La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo Plus

I wasn’t quite sure how to use this product when I first received it, and the packaging didn’t really tell me either (I googled it in the end). The product description certainly made it sound like a wonder product. I found it was moisturising enough in most places, but I was left with a dry patch in places between my eyebrows (even if I applied the product there!) - especially annoying when it came to apply foundation. I also still used my regular acne treatment, and most days also a normal moisturiser. So it kind of became an extra step that didn’t really seem to serve any real purpose.

It stated it was a perfect base for makeup, but I had to use my normal primer after applying to get the best base for my foundation. It claims to be ‘gel-cream’ but I wouldn’t really call it that gel-like, or that cream-like - more just like a standard light lotion. My face didn’t look flushed or noticeably red throughout the trial, so I think it may have been soothing and helped to reduce redness.

When I first received it I thought the tube was pretty small, but I actually think it’ll last quite a while so I’m happy on that front. I think I’ll bring it out again in Summer when it’s a bit warmer and my skin has less chance of drying out, and even then I think I might save it for once a day use rather than morning and evening. For the RRP though, I would not repurchase as I didn’t really find it special. I have other, cheaper products that do just as good a job.

La Roche Posay® Effaclar Duo Plus

Even after using this product, I am still not 100% sure I know what it is. I am not sure if it is supposed to be a moisturizer or a pre-moisturizer treatment.

The packaging doesn't really shed any light, but I found that it wasn't quite moisturizing enough to use on it's own so I would use my normal moisturizer after applying the Duo Plus.

It claims to be anti-marks and anti-blemishes, but I dont know if I saw enough improvement in my skin to say it lives up to these claims. I still got new breakouts whilst using it and didn't see any change in the Mark's left from prior breakouts.

I also found that this left me with quite dry patches around my nose.

Overall, I am quite disappointed with this product and dont think I would repurchase it, especially for the higher price.

Great as a corrector (spot treatment) serum.

Firstly my skin type is a bit of a mix bag. It is currently combination/sensitive. I have dry cheeks but a very oily T-zone with mild acne around my chin and blackheads on my nose. I normally use the Trilogy very sensitive range but I have found lately I have needed something to help get rid/control the oily T-zone and acne.

This product confused me a little at first as unlike the foaming gel I couldn’t work out whether this was a corrector (spot treatment) or as a moisturiser as the container is only 40mls in size and the instructions say to use all over your face. I decided to treat it like a corrector as I think it would only last a few weeks if I used it as a moisturiser because it absorbs so quickly you would need a bit to cover your whole face.

The corrector comes in a small white squeeze bottle, with a screw top lid. the applicator tip is very fine so only a little product comes out at once. The formula is a white gel which is non sticky and quickly absorbed into my skin. It feels very smooth and mattifying once absorbed in. It has a very similar scent to the purifying forming gel.

I have been using this twice a day on areas around my chin and nose that have mild acne and blackheads after using the purifying foaming gel from the same range. I use the tiniest amount (half the size of a pea) on the tip of my little finger to apply to each area. I have definitely noticed in the past 2 weeks since I have been using this corrector that my blackheads had reduced in size on my nose and I had less active acne and scaring on my chin. As I have been using my regular moisturiser afterwards I haven’t been able to say whether it lives up to its claims of being non-drying.

I will continue to use this product as a corrector when I have active flare ups as I do believe it helps heal and reduce redness from acne.

Tips: Best as a spot treatment corrector, use a moisturiser afterwards.

La Roche Posay® Effaclar Duo Plus Review

I was fortunate enough to be apart of the trial team for this product.

This product s a white cream that you are meant to use all over your face to help treat severe imperfections. The product is smooth and has a lotion like consistency and comes in a squeeze tube with a thin nozzle. I used about a dollar coin amount to cover my face. It spreads easily and absorbs nicely into the skin. I used this product inbetween cleansing amd moisturising.

This product has the same floral soap fragrence as the cleanser. I did notice this product did help reducing some of my texture across my cheeks. However I did not notice a reduction in oil production, nor dod it reduce my red marks. I do agree, however, that this is fresh and non greasy.

As the trial period was quite short, I will continue to use this product in my normal skincare reigme and see if it really makes a difference. At this stage I would probably not purchase it as it is quite expenisve and you only get 40mls of product, I can see myself using this up quickly, as this has inly had a minimal effect so far, it doesn't make it worth it in my opinion. If you have a small amount of texture this product may work well for you, but if you have a lot of texture like I do, I think you will only see minimal results.

Tips: Works well as a step between cleanising and moisturising to help reduce skin texture.

Blackheads be gone

Just when I was beginning to think I would forever have puberty skin, the magical Beauty Review Fairy sent me some La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo Plus. I’m not really a dramatic person, except when I play Monopoly but I ask you to show me someone who isn’t? But this product has actually changed my face. I have been using this snazzy little tube of cream twice daily since it arrived and my blackheads have decreased in numbers. Something that I never thought was possible. I also have less spots and my skin feels smoother and softer. I would recommend this product to anyone who has troublesome skin and is looking for a skin-care miracle.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo Plus

This product follows cleansing for oily and sensitive skin. The texture of this cream is very light and easily absorbed into the skin. At first I thought it wouldn't be hydrating enough as its lightly textured but my skin feels like there is plenty of moisture without feeling greasy. The fragrance is fresh and clean with almost a green smell. My complexion after using for 2 weeks is clear and blemish free, my pores seem minimized. There is no high shine usually associated with my oily skin and redness seems less. This gel absorbs quickly into the skin. The product has been perfect at keeping my skin balanced and blemish free. I like that it is a two step process, only a cleanser and moisturiser in the range which means you dont need a whole lot of different products.

Tips: A small amount about the size of pea is enough to moisturise the whole face, apply like any other moisturiser using both hands and pat to complete. Apply morning and evening.

Makeup can be applied over top after 5 mins.

Feels like a treatment primer

I love this. Much like the cleanser I wondered if these products would be right for me given my skin isn't really acne prone but it does get oily these days and I do get the odd spot and it's hard to find a product that will help with that but not irritate my sensitive skin or dry it out as it's also prone to dryness. As if life isn't hard enough! This feels a bit like a primer when I apply it and it doesn't have much of a smell I didn't think. Certainly no issues with the smell. The texture is lovely and it seems to just melt into my skin making it seem smooth and almost matte in appearance and primed ready for applying make up or other products. It doesn't irritate my skin at all and really seems to have helped keep those pesky spots away and has also cured those annoying little bumps and imperfections. My skin seems less red and is less oily but not dried out at all. I don't know why but the application felt better after using the cleanser as well. Some days I have just applied the Duo Plus but using it in combination with the cleanser really does seem to give the best results. I'm not sure if it actually is but I have gone without make up for a couple of days now and feel okay about it because my skin seems to look more even toned. Now if I can just find something to fix these pesky dark circles and eye bags...

Love the result but not the feel

You can just tell that this product is high quality and it definitely does what it says. I love that it’s not just whacking some product on spots and blocking up your skin more but actually clears out the pores and prevents scarring as well. I have a few red spots and scars from past spots so that’s definitely something I like.

The (probably silly) reason I won’t necessarily buy this product again is that it felt a little bit stiff on my skin, which is just a feeling I personally don’t like. I’m sure that’s just the product doing it’s job but for that reason alone it’s not for me long term.

I have been using this product consistently for a couple of weeks now and I’ve had great results so it’s definitely something I would recommend to others.

Magic in a tube!

I wasn't too sure what this was - the packaging wasn't forthcoming, so I consulted google.

Its kind of a serum meets primer and a spot / blemish treatment in one. I was a bit concerned it was going to be too harsh to use all over my face, (ie on the the areas that aren't breaking out or oil prone) but I shouldn't have worried - it was perfect!

The tube seems a bit small for something you use all over your face twice a day. You don't need to use much and it does spread easily, but I do think a bigger tube would be great.

I did notice about midway through the first week I started to break out, and my skin felt a bit bumpy, but I persevered and I think this was just my skin purging due to the new products.

By the end of week two, my skin had improved so much. The breakouts were all gone and for once I had a perfectly clear complexion. I have no sign of blackheads either an my skin texture is smooth and even.

Its a strange product, because it doesn't tingle, or feel like its doing anything (if that makes sense) but it really is working on clearing your skin.

The price is quite high for such a small tube, but as I said you don't need much, and for these results, well, I think I can deal with it!

Love Love Love

It's pretty rare these days to find a moisturiser that does what it says it is going to do - and this one DEFINITELY DOES!

It claims to reduce severe imperfections and unclogs pores. Since I have been using it I haven't had to use nearly as much foundation as I have been in the past, mainly because it makes my skin look near perfect. It doesn't have any claims in terms of reducing wrinkles but I have noticed that this one wrinkle that I have by my right eyebrow has been looking not as noticeable, which is always good in my book. Like most face creams you don't need to use much. I probably use about half of a 10 cent coin, if that. I find that the amount that I use covers my whole face and makes my skin feel super soft. Being that it is paraben free and alcohol free means that it is not going to be damaging to my skin. I have also found that I can pretty much apply my make up straight after I have used the moisturiser. And for someone who doesn't have a lot of time in the morning to apply my make up, that is definitely a benefit. It has a non obtrusive smell, not overpowering and pretty much non existent. There is a slight smell but if you are someone who doesn't like their face creams to be super smelly then you will like this one. 40 mls doesn't sound like a lot, but you don't need to use much. It's going to last you a long time.

Definitely have found a new favourite

Tips: Don't use a lot of product. You don't need it. You're going to be amazed at how gorgeous your skin is going to look after you've used it for only a couple of days.
