First of all I love the name of the colour! And I love the shade!! I have nothing like this so was quite pleased to be selected to trial this polish! I love the small compact bottles that L'oreal have and the large brushes they use for their polishes! Naturally I expected the same with this product, except when I unscrewed the the brush the brush stayed in the bottle and dislodged from the cap! Easy fix however by re screwing and unscrewing again. I was very intrigued to see what this wax effect would be like and applied my coats, it's definitely a three coat polish. it didn't take too long to dry either which is KEY! And the effect is so strange, like normal glossy nail pollsh without the sheen. Yet waxy and latexy, this is probably why it started to chip after two days as I could not stop touching it!! Next time a good quality top coat would be needed for staying power however it would take away from the wax effect :( I'd still buy again!

Tips: Top coat always needed and three coats of polish
It's always a treat to choose a new colour, something "out of the box" that is inspiring and creates a difference. I put my hand up for the Grey-Aux Chandelles and looked forward to my next back fill at the nail bar. I like taking my own colour and they know I like to ring the changes! So today was The Day. Newly finished nails all ready for ... Shades of Grey. Hmm, the first coat looked awfully thin, the second was weakly better. The waxy finish looked a bit like a canary's egg (or similar!). So I said, paint one nail silver, and she did - it brightened the effect. Then we applied a third coat and on one hand a clear finish and on the other a fourth coat. The shiny nails are quite a nice colour (with the silver ring finger) and the waxy grey is, well, still a bit egg-like. One shade of fifty I might do this again; its really not sexy, nor meltingly seductive. I'm not loving the colour though I have had great reactions from various people.
Tips: Not really
This polish has many things for it, but also a couple against. Let's start from the top. The bottle is sleek and slim, a little on the small side but that is reflected in the price of course, $10 is a great price for an on trend colour. The brush, however, is glorious! The brush is wider than usual, and flattened, but the best feature is the slightly curved tip which makes an amazing job of doing 'corners'. If only all polishes had this wonderful brush! The colour IS luminous, as the introduction says, in fact this colour is just beautiful. It is a soft 'dove' gray, tending toward lavendar in some lights. The texture is a little unusual, quite thick and quick drying which meant I had to be careful to pull the brush right to the tips because it won't swim there itself like with some polishes. And the finish is actually semi matte (the 'wax' finish they refer to) which was unexpected but really lovely. It makes this polish quite unique. My only other reservation is that I needed 3 full coats to get good coverage, whereas usually two would suffice with other polishes. Even with three coats there are some thinner areas which is all part of the wax look I guess, but I do like a solid coating on my nails. Overall, I will use this polish again because I love the colour and the brush. Maybe I'll get used to the texture and the finish over time.
Tips: Pull the brush out right to the tips. Use 3 coats to get solid coverage. Enjoy the semi matte finish and the wonderful shaped brush :)
I tried shade 885 of this nail polish and there are 5 other grey shades. I have to say it went on like no nail polish I've used. Smooth and spread evenly with very little effort. I often miss a spot down the side of my nail but not with this. First coat was a little thin and the second coat provided more coverage. I can still see the whites of my nails at arms length though so it has a slight translucence to it. It looks fantastic though! It looks like I’ve dipped my nails in a thick grey wax just like the name on the bottle. It appears quite matte but gives off the dull reflection that melted wax gives. I would certainly use this again and will be recommending it to friends to try out! It's subtle and looks classy.
Tips: For a full coverage with no translucence I would recommend applying your base and top coat very liberally or perhaps a 3rd coat. I wasn't stingy with applying but I think a 3rd coat for me wouldn't go a miss.
Firstly, i love the loreal Paris range of nail polishes. They come in cute, small bottles, which makes them so affordable. Since i have never ever finished a whole nail polish, smaller size nail polishes suit me perfectly.
Perhaps the thing i love most about this range of nail polishes is the brush. This brush is near perfection. It is thick, and wide and has a perfect rounded edge which lets you get up nice and close to your cuticle, providing perfect application.
However, This formula could be considered thin , so two coats is essential, although i find three coats provides the perfect coverage for this nail polish. I know what your thinking, three coats of nail polishes? This nail polish bottle will be empty before you know it.. and your not wrong. In fact, because i use this colour so much, there is only about 1/3 of the bottle left, and when the nailpolish gets this low, it is a bit more tricky to get a perfect application because i just can't get enough nail polish on the brush. Although with patience and time, a good looking nail can be achieved, i now only reach for this colour when i have the time to get the nail polish out of the bottle. I really wish this nail wand hit the very bottom of the bottle so it would make this easier, but lets face it, this seems to be a common issue with most nail polishes.
Overall a gorgeous colour, a great brush, decent price, and application is a breeze (unless your running low). This is worth a try for sure.
I was sent this as part of a trial. I was really plesantly suprised with this nail polish actually. I applied it I one two and three layers to give this a thorough test. I really like the way it truely does look like wax. The colour is a bery subtle grey and looks great with the fluro orange I paired it with. The one layer nails were very translucent and didnt have very much staying power. The three layer nail was just the right amount of opaque and actually stayed on very well, it didnt even chip for the first three days and even then it was a very small chip on the very tip of the nail. Two layers was as youd expect and right in the middle. The formula was a bot thicker than I expected it to be but it was a big deal the packaging is beautiful and so classy, the gold lid and sleek bottle makes it appear so much more expensive than it really is. The only thing I would change is the size of the bottle because I want loads of this awesome colour,$9.99 you can always get more.
Tips: Apply 3 layers for the ultimate opacity and effect
I have never used a wax effect before so was so surprised at the finish! Super cool for when you feel like something a bit moody and different. The curved tip on the brush is amazing and something I've not seen before, makes getting a finish flush with your cuticles much easier. The smaller bottle size is interesting, but a fair price at $9.99. This shade of grey is perfect for matching with bright accents or as a on trend monochrome statement colour. Good value and will be purchasing more from this range.
Tips: Need 3 coats to achieve opaque finish.
I brought this after seeing it in a Beauty Poll on here, and I am in love! I had been searching for a colour like this for such a long time and once I saw this I had to get it.
It is a light blue based grey and looks stunning, these polishes have a built in top coat to achieve the finish - this shade has the finish of 'wax effect' and gives a semi-matte finish once dried. I really love this finish as it is a bit different as it isn't a pure matte, you can also add an additional top coat if needed to create the traditional glossy finish as well.
I have worn it both ways and my gosh, the staying power is amazing minimum of 5 days wear before a slight chip even took place!
The colour is also not super sheer like some paler shades can be and you can create an opaque look with just two coats.
I love the colour, the finish, the packaging and the price of this product and definitely want to try more in this collection!
Gorgeous wee bottle with a gold lid. So this went on lovely so easy fast setting beautiful Matt grey I have been wearing it for three days done the dishes and whatnot and no chips or anything it is very different from any other polish it is like you have dipped your nails in fine wax it's very cool.
Tips: I found two coats was plenty and did the job nicely.
9.99 is considered extremely affordable for nail polish and even though the price was good the product wasn't.
The product is very sheer upon application and streaky with the first coat. I had to apply multiple coats.
On one had I applied 3 coats with no top coat and on the other 3 coats with a basic top and base coats.
The hand with no top coat chipped within a day. So it is a product that's needs top coat but the down side to using top coat is the finish is not the same.
I found that the brush was frayed out also which made application hard.
In my opinion this is a waste of $9.99 as it wasn't long lasting nor opaque and difficult to apply.
Tips: Apply thin layers and wait for the polish to dry to a achieve a opaque finish.
