I truly had high expectations for this product - being that it is on the more pricier side and seeing some great reviews. Unfortunately in the first week this product did not work well with my skin at all, and despite me using it as instructed on the packaging - it did not do what it said it would. It had completely made my face break out (worst it has ever been) with large blind pimples in places where I have never really got them (on my cheeks and neck) and I am totally aware that purging may occur during the first week or so but my skin really had never looked that bad. This product states it is for sensitive skin which I found very surprising as I woke up in the morning and my skin had started to peel around my spots (not sure if supposed to?). After waiting another week, I started to see great results - I guess the breaking out was my skin 'cleansing' itself and getting rid of all the bad toxins? Happy to say that I will be continuing to use this product and would consider purchasing when I run out.

Tips: Wait it out! Give it time!
The cream was a dream to apply! It comes in a small tube that is easy to hold and super easy to squeeze as the tub retains its shape. It's also easy to control the amount used as the opening is quite narrow. It has a non-discript scent, and a non-greasy application. I have oily skin and really liked how my skin absorbed the product.
The cream is white, and very light to the touch, and spreads very evenly and thoroughly when applying it. It almost feels like a nice mask being applied but very lightweight, I loved using this as part of my morning and nightly routine, because it felt really lovely during application.
It's recommend to use twice daily, and helps with imperfections. I have some splotchy bits from scaring and the cream didn't irritate my skin. It dulled redness I have around my nose and chin area, gave me a smooth renewed skin appearance. I was really impressed the first time I used it, as I woke up and visibly saw a difference in my skin's appearance. I don't often use a product with salicylic acid and am keen to keep it as part of my routine, particularly when my skin is being irritable!
Highly recommend as a tool in your beauty kit.
Firstly my skin type is a bit of a mix bag. It is currently combination/sensitive. I have dry cheeks but a very oily T-zone with mild acne around my chin and blackheads on my nose. I normally use the Trilogy very sensitive range but I have found lately I have needed something to help get rid/control the oily T-zone and acne.
This product confused me a little at first as unlike the foaming gel I couldn’t work out whether this was a corrector (spot treatment) or as a moisturiser as the container is only 40mls in size and the instructions say to use all over your face. I decided to treat it like a corrector as I think it would only last a few weeks if I used it as a moisturiser because it absorbs so quickly you would need a bit to cover your whole face.
The corrector comes in a small white squeeze bottle, with a screw top lid. the applicator tip is very fine so only a little product comes out at once. The formula is a white gel which is non sticky and quickly absorbed into my skin. It feels very smooth and mattifying once absorbed in. It has a very similar scent to the purifying forming gel.
I have been using this twice a day on areas around my chin and nose that have mild acne and blackheads after using the purifying foaming gel from the same range. I use the tiniest amount (half the size of a pea) on the tip of my little finger to apply to each area. I have definitely noticed in the past 2 weeks since I have been using this corrector that my blackheads had reduced in size on my nose and I had less active acne and scaring on my chin. As I have been using my regular moisturiser afterwards I haven’t been able to say whether it lives up to its claims of being non-drying.
I will continue to use this product as a corrector when I have active flare ups as I do believe it helps heal and reduce redness from acne.
Tips: Best as a spot treatment corrector, use a moisturiser afterwards.
You can just tell that this product is high quality and it definitely does what it says. I love that it’s not just whacking some product on spots and blocking up your skin more but actually clears out the pores and prevents scarring as well. I have a few red spots and scars from past spots so that’s definitely something I like.
The (probably silly) reason I won’t necessarily buy this product again is that it felt a little bit stiff on my skin, which is just a feeling I personally don’t like. I’m sure that’s just the product doing it’s job but for that reason alone it’s not for me long term.
I have been using this product consistently for a couple of weeks now and I’ve had great results so it’s definitely something I would recommend to others.
This product was worth the purchase! It helped my skin, reduced redness/scarring and even removed those little bumps!! 100% would buy again, definitely would recommend.
Tips: Ease yourself into it, start by using it 2-3 times a week and then slowly increase so that you skin gets used to it. :)
Effaclar Duo Plus works well. The 40 ml packaging is a good size, I would prefer a flip-top lid for more convenience but otherwise it is easy to use. My skin feels softer, less oily and definitely a reduction of acne while using this product. It has a light feel with a slight pleasant fragrance and is easy to apply, not greasy at all.
My only negative is the claim of a non-drying formula. I have combination skin, I did get dry patches on my face, particularly on and around my nose and cheeks, so I did find I needed to use a thicker moisturiser as well to hydrate parts of my skin. I feel with the day and night routine (twice a day application) my skin will smooth out imperfections, make my pores smaller and dry out acne before they pop up. Enjoying this product paired with the Foaming Gel.
Tips: You may need to use additional moisturiser to hydrate dryer patches of skin as this is a light product.
This is a nice gentle moisturiser for oily skin. It claims not to cause breakouts and is also supposed to help with unclogging pores and preventing marks. I used this moisturiser following the effaclar foaming cleanser in the morning, before applying makeup. It comes in a slim tube contained in a box. The tube has a thin applicator which makes it easier to regulate the amount you squeeze out. The cream is a milky gel, which has a slightly chemical smell, and appears matte after application. I found it wasn’t enough as a base for makeup, which tended to go a little patchy on top, so a seperate primer is required if you want your makeup to last. I had one spot break out soon after I started using this, so I also applied a layer to the affected area in the evening which stopped the spot from coming to a head. The red mark from it still took several days to subside, so I didn’t feel that it had any particular advantage on skin marks. I will continue using this as I’ve found it’s a nice day moisturiser.
Tips: The instructions are to use all over your face, but spot applying to problem areas helps reduce them faster.
This product follows cleansing for oily and sensitive skin. The texture of this cream is very light and easily absorbed into the skin. At first I thought it wouldn't be hydrating enough as its lightly textured but my skin feels like there is plenty of moisture without feeling greasy. The fragrance is fresh and clean with almost a green smell. My complexion after using for 2 weeks is clear and blemish free, my pores seem minimized. There is no high shine usually associated with my oily skin and redness seems less. This gel absorbs quickly into the skin. The product has been perfect at keeping my skin balanced and blemish free. I like that it is a two step process, only a cleanser and moisturiser in the range which means you dont need a whole lot of different products.
Tips: A small amount about the size of pea is enough to moisturise the whole face, apply like any other moisturiser using both hands and pat to complete. Apply morning and evening.
Makeup can be applied over top after 5 mins.
I wasn't too sure what this was - the packaging wasn't forthcoming, so I consulted google.
Its kind of a serum meets primer and a spot / blemish treatment in one. I was a bit concerned it was going to be too harsh to use all over my face, (ie on the the areas that aren't breaking out or oil prone) but I shouldn't have worried - it was perfect!
The tube seems a bit small for something you use all over your face twice a day. You don't need to use much and it does spread easily, but I do think a bigger tube would be great.
I did notice about midway through the first week I started to break out, and my skin felt a bit bumpy, but I persevered and I think this was just my skin purging due to the new products.
By the end of week two, my skin had improved so much. The breakouts were all gone and for once I had a perfectly clear complexion. I have no sign of blackheads either an my skin texture is smooth and even.
Its a strange product, because it doesn't tingle, or feel like its doing anything (if that makes sense) but it really is working on clearing your skin.
The price is quite high for such a small tube, but as I said you don't need much, and for these results, well, I think I can deal with it!
My little sister bought me a tube of this as she uses it and loves it. My skin is a mixed bag, a bit dry around my nose, blocked pores on my nose and hormonal spots on my chin and sometimes forehead. Because of this, I found the product too drying around my nose, so tended to use it on chin, the top of my nose and between my brows and forehead.
I am not sure how effective it has been at fading any red marks from acne, but it does seem to keep things a bit more under control. My nose seems less congested, and chin spots seem smaller. I will buy this again to see how continued use helps, but so far I would say good, but not great!
Tips: Just skip applying this to any dry areas of your face, otherwise layer on a nice moisturizer after.
