I was excited to receive this for trial, even though I wasn't 100% sure what it DID. The short answer appears to be 'everything, Trudi. It does EVERYTHING... and then some'. I'm a fan of Trilogy Everything Balm, and this is very much the same kind of thing.
Lakoko Coconut and Kukui Nut Balm comes in a gorgeous little jar - brown glass, with a black plastic screw top lid, and pale blue and cream labelling - it kinda just screams 'recycle me!' and I plan to!
The balm itself is a solid type, that softens when warm and is easily scooped out with a fingernail - I'm anticipating perhaps needing to use a makeup-cotton bud as the level gets down though, due to having long nails and not wanting the oil to get stuck under my nails....not that it would hurt!
I have used this so far on....
- my hands - bumps and scrapes - my hair - my nails - the soles of my feet - my lips - on temples and wrists to aid sleep
On all counts, it's lovely. It's perfumed - I smell the nut and coconut, but also lavender and can pick out the hint of citrus. It's not a super oily oil - absorbs nicely and is soothing rather than greasy. It's also healing, having had a great effect on minor bumps and grazes. It's nice in my hair, to pull out and gloss up my curls without being hugely greasy. On my lips its a good emergency lipbalm, but I'd rather use my Blistex. It's softened my hands and feet nicely!
All in all, I'd buy this again. $25 seems a lot for the teeny pottle, but the smallest bit goes a really long way.
Fave use so far - on my nails!
I was lucky enough to receive this to trial and it arrived in my letter box on the day my first baby arrived, after several days in the hospital i was able to start using it when we got home. All i can say it's amazing, i've been using it on my boobs as you can imagine first time mum im having some issues with her latching and this balm has really helped in repairing them, my baby doesn't mind the taste either, it doesn't interfere with my milk smell. I've also used this on her stomach where she's getting a rash from the nappy band, again works wonders. I love the fact it's a soft balm and easy to apply to sensitive areas, it doesn't firm up too much and softens if in a warm place due to the coconut oil.
I totally recommend this for anyone needing a one stop shop treatment, the scent is nice, not over powering and works wonders.
Tips: A little goes a long way and also great for cracked heels and dry elbows. It really is a magic balm
