Neons

I purchased this palette over a month ago due to wanting a pop of color eyeshadow palette to create some fun eye looks.

I have always liked the way LA Girl packages these palettes as they look quite wicked. They aren't super sturdy as its made out of this shinny cardboard.

Now, the product isn't actually as pigmented as most people on the internet say it is. It maybe just the palette but I found the shades very chalky and the shades were very subtle even on a white base. I found these shadows hard to blend and hard to apply evenly on my eyelids.

I definitely wouldn't recommend this palette for a pop of colour.

LA Girl Ultra

LA girl is fast becoming popular cosmetic brand. I never thought much of this brand, but I've noticed it more on social media. When I saw these palettes up for trial I really wanted to be on that trial. I don't own many palettes at all, so I wanted to grow my collection by purchasing this one. Also if it's on Beauty Review it must be good right?

This palette comes in this cardboard holder, its quite thick too. It has a clear window so you can visibly see the eye shadows. I opened it up on the lid is this rectangular mirror on it. This comes with a double ended applicator with a brush at one end and a sponge at the other end. There's twelve colours in this palette. These colours are along the Purple colour palette.

On application, these require building the colour up. I notice the lighter colours in this palette are quite opaque compared to the darker colours. I enjoy using the dark colours to create smoky eyes. I managed to get my palette on sale at The Warehouse for $7 dollars. I think for its price range it's definitely worth it's amount. The shadows aren't very pigmented but they still get the job done. UPDATE: I wouldn't buy these again. Too much fall out. Light colours were chalky.

Its okay...

I purchased the nude palette from The Warehouse for incredibly cheap. I love palettes so thought I would give it a go. The colours are beautiful and the packaging is lovely too but my first impression of the product is you get what you pay for. The eyeshadows are quite chalky and hard to work with. The colour pay off isnt great either and you do need to spend some time getting a decent colour pay off. They stay on reasonably well during the day but this could be the result of a good primer! Im also certain that there are two colours in mine which are identical...

Tips: Wear a good eyelid primer!

LA Girl Sah-mokey

After I saw the product up for trial on BR and not having any other palettes I set out to purchase this one as its a great price for a 12 colour palette.

It has nice simple packaging with a little magnet to keep it shut. It also come with a double end brush/sponge, was good to see a brush in there as a lot of eye shadows only come with the sponge.

I have the Smokey palette and the colours are super pretty. Not as pigmented as I thought they were going to be so you have to build it up a bit. No smell to them at all.

What let this down a little for me was after a few hours wear it did seem to go to the creases and not look so great, this may be fixed with a really good primer,(which I will try, haven't needed it with other eye shadows though).

LA Girl Palettes

I own the nudes palette and the smokey palette and I have to say that I am not too impressed with either of them, but with the price of them I suppose they are decent enough.

Packaging is really nice, especially with the little window so you can see the colours without having to open it, and I also liked that it has a mirror. The brush it comes with is not all that usable but I haven't found any cheap palettes that come with nice brushes.

Although there both have a good range of shades and a good ratio of shimmery to matte shades, there are only a few colours in each that I have found were very pigmented. Eyeshadow primer helps a bit but a majority of the shades are very poorly pigmented.

This is probably to be expected for the price, but I did find it disappointing as it clearly says 'majorly pigmented shades'. They are also quite powdery and not the easiest to blend. However, for the price I think they are decent.

So many options; such a small pricetag!

I was coveting the Neons palette *hard* from the moment I first saw it in-store, and then when it came up as a possible BR trial I waited to see if I'd be selected. I wasn't, so I ended up picking up not only the Neons, but the Ultra as well. At $10 each, why not? (Price was at Love My Makeup; have also been seen in the Warehouse for $7.50)

The LA Girl Palettes each feature a crazy 12 eyeshadows, housed in a simple black-gloss stiff cardboard case with a double ended brush (brush/sponge applicator) and a long, thin mirror. They are easy to use designs, with thin strips of each colour in a long thin rectangular case.

The brushes provided are average at best - the sponge is a little hard for my liking, and the brush a little soft, but it does the job in a pinch.

In the Ultra palette, the colours range from bone through a spectrum of pinky-beige tones and purples, with brown and bronze to finish out the set. They are colours that can be blended nicely to create a muted or darker look, both subtly sexy without being over the top. There are no bright shades in this palette, and the shimmery options are faintly shimmery, not over the top. It's a very pretty neutral set tending towards the purples, and looks great with my hazel eyes.

The Neons are, as expected, BRIGHT. There is a shimmery white and silver to highlight and soften, and a charcoal for features, but the other 9 shades are bright, screaming neons. Pigmentation is okay - not exceptional, but you can definitely see the colours loud and clear on your eyes. You have options for complementary colours, clashing colours, or a myriad of other options - creativity is key! I use this set to do a mottled eye fairly often and it always works using this product.

The shadows last through a full day on my eyelids (note: I do use a setting spray as well but even when I haven't I have been happy with the lasting time) and maintain impact right throughout the day as well. They can be blended or built up to achieve the desired effect, and even used with a slightly damp brush to get even more impact.

For the price, I can't fault the sets at all, but whether or not I'd recommend them depends on how makeup savvy the person was - sometimes people don't need a 12 colour palette, especially if they're happy with what they are rocking - I like to use all the colours all the time but palettes aren't for everyone.

Go instore and play with the 4 options - the smoky and nude palettes are also lovely!

Perfect for the girl on a budget

I used to use the 'Nude' palette in this series, and I was always impressed by it, for the price. It is a great set for a girl just starting out or those who are not prepared to fork out lots of money for eyeshadow palettes.

They're not exactly the most imaginative colours out there, lots of pretty pinks and safe shimmery options but that's absolutely fine. Fairly good pigment and easily blendable, if you're not a huge makeup fiend then this is a great choice that again, will not break your bank.

Tips: Definitely start out with some concealer on your eyes in order to maximise the colour payoff and ensure the colours stay in place.

Great way to experiment with colour!

I purchased this in both the nude and the purple (ultra) and I think that they're pretty darn good. For me the colour stayed on all day (usual prep/prime/finish routine) didn't crease and blended relatively well.

I got these on a buy one get one half price so didn't expect miracles but to be fair I felt that they were better than some of the more expensive brands multi colour kits.

I think that these are great if you're unsure of what colours you want/or what colours suit. Also great to experiment with a variety without breaking the bank. Will I repurchase? Hmmm probably not, but only because I will always have a soft spot for Mac eyeshadows and this was already surplus to requirements. A great cheap palette.

La Girl Eyeshadow Palettes

I own 2 of these palettes so that has to be saying something haha. While these are good palettes for the price they aren't great.

The shades are a mix between mattes for base and crease and sheers for ontop.

Unfortunately not the best pigmented eyeshadows :( you do need to keep going over and over the same area to build the colour up which sometimes if you don't prime the eye you will find it dulls and wears off or the colour kind of shifts around from where you've put it.

I think these would be great for a teenager that is experimenting with makeup or just starting out to get a feel of what they can do, and with so many colours in one palette there are endless options of looks too create.

I like these palettes for the base shade occasionally I'll use the sheer shades to add a pop of shimmer to my look. They are blendable but not as easy to blend as high end eyeshadows, you have to work a little harder with these shades.
