La Roche-Posay® Anthelios XL Ultra Light SPF50+ Reviews

At first I was a little shocked it was such a little nozzle on the bottle. But once I used it, you definitely only need a small nozzle as the product is quite thin, which some of us are definitely not used to when it comes to sunscreen.

I found the product easy to apply, its thin which makes it easier to apply to your face and to me felt like i was just applying moisturiser. it didn't feel heavy on my skin and for once i didn't come up with spots or anything either. It's not greasy like most sunscreens which I quite liked.

I wore it several times in one week to see if there was a difference and not once did it cause a reaction, and i didnt get sunburnt which lately has been a concern with the spring sun (when its out).

It doesn't really have a fragrance either which i quite liked as i find normal sunscreens etc have a bit of a funky smell to them.... but this has been fantastic.

The bottle is a unique shape and size which means its easier to find in the mornings when getting ready too! I love the fact the bottle is small as it means it will be easy to travel etc with too, as you can just pop it in your handbag etc.

Only issue I have with the bottle is you cant really see how much is left in the bottle.

I was excited to be selected for the La-Roche Posay trial team but unfortunately due to a delivery mishap I didn't receive my product in time to review it properly. The Anthelios XL Ultra Light sounded right up my alley though so I decided to go pick it up myself and I'm so glad I did.

I purchased the Ultra Light from Life Pharmacy who stocks a large range of La Roche-Posay products. I was initially surprised by the size of the sunscreen as for the price point and the 'XL' in the product name I admit I was expecting something a little bigger (even though the product size is clearly labelled as 50ml, something I managed not to notice!). After using it even the first time I realised the benefits to a smaller product sizing. Firstly, your beauty products do have an expiration date, so less chance of expiring sunscreen! Secondly, the compact size is really convenient. My regular sunscreen is a large tube which fits well in a beach tote but takes up a fair amount of space in a standard handbag, whereas the 50ml Ultra Light is palm-size and slips in easily.

It's no surprise the formula of the sunscreen itself really does have a thin conscistency that absorbs easily and feels "ultra light" on the skin. A little goes a long way, and after application my skin felt and looked hydrated but not greasy. I've had acne-prone skin for years which is now combination, so I like a good moisture hit but I hate the feel of traditional sunscreens that clog the pores and feel heavy on my skin. Instead the Ultra Light feels like a nice moisturising product. I love that it is also fragrance-free as I feel adding fragrances to skincare products like sunscreen is really unnecessary.

The fact that Ultra Light is also broad spectrum SPF 50 has me sold on this and I can see this becoming a firm staple for me over summer.

My skin is super sensitive and prone to breakouts and irritation. Because of this I am super weary about putting anything on my face and don't like to face the consequences. I have even been known to skip the sunscreen because id rather deal with a bit of sunburn than more dermatitis on my face.

I was very excited and a little scared to give this a try but I have been pleasantly surprised. It is very thin, which means that it rubs in really nicely and a little goes a long way. It is similar to a body shop facial sunscreen/moisturiser that I have used before in consistency. This also meant that it was very easy to get out of the bottle which is a bit of a top tip, to be careful of excess lotion.

I didn't get sunburnt at all while using this, so it did work really well. I am pretty pale and burn easily so it gets a big tick. I am acually on holiday in Costa Rica where it is so hot and it has even passed the swim and sweat test!

Also thankfully I didn't break out either, which is a bit of a miracle. I think mybe because it is so light it didn't block my pores and I has no adverse reaction due to the lack of sls's and parabens.

The bottle is small and cute and compact. The colours look fresh and not overbearing. It looks different to other sunscreens but that is not a bad thing. Doesn't have distinct smell being fragrance free so not overpowering.

Because you have to use so little of this to get good coverage, the price isn't an issue for me. I feel it will last the same time as other similar products. The fact that it didn't adversely affect my face at all is a game changer and I will be repurchasing when I run out.

I wasn't too sure what to expect from this sunscreen, but it blew my expectations out of the water. The liquid consistency made it so easy to apply evenly, and I wasn't left feeling as though I had a heavy white mask on my face. My makeup went on easily, and I didn't feel shiny or as though I was a white face. I have very sensitive skin, and my skin didn't react at all to the product, which is unusual! I would definitely recommend this product.

I have sensitive oily/dry combination skin and get Keratosis Pilaris and was pleasantly surprised that I got no reaction to this stuff at all, no drying out or reaction to the ingredients and it also DID NOT worsen my KP on the areas that it was applied to, BIG BONUS FOR ME! As it is my biggest and most central skin concern. I was surprised to find this product is a liquid so be careful when you first open it not to squirt it out, being a liquid it spread very easily and went for miles and absorbed really well. While it may be a small 50ml bottle the fact that it was such a spreadable and absorbent liquid made sure that it still went far enough for it to be worth my while, especially given how hard it can be for me to find something that agrees with my skin. No waiting time to put on clothing with a very, very MILD sunscreen smell, which never interfered or overwhelmed the scent of my perfume. I honestly think my antiperspirant deodorant has a stronger smell than this product. I will say even though it absorbed really well my liquid foundation didn't agree with it but my mineral powder was quite happy to co-exist so maybe stick to powder coverage when wearing make up with this sunscreen. Currently $31.99 at Life pharmacy it is on the pricey side for a sunscreen but if you have skin issues like mine you know its well worth the investment to avoid those types of reactions.

The first thing I noticed was the great packaging simple, effective and small enough to throw in your handbag.

Thus had a pleasant scent was nice to have a spf50 that didn't smell like sunscreen. The moisturiser was slightly runny but not so thin it drips everywhere.

I used this on my skin and it left my skin moisturised, protected and looking great. I have already told many people about thus product as its the first of its kind I have liked

I often hate having to put sunscreen on my face as it can feel heavy and oily but not this.

It felt light and wasn't greasy on my skin. My skin is very sensitive and I had no issues at all with it.

Having very fair skin too, I love that it is SPF50+.

My makeup also stayed on well over top.

The bottle is only small at 50ml, but like other La Roche Posay products (which I love all I have tried y the way), a little goes a long way.

Lets get the (teeny tiny) elephant out of the room.

This is the world's smallest sunscreen bottle. I would imagine. How is it 50ml? Is it the Tardis? Like compared to my 50ml moisturisers it's still so darn small!

Anyhoo, I've decided to trust that La Roche-Posay aren't having me on and that there is in fact 50ml in this cute asymmetric container.

The packaging by the way - genius. Sturdy, so no chance of leaks on the move, and the nozzle allows you to get just the right amount. Which by the way, is actually very little. This is a really liquidy liquid. Fragrance free and smooth, it spreads well and doesn't sit on the skin for ages.

You might be used to slathering sunscreen on, but with the Anthelios you can confidently apply it like a moisturiser I think. A nice, light layer.

I suffered no reactions to the product itself, and in spite of gardening lots in some stunning Spring weather, my face suffered no ill-effects from the sun.

I LOVE this product. LOVE IT!

In a small unobtrusive 50ml bottle, which I love as it feels luxurious, is a sunscreen thats perfect to keep in your handbag for make up free days and in your make up bag at all other times. This dynamite little sunscreen has maximum protection for your face.

After shaking well, the ultra light, non greasy formula absorbs quickly and easily into your skin making it a winner.

It does not leave the traditional shiny sunscreen face like all other sunscreens, it leaves a lovely almost powdered satin finish. This finish made it the perfect base under my foundation.

At SPF 50+, non perfumed and designed for sensitive skin, La Roche-Posay couldn't get any better!

ZOMG what is in this weird little bottle?!

Well I'm no chemist, but I can only assume...the best sunscreen in the whole wide world!

SPF 50 for this pale girl is great. I usually rely on layering products containing SPF (moisturiser, primer, foundation) for protection because I find using a solo sun lotion just doesn't work with my makeup. I know, vanity run amok!

This little gem from LRP is lightweight and applies great- you don't need much, so just be careful not to squirt too much out.

What I love about this product, and why I'd pay full price for it, is that its almost like the ultimate primer - my makeup sat on top better than it does with my current primer!

I like you can fit it easily in your handbag or even jeans pocket!
