Reviews
Tips: use with warm water in circular motions until it lathers and foams a little. removes dirt and makeup very well.
This is my new face wash!!! LOVE IT! SO many products claim to help ageing etc in a wash & you know it's just rubbish. Well not this one, I can feel it working on my uneven skin texture and I swear I can feel it munching away on my skin. It has quite a cooling sensation on the skin and I use it in the shower to have the steam help the process.
Tips: I know all product say keep away from eyes, take this advice seriously, eyelids certainly felt it.
Might not suit a sensitive skin
This cleanser took me by surprise. With the glycolic acid content, it left my skin noticeably glowing and smooth after just one use. Definitely follow advice and DO NOT apply to the eye area. It’s foaming, but not drying and as good (if not better) than my $70 cleanser!
Tips: I alternate this with their hyaluronic acid cleanser as to not over exfoliate.
I've never tried a face wash like this before and have to say I love it. Leaves skin feeling clean and fresh. My skin definitely looks and feels alot better. I like the smell and it has a refreshing feeling when applying it to the skin.
As a long-term acne sufferer I'm a big fan of products containing glycolic acid, so I was excited to trial L'Oreal's Revitalift Laser Gel Wash. Glycolic acid is a keep ingredient I look for in my skincare as not only is it fantastic for keeping my skin looking clearer from acne but as I've gotten older and my skins needs have changed (I'm 34 now) I look to it for anti-aging reasons too.
Let's skip a thorough review of the packaging and go with a basic run through - totally fine, the tube format is great for travel since seals well and hyginic, while easily dispersing product. My only comment here is with a tube it's very easy to dispense too much of a gel format so don't squeeze too hard!
The cleanser itself is what you really want to know about, and safe to say she's a keeper! The formula itself is thicker than other gel cleansers I have used, you really only need a small amount as it works very easily into a thick lather. I know some people don't like things too foamy but recently my combo skin has been feeling particularly oily under all these face masks so I appreciate the foaming feeling which helps me feel like I've really removed the impurities from my skin, without stripping it bare.
I love a chemical exfolliant but am often cautious about using one too often, this cleanser however is gentle enough that using it morning and night didn't irritate my skin. Instead I was left with noticeably clearer, visibly brighter skin that to me really did look healthy and glowing. Personally I didn't notice any changes in visible pores which is the only claim I would say it didn't meet in my use.
If I could make one change make to this gel wash would be in the fragrance. It does have a pleasant perfume but I did find it quite overpowering, and completely unnecessary in a product which is going to be washed down the drain.
Would I use this again? Yes! My go-to cleanser has been another skincare brands daily glycolic cleanser, and with Revitalift Laser Gel Wash coming in at an amazing fifth of the price of my usual product I think I will be making a swap.
Tips: The gel formula is very thick, you only need a small amount.
Packaging: The tube is sturdy and functional. I like that there's no box as I'm trying to reduce packaging.
Formulation: The gel is dense and clear. It smells pharmaceutical but not perfumed.
Economical? Very. I found this for around $18 full price, and on special for $12 at Countdown. Even at full price it's going to give you a lot of bang for your buck as you only have to use a small amount.
During use: There's a slight tingle to this. It's not the same as using a chemical peel and it's not like that stingy feel of using some active serums, it's more just an awareness that there's something on your face, doing something to your skin.
Results: This product works. It exfoliates, it brightens, it unclogs pores. It's a powerhouse of a cleanser.
The only reason I marked it 4/5 for Would I use Again is I would use again, but I wouldn't use this as my regular, twice-a-day cleanser, as I think it's a bit much for my skin. I'd be more likely to use this for a fortnight, and then switch to a gentle cleanser for a week or so, before rotating this back in.
All up - great product, highly recommend.
Tried this gel wash. As soon as I applied it I enjoyed the thick gel feel. Once this was rinsed and dried my face felt very refreshed and new. It has been 1 full week since this product arrived and I have been using and while looking into the mirror as I type I can see my pores have definitely refined and my face is smoother and brighter just like the product says it does. The only other observation i have noticed is my face has become a little more oily in my T zone although this could be due to weather, more masks wearing, more activity, or peri menopause I could be experiencing
I really loved this product because although it was a light smooth serum it has light exfoliation inside. It made my skin feel smooth and fresh after cleaning without making my face raw! Really felt like my dead skin cells were taken away!
Tips: Need to put a face serum right after so feel hydrated
Another product I was excited at trying.
By day two of using this, I was ready to give up as it felt like after I had used it, my skin was burning, well it was more of a tingly feeling but I believe this could be due to the menthol in it?
In saying that it did leave my skin feeling a lot cleaner and smoother and glad that I persisted with it and a great exfoliator at the same time.
It does not foam up which is not a bad thing and is a very clear colour and would be great to have it in a pump bottle as I found I was probably squeezing the tube too hard!
My skin really feels clean after using this over a couple of weeks. My pores are clearer and I thought my skin couldn’t get any softer but after a few weeks my skin really feels resurfaced - like the claims on the bottle say.
I use this each morning only as it won’t remove makeup at night and as it’s quite intense I don’t leave it on a long time. The gel is sort of the same colour as the bottle and you need less than you think as it’s quite a thick cleanser and a little goes a long way. It does foam a bit when you add water but please be mindful that as it’s got a minty feeling keep it away from your eyes. The high glycolic content probably gives it that intense cold feeling I get just before I wash off and immediately afterwards but I’m used to that from other products. I didn’t feel any negative sensitivity after using this except for one time when I might have had a micro scratch on my skin and it tingled a bit after washing off but nothing to much worry about.
Do I look refreshed and glowing? I’m unsure but my skin is certainly clean and soft so it’s definitely done it’s job with the peeling effect and for a very reasonable price compared to Dr Lewinns Reversaderm so I’ll be buying this one again. Bonus the bottle is much bigger and has some recycled plastic content. Good job L’Oreal!
