When the Lakoko balm arrived I wasn't sure what to expect, as I inspected the little brown glass jar I went through the ingredients list.
The first ingredient on the list is coconut oil. I use coconut oil for almost anything from cooking, hair masks to makeup remover and massage oil. So I was really looking forward to trying it out!
I started by following the small instructions on the back of the jar. By massaging a small amount of balm into the area of choice. Avoiding the eye area. I applied to my clean face which is normally very sensitive and through this cold winter I've been dealing with dry unforgiving skin. I was surprised by how little I needed to use. As it's cold it was a semi hard balm to get out of the jar but melted on my fingers easily. I used the balm on my face for 5 days straight. I did notice that my skin felt more hydrated. But on the 5th day my skin started breaking out. Now this wasn't just a standard break out. I haven't seen my skin look this bad since I was 15. So I have stopped using it on my face.
My long curly hair has recently been lightened and the frizz is unbelievable. I have tried treatments, curling products, oils and cremes. All either weigh my hair down too much and make it look like I haven't washed my hair in a week or I notice little to no change. I applied the balm to the lower ends of my hair before I went to bed at night. I tied my hair up slept on it and washed my hair in the morning. My hair felt refreshed and less frizzier than normal which was great!
The smell is not my favourite but it's not unpleasant. I haven't had a chance to try it other ways to help but I will definitely continue to try many other ways for the balm to help me.
I'm not sure I would pay $25 to replace the balm when I run out as there are a few other products that are 1/4 of the price that seem to have similar results.
nice pleasant smell.this is a solid balm to touch, which melts with body heat.I used after dipilating and it did leave my skin less irrated and smooth.I probaly wouldnt use again as it left a greasey feeling on skin and took a long time to absorb.I used on the back of my hands they felt smoother but didnot look less aged.
Tips: if using on hands you need time to allow the product to absorb.
