I put my hand up to trial the LA Girl Neon Palette and was so excited to be accepted. I opened it up as soon as it arrived, it comes in packaging that feels like strong shiny cardboard, it doesn't feel overly sturdy but I don't tend to throw my palettes around so that's no biggy. The eyes shadows themselves come in a cool green coloured plastic. There's also a small long mirror on the top half, I don't know how you're meant to use the mirror as it is quite thin. I would most likely only use it if I was desperate and had no other mirrors on me, but it does look nice so there's that.
It also comes with a double ended brush, one end is a thin eye shadow brush the other is your typical eye makeup applicator. At first I didn't think I would bother with the brush at all but gave it a go anyway and was pretty surprised at how much I like the soft brush end. I find it especially good for applying colours to the under eye area and for cut crease looks.
Now getting onto the 12 shimmery eye shadows themselves, the colours look awesome! I was a bit disappointed that the 3 reds and pinks didn't actually come out all that bright, they were still nice colours though. On the other hand the blues, purples and greens are super pigmented and what you see is what you get. I love that there is a white, silver and black colour there also, which compliments the other colours quite well. There's hardly any fall our either which is always a bonus. By the end of the day (after 12 hours normally) there's a wee bit of smudging and colour fade but nothing that would make me stop using these eye shadows.
I'm looking forward to trying out the other palettes, will definitely be investing in the Nudes next!
I own the palette in the Nudes version. The palette comes in simple black and nude cardboard packaging which feels a bit cheap, but for the price that is to be expected. Inside, the palette is made of sturdy nude coloured plastic and a small mirror is included. A brush also comes with the palette. The brush feels very cheap and wouldn't last long but it applies the eyeshadows quite nicely. The palette contains 12 nude shades, many of which are good dupes for the Naked 3 Palette shades. There are 3 matte shades in the palette and the rest are shimmer shades. I found that most of the shades are quite pigmented and show up very well on my eyelids. The shades all blend together very well for creating eyeshadow looks. I've had a lot of compliments on my eye makeup since I purchased the palette, particularly with the copper and nude pink brown shimmer shades in the palette. The only downside really to the palette is that the eyeshadows do not last long throughout the day and I find they crease and wear-off easily, even with eyeshadow primer. However, this only cost me $10 and I am very impressed with the quality, colours and amount of eyeshadows I got for the price.
Tips: Use a good quality eyeshadow primer to make the eyeshadow stay put.
