My hair is a dyed dark cool brown colour that has grey regrowth within a week of leaving the hair salon and the instant root concealer spray magically matches my hair colour perfectly ... and it really works! I sprayed it on and my grey regrowth vanished before my eyes and it did not reappear until I washed my hair ... so great! It dried quite quickly and did not transfer onto my clothes whilst dressing and undressing and did not transfer onto my hand if I ran my fingers through my hair. It comes in a small sized bottle for ease of holding and has a thin nozzle that feels like it should have given me real accuracy when spraying however I felt like I had to push down quite hard and then it all comes out quite quick defeating the whole purpose of a precise application. It also mentions holding it 10cm away from your roots and doing it in a light stream but by doing that I ended up with brown spots all over my forehead which are easy to wipe off with a makeup wipe. I did find it much easier and tidier doing it in small spurts and closer to my head. I thought I had finally mastered the spraying technique, as I was only getting a couple of tiny spots on my forehead, but then I turned to my cream wardrobe door and it was covered in a million brown spots of all different sizes ... luckily they came off with some heavy handed pressure and a makeup wipe. Makes me wonder where else the spray is ending up - all over my clothes? on the carpet? Once the colour had been applied and I no longer had any visible greys I was very happy. It did make my root area feel quite stiff and by touch it was obvious there was some form of intense product in there but to have my hair looking like its been freshly coloured all the time I am definitely not going to complain. So ... I have a love hate relationship with Magic Retouch - I absolutely love it for the end result and will continue to use it but it makes a surprising and terrible mess on furniture etc. So into the garage I now go to freshen up my hair a couple of times a week over the 6-8 week period in between hair salon appointments.

Tips: Spray in small spurts closer to your head than the recommended 10cm. Make sure you check your hands, forehead and face for spots of colour and wipe off before leaving the house. Maybe use this product in the garage. Easy to use on your main parting.
Very easy to use!
The can has a long nozzle for precise application. Spray your hair before you apply your make-up as you will get some around your hairline and simply wipe off with a wet flannel. I trialed brown which blended in nicely with my medium brown colour. Once I sprayed the colour I allowed for it to dry and then brushed and styled my hair where I also found that it kept some of the style. You would really have to give your hair a good rub for any transfer to occur and I left it in overnight and none transferred to my pillowcase either. I rinsed my hair and no colour came out till I used shampoo. If only you could dye your hair this way it would be so quick to do hint hint L'Oreal.
I really like this product and it is perfect to use between colouring :-)
Tips: Don't spray near furnishings as it would colour it.
First time I try Loreal Magic Retouch, and I’m converted! I tried it on my hair regrowth, and instantly it covers all the grey hair. Not much effort at all! I will definitely use it again. Very good for people in a hurry and don’t have time for that hair salon appointment or diy hair colouring at home.
Tips: I used it as per instruction, and instantly it covers the grey parts. Even for the area where I missed when I had my DIY hair colouring at home. To avoid stains on clothes and skin, i usually wear an old t-shirt, and cover my neck and hands with gloves and paper towel. Spray about 10 cm from the area you want to cover, and make sure to shake it well before application. It’s so easy to do, and great result too!
The L'Oreal Magic Retouch is a handy little can to keep with you for a quick touch up at any time. The cute little blue can is discreet and a great size for your handbag!
I have no idea how it works its "magic" but it almost perfectly matched my hair colour straight away. I started off spraying a fine layer onto my hair first of all to test it out and check I wouldn't have any adverse reaction. All seemed fine and I didn't need too much to achieve the required colour. But my advice would be not to layer it on too thick when you apply it so you can adjust in stages.
I was worried about the spray getting on my clothes but I didn't really have that problem. The spray head is good at keeping it contained. I imagine it would wash out easily if it did get on any clothes.
I didn't have too many greys showing at the time of reviewing so I can't totally vouch for its coverage of greys, but on the evidence of my testing, I saw a natural looking colour that blended well with my existing colour.
Because it is applied so lightly, you can't even see it washing out!
As I'm terrible at letting my hair colour grow out too far before re-doing it, I'm sure this will become a staple in my bag! For lazy, low maintenance gals like me, this will be a lifesaver!
Tips: Start by spraying a very fine layer and add more if needed. This will get you a more natural look. Don't overspray to start with.
I was lucky enough to qualify for the L'Oreal Paris Magic Retouch Review in Dark Brown. Thank you!
I’ll begin with the packaging. L'Oreal Paris Magic Retouch comes in a 75ml can and advertises up to 25 applications. I am not a fan of the sea green coloured can. For me it is not appealing and I wouldn’t be drawn to this on the shelf in a shop. Full instructions are on the back of the can.
There is a pointed/straight applicator which is activated upon pressure. Literally point and aim at the area you want coverage, then press the nozzle. I thought I applied enough pressure when pressing the nozzle and was surprised nothing happened. So went to the next level of pressure and a puff of product came out. I had zero control over how much was dispensed as there was no happy medium with the nozzle.
L'Oreal Paris Magic Retouch Worked fine in my hair parting and around my forehead. It leaves a matte finish and if the product lands on your skin it is easily wiped away,
It takes no time to apply and follow the instructions to use on dry hair and the ‘applying distance’. I am terrible for running my hand through my hair. Yes, the product transferred to my nails and fingers. Oh well.
Ultimately I have no issue using between colouring. It looks natural and there is enough coverage for myself.
Pleased to have the opportunity to trial as I wouldn’t have picked this up from the shelf.
This product comes in a handy aerosol can and the spray is used to cover the grey hairs from regrowth in between colours. I had the blonde colour and I used it on my hair after a month since I'd had a colour done. The roots were just starting to show. The spray came out a bit a spurt and it took a bit of technique and several tries to get it going correctly on my hair. It does stain if it gets on your face or elsewhere so you need to be careful with applcation. The result was very good, it covered the grey, This is a good product to use if you want to stretch the time in between your colours, I would buy this again.
Tips: Allow sufficient time to have a proper go at using this.
I absolutely loved this product! I have light blonde hair with grey roots just starting to be obvious and the blonde colour spray hid these perfectly. It was very simple to apply and the fact you could see it instantly concealing the greys as you sprayed was great and allowed you to know how much to apply. I even had my hair cut after I had used this and the hairdresser said she would never have known I had used a product to conceal grey roots, that it had blended perfectly with my natural hair colour. I will definitely be purchasing this again and recommending it to all. Thank you very much for the opportunity to try this!! A definite winner in my eyes.
Tips: Don’t be heavy handed, use sweeping motions for even coverage.
This little blue can is the answer to regrowth issues!
I have greys coming through in my regrowth which basically means I'm finding myself in the salon more often.
Magic Retouch emits a fine but quite forceful spray that settles on the roots and somehow seamlessly blends into my hair colour.
It doesn't run in the rain (seriously, spring, what are you doing to us?!) but comes out easily when you wash your hair.
This is one of those simple products that really you just need to know two things. 1. It works. 2. You won't know how you lived without it.
I'm one of those people who isn't too bothered by the grey regrowth unless I have somewhere to go and I'm going to be seen by people who aren't used to mum-bun-me.
I've used the other big root spray on the market, and like it. But this blows it out of the water. It's a really easy way to hide greys, it gives full coverage and you don't need too much. I've found it lasts longer than the other one I've used.
I like the shade range, particularly the many browns, it's nice to have other choices than brown and dark brown!
It washes out really easily, but doesn't transfer to pillows or bedding.
Great product.
I was pretty excited to be chosen for this review team! My hair is transitioning from darker to blonde due to gray/white hairs and I'm forever battling the regrowth grays in between colours!
I have used retouch spray before, however they didn't have this light blonde and I used a dark blonde but it was too dark for my hair. So the bottle was what I expected, a good size which you can pop in your purse for emergencies :) it has a little spray nozzle which is good as it stops it from being too big a spray, especially when you have a smaller area to cover.
I like the colour of the bottle and it shows the colour on the front clearly so you know what you are looking at. I only wash my hair about once a week so I washed my hair and that showed just how gray my roots were haha! I dried and styled as normal then tried applying the root spray. It was easy to apply, I found applying in smooth strokes was the best for coverage etc but in shorter bursts.
The retouch seemed to cover the grays well, it blended in well with my hair colour too which was pleasing. The only thing I found which I didn't really like was that the colour was quite yellowy or brassy, but it seemed to get worse if you applied more spray over the stuff you already had on (layering too much?).
I haven't washed it out of my hair as yet but will be doing that in the next day or 2, I'm sure it will wash out ok though.
I'm very happy that it is free of ammonia, peroxide & synthetic dyes. One thing I do not like about L'Oreal however is that they are not Cruelty Free I have just seen online :( I love L'Oreal products but didn't realise this fact about the company, so could make a difference to me as to whether I purchase again or not.
All in all though this is a good product that does a good job of covering grays!
Tips: Don't use too much as it can go yellowy!
