Can you tell by the name of this product that it is a little, uh, complicated? I have always been impressed by Lancome's innovative technology and concepts, however this product takes it a little too far.
The Lancome Visionnaire Yeux Advanced Eye Contour Perfecting Corrector is, well, an eye cream. It can be used day and night to hydrate, prevent fine lines and wrinkles and reduce puffiness and dark circles. It achieves all of these claims, not in a 'woah I'm a new woman' sense, but an 'I could probably use a little less concealer today' way. My undereye area is left fresh feeling and brighter looking and it is not too heavy for my 21 year old skin. There is no stickiness or scent.
However behind this expensive and effective eye cream is complicated packaging and over-the-top instructions. It looks simple enough, a sleek tube in the striking aqua colour of the Visionnaire range. Upon first use, I broke the lid. All of my skincare and makeup products have lids that twist on and off, so I twisted, and it cracked. Turns out it can just be pulled on and off. THEN comes the twisting. The lid must be removed, then the top of the product is twisted on and off, open and closed, for the product to be dispensed. Then the tube must be squeezed WHILST pushing the top of the product onto the skin. The top of the product is a small, flat, plastic paddle with a hole where the product comes through. You can't see how much product is being dispensed, and I have to drag across my eye area, which surely can't be helping my future cause for wrinkles. The top of the product must then be turned over, to then go across the eye area with a rougher side of the 'paddle' that 'bursts' the beads of nutrients (there are no visible beads). If this sounds exhausting and excessive, it is. When it comes to my morning skincare, I'm often in a rush. When it comes to the evening, all I want to do is quickly get through my skincare routine and lay my head on the pillow.
I have a few eye creams and I will continue to keep the Lancome Visionnaire Eye Contour in my routine when I have the time, however I will not be repurchasing. If the formula was unlike any other, I would, but for now I will stick to pots and easy to dispense tubes.
I have a wee bit of a Lancome addiction at the moment so when I saw this I thought oh why not? I love the rest of their skin care products I may as well try this even though I have several different eye creams/serums!
The plastic tube itself is pretty the green to dark green colour that matches in with the rest of the visionnaire range with a silver lid.. Now about that lid!!!.. I tried and tried to twist the Lid off then it cracks! It's then I realise you just pull the lid off. Bit of a duh moment.
Lid off and I am greeted with a small rubber spatula at the bottom of the tube, one side is smooth with a hole where the product comes out, the other side has rows of little bumps. Now at the base of the tube you have to twist so the flat side is facing ON
So what you do is gently squeeze the tube to get some product out spread around the eye area, then use the bumpy side of the spatula to massage it in! It does feel quite nice it is slightly more time consuming but it feels good. The cream comes out white and it has these tiny wee white grains through it and it does take a bit of massaging to get then to dissolve. Whilst massaging the cream it changes colour to a very light brown and once dried I can still see tiny wee white flecks, So I carefully try to brush them off. There is no scent and the consistency is quite thin
The results? It does slightly brighten the under eye circles but as for evening out skin tone and lines Hmm haven't noticed any difference. I couldn't wait to get back into using normal eye cream that you spread on using your finger tips and the yuex light pearl. This is a very fidly fluff around kind of product that I'm not likely to buy again sorry Lancome!
