a soare pair of larger gloves :)
I have used the same brand and same hair colour product for many years, so was a little apprehensive at trying a new brand and colour. I waited as long as possible to try this out so I could be sure of having a few grey hairs to 'hide'. I read the whole instruction sheet through first to be certain I followed all the steps. The sheet was clear, not too wordy and easy to understand. I was pleasantly surprised to discover the smell to be not as intense as my previous brand, and in fact didn't drip as much either. The Creme was easy to apply with just the nossle and helped by massaging in with the provided gloves (which were a very snug fit!). I was very pleased with the end colour result which was very natural and completely covered my 'greys'. The shine was great and the colour evenly spread.
Tips: I have very long hair so use a disposable shower cap after the colour iis applied to save it spreading to clothes or towels.
I have very few negatives to say about this product, from start to finish it is simple. I tried the 316 Plum colour and it is the exact colour I have been trying to achieve in my hair for a long time. It had a pleasant fragrance to it, and wasn't over powering. I love that it's ammonia free as I have sensitive skin and usually experience a great deal of itching during and after colouring my hair but have had none of that. The colour is even and actually what it said it would be. The creme gloss conditioner is devine and pleasantly scented. However I wouldn't use it wash after wash as it is a very deep conditioner and I have naturally oily hair. The only downfall was the gloves were on the slightly too small size, and I don't have overly large hands so that was a little annoying. But all in all it's a great product. Coming from a hairdressing background I was pleasantly surprised how well this product works! Usually after dying my hair with box dye's it feels quite brittle and dry, however this time around my hair was left softer than before. No knots and tangles. I will definitely be using this product from here on out.
Tips: When using ANY red based dyes, always ensure you wash your hair in cold water and ensure that you do not go to bed with wet hair.
Perhaps if you have slightly larger than normal or even normal sized hands you may want to use other gloves as the ones that come with it are while good quality quite small and tight.
I actually really loved this product. Although ipicked the wrong colour which did not show in full effect on my natural hair the resuts were still great. It did not drip, was easy to apply and there was a good amount of product in the bottle. After washing and drying i straightened my hair and it was the healthiest it has looked for a longtime. I had a natural glossy shine and it felt so soft. It looked just like the packaging. I also really liked the conditioner that came with the product. Smelt divine. would recommend, just make sure you pick the right color.:)
Tips: If you have naturally dark hair, pick a dark shade for a shiny healthy look :)
I was super excited to trial this product as I had often seen it in the supermarket but as it was a bit more expensive then my original go-to hair dye that I knew covered my greys I'd been a bit apprehensive about trying a new product. This dye certainly was better than I expected and I would definitely buy this again.
The instruction sheet was clear with good pictures and wording. The info sheet gave good tips for if hair had been coloured +/- 3months and if covering grey hair was your goal. The gloves were certainly not as big as most home dye products - if you have small to average sized hands they would be great, if you have larger hands (like me :)), these gloves would definitely be too small.
The dye itself was easy to mix and apply. The smell was actually quite nice :) It had a very faint chemical smell - no where near as strong as other supermarket dyes! If you have thick hair or long hair past your shoulders you would definitely need more than one bottle - I have thick wavy hair midway between my chin and shoulders and there was only just enough product to cover my hair.
The dye turned very dark very quickly - I chose a medium-dark brown colour and by 15mins I was starting to get alarmed my hair would turn out black so I only left the dye on for 20 mins (they recommend 25mins if trying to cover greys). Great even and natural colour. Initially it did come out darker then the colour on the box but within a few washes it faded nicely to the colour on the box and has not faded more than that yet. It did give good coverage of greys, however a few have started showing through after approx. 1 1/2weeks after dying hair. My hair had a great shine to it and didn't seem quite so "damaged" as it often does after dying it so would definitely consider using this product again. Heaps of condition was given in the bottle - enough for me to use it twice which was great!
Well worth the cost and so far has done a great job - will be interesting to see how long it last for!
I trialled the shade 1021 Very Light Pearl Blonde in the hope that it would make my bleach blonde hair a more natural shade of blonde, but the dye didn't seem to change my hair colour at all - the only difference I noticed was that my roots became a slightly lighter gingery colour.
This dye is really easy to use, with normal home colouring bottles and tubes, and the formula is really nice - lovely to not have that awful ammonia smell! I did find that the application bottle wasn't very strong and made it hard to get the last of the product out, but I loved that I only needed to use one box on my long hair which usually needs at least two. I was also pleasantly surprised by the relatively big bottle of conditioner that was provided as usually I need to add my own conditioner as well as I never have enough.
However, that's where the pros end for me as my colour did not change at all. Perhaps the box I got was a dud because all the other reviews are raving, or maybe it was because I wasn't trying to dramatically change my hair colour, but my hair is no different before and after using this product. My hair does seem shinier however, but as a result of my hair dying experience I won't be trying this product (or at least this shade) again.
I chose the Mahogany and found the dye easy to mix it was a good consistency so not runny. My hair looked shiny afterwards and smelt nice, so it does what it says it will. Sometimes after dyeing my hair feels dry and rough but this time it is soft. The conditioner is a good size. The price is more than i usually pay for other dyes but would buy it again when its on special.
This review is for caramel colour. outside packaging is nice and colourful. usual clear applicator bottle, two hand glove, easy instruction sheet, colour and conditioner. Consistency is thick when mixed together, and easy to apply to hair. Smell is nice, no ammonia and not very heavy. I followed the instruction as to damp hair and towel dry. since my hair was highlighted and I needed to re-toned it different colour it worked for me. when applying colour I worked from roots to end and left it for required time washed with warm water and applied jelly conditioner. I got nice caramel colour on my highlighted hair. Disappointed as it did not colour grey hair that much. Yes I will buy again to re-tone my highlighted hair..
Tips: yes.. follow instruction paper carefully and do allergy test first, if its your first time.
This was a good hair dye. Loved the colour I got but due to not dying my hair in about a year I had a bit ofregrowth so i have 2 different colours in my hair. So i probably needed 2 packs of it. Will just need to dye it again depending on how much the L'Oreal casting creme costs I would by that one. Also the gloves that come with it are great so much better than I've used with other brands
