Not hot enough..

Imagine my pain.. I'd gotten to work and been caught off guard a week earlier than usual - suffering from endometriosis, I found myself keeling over in pain waiting for the next person to start their shift so I could run to the supermarket >_>

I found these heat patches after seeing them here and decided I'd give them a crack - I really should've read the reviews before hand.

They too a long time to heat up, while they stayed in place very well they just didn't get warm enough to bring any relief. As someone else said, it barely got over body temperature so I continued the remaining four hours in pain despite combining the heat patches with painkillers.

These could've been great! I think I might just grab a regular gel-heat pad for my handbag next time..

was good.

They were ok. I initially used them taped below my stomach but it's not quite the deep heat I needed as my cramps are pretty bad. They take a long time to heat up, but they do stay in place pretty well. I actually use them more on my back during the first 2 days. Even my partner (male) asked me to put one on his back for him. He thinks it was just ok too.

Meh

The idea is great, however I am a bit disappointed in the fact that they aren't reusable. They are the perfect size and very compact, which is a lot easier than a big bulky hot water bottle, but a as they are not reusable, you definitely wouldn't want to be using them every time you have period pain or pain of any sort, as they are the equivalent cost to a pack of tampons, and you only get 2! They heat to a nice temperature, not too hot, and last quite a while. But for me, they were a last resort. I would get more value for money from buying a $2 hot water bottle from the Warehouse, at least I can reuse it!

Semi effective

First period since I had my daughter bought with it my first ever cramp. Ouchies!

My mother and brother in laws were over so unable to crawl into bed with a hottie I dug out a sample of these I received lately.

My first thoughts were that it was defective as it wasionly just perceptibly warm but upon closer inspection I discovered it was letting off a minute amount of warmth (it can't be described as "heat").

I was disappointed, however it did seem to work. Hallelujah!

Would I buy these? Perhaps. If I had cramps and needed to go out or travel but the hottie will definitely be on stand by at home.

Tips: Put on after your shower. I wasted half of mine as I wanted a shower a couple of hours after I put it on and it wouldn't restick.

Less than satisfied

I got theses thinking that the temperature would be constant and be a decent heat, but it wasn't anywhere near warm, it was more like a luke warm and didn't do anything. It has a lot of potential but if the temperature was a lot higher they would be fantastic (I have felt disposable hand warmers that heat hotter than these). Again as other people have stated, they would benefit from being re-stickable, I accidentally placed it in the wrong place and wasn't able to re-position it.

blah

The temperature really was not what i expected. It was lukewarm and i often couldn't feel any heat at all. It was reasonably comfortable and stayed in place but was a bit painful to pull off. The overall concept of the heat patch is a great idea i just don't think it really worked.I would probably stick to my hot water bottle!

Libra Hotties Heat Patches

I was lucky enough to have two samples sent to me a little while back, but hadn't actually tried it till last night. I don't usually get cramps, but yesterday, my cramps lasted all day :( So I figured I'd try out one of my heat patches. It's super easy to apply, although, if you apply it and it doesn't feel tight enough or not positioned properly, please don't take it off and try again. I made this mistake, and it lost most of it's stick. I still managed to get a lot of use out of it, thanks to my tight clothing. Anyway, the heat patch didn't do much for the pain, but there was something so soothing about the warmth on my tummy. I definitely wouldn't call it a heat patch though, it's more like a warm patch. Even though it's not what it makes out to be, I would definitely use it again. It's just soothing! :)

Libra Hotties

I received a free sample from Libra of their new Hotties product. The concept behind the product is great - a portable hot water bottle, that is discreet and helps relieve aches and pains. While I think that the idea is great, this product failed to really 'wow' me, and I don't know if I would go out and purchase these myself.

I often get a sore neck and find that heat helps, so I tried my sample on my neck. Initially I found that it wasn't heating up so I moved it to another area of my neck where it did. The stickiness of the patch was gone when I re-applied it so it basically didn't stick at all which kind of defeated the purpose of being able to move about with it on.

The heat did get quite hot after a little while (would have been good if the instructions said that it did take a while to get hot!) however the effectiveness I found was quite short-lived.

There also seems to be a lot of packaging for one small patch. I am not sure what the patches in the packs you can purchase are like, but the sample seemed to have a lot of unrecyclable material, and I felt bad throwing it in the rubbish after use. It would be nice if they were reusable or came with less outer packaging.

Good in a pinch

I have an active job where I have very little time to sit down so I saw these as a good alternative as I can't walk around clutching a hot water bottle. On the upside, they are discrete, so no-one need know you're suffering during that time of the month. I put mine on my lower back and I could tell straight away that the sticking power wasn't the best. I had some medical adhesive tape so I used that to adhere the patch to my skin and it stayed in place for approx 8 hours with no issues. The heat was not enough to relieve my pain per se, although it was more of a reassuring heat, like a warm hug :) I wound buy these again in a pinch when my pains were bad and I had to go to work. They may be very helpful for young girls just starting their monthly, as it is a comforting product.

Tips: Use extra wound dressing tape from the chemist to secure the patch in place.
