I absolutely love my velvetines! I own cashmere, black velvet, red velvet, suedeberry, and wicked. I love the colour variation of the velvetines. The formula is super smooth and nice to apply. As it dries matte it can make your lips feel quite dry so I recommend using a good lip balm before applying this, and also to brush your lips before applying. One thing I find with my velvetines is they do not last for a long period time on my lips. Maybe its just me? I still love these nevertheless though!

The lime crime velvetines are ridiculously and incredibly long wearing! They feel rather different/dry to apply but once they are on and set it feels like you've got nothing on but with maximum colour impact and great staying power! My favourites are suedeberry - matte coral red and pink velvet - matte pink. They are definitely a matte finish product. My next colours (if I'm brave enough) will be utopia - vibrant orchid, pansy - true, rich, velvety purple and rave - (coming soon) electric lavender. I also love the idea of the other more wearable shades such as red velvet - matte rose red, riot - earthy reddish brown and wicked - matte burgundy/red. A swipe or two bottom and top should do the trick and even being liquid a tube should last a while - months if your like me and only use occasionally. These have lasted me a meal, drink and a movie in wear so they do stay put. For $35 they aren't the cheapest but I think the quality makes up for it and the fact it is something a little different. Easy to apply with gloss like applicator. All lime crime packaging is simply awesome! Recommended to any one who likes something a bit different/wants to try something new!
Tips: Apply sparingly and with caution - not easy to fix up once on! Make sure lips are well hydrated!
Love Love Love these velventines, I am just one of those lipstick wearers that no matter what the lipstick in gone in 1.5 seconds Not with these, finally something that lasts a little longer, it is a bit drying but still makes my lips look nice.
the only thing i struggle with now is that the creator of limecrime has questionable business ethic and are not shi[[ing to suppliers in NZ at the moment and with the scare over security on the website- I will not order from there, still three that i want cashmere, wicked and suedeberry
As curious as I am, I had to get my hands on one of these Lime Crime Velvetines. Even with all this talk and speculation about them I had to give this liquid velvetine a try.
It's incased in this frosty glass tube. The lid has this retro yet funky design. The lip wand has this soft applicating sponge thats helps apply the lip stain on your lips well. The colour I chose was Utopia. I got mine from a friend selling it in a marketplace. It's the closest I could get to getting one of these so I was very thankful.
Application with this wand was truely the best I've ever experienced before. It goes on like liquid and magically dries into this matte lip stick coverage. How did they make this product. I am amazed! There was a scent like chemicals. It's indescribeable. I tried eating, drinking and doing my normal daily activities and not one smudge.
My results were well covered lips. My lips had a matte finish. There was no stickyness , no smudges whatsoever. It had a smell sort of like twink. It is becoming very rare with them stopping the imports to New Zealand. Like I said earlier I was lucky enough to get my hands on a second hand one. Would love to own a brand new one one day. I would buy it again. It's worth buying. The brightest colour I've ever had.
Tips: Warning these are extremely drying. It would help to apply lip balm before or after.
I was gifted a Lime Crime Velvetine in the very bold colour WICKED.
The Velvetine comes in a very light weight tube where the bottom part is frosted plastic so you can see the product. And the lid is a gorgeous metalic maroon colour with pink roses. Very girly :-)
The lid is easy to undo and I love the applicator wand. The applicator wand makes things a little easier to apply with the slanted tip and soft brush end.
WICKED is a very dark, ruby red shade. Definitely no sheer lips when applied. You do not need to build the colour up and I would highly recommend a very steady hand. I made a terrible job/mess the first application. I first thought 'vampire' and the shade made my teeth appear more white. And I hadn't applied properly around my chicken lips so when I opened my mouth, I looked stupid.
I cannot believe how fast Lime Crime Velvetines dry! I am not use to the feeling on my lips and find myself licking my lips as they feel dry. And if I put something over the top of the lippie, then my lips would no longer look matte.
Lime Crime Velvetines apply like a gloss but look like a matte lippie. I do not like the smell either. I can't put my finger on the scent. Cross between a light vanilla/chlorine smell?? And you can faintly taste it as well.
The lippie does not budge and I remove with a baby wipe.
I am an amatuer when it comes to make up and I am sure others would easily apply in one swipe. For those like myself, I would not recommend applying in a hurry or in the car!
WICKED is too bold for me but I would love to try a lighter shade of red or pinks.
I love these and I will continue to buy them even if the company is a little shady. I do find some colours bleed a little more than others but that can be easily be fixed with a lipliner and careful application. Red Velvet and Utopia are my go to shades. They last for hours (even while eating and drinking) and even if they do fade through the day, the product semi stains your lips so you don't look super patchy. One annoying thing though is their formula can be inconsistent and vary lipstick to lipstick.
Tips: Since these are matte, they look absolutely stunning when you overdraw your lips.
These are lovely liquid to matte lippies. I have the colours Suedeberry (my personal fave), Red Velvet, Wicked, Utopia, Salem.
They apply as liquid with an easy to use applicator and dry matte. These lippies do not move all day. I usually reapply about mid day after eating but it isn't necessary. Every time im wearing one I get compliments (esp utopia, suedeberry and red velvet).
The packaging is lovely as are the colour options, I'd love to get a few more!
If I were to say anything slightly negative about the velvetines it would be that they smell a bit off? My Utopia smells so strange that I cringe when I apply it but the smell goes once dry!
Tips: I personally use a lip brush for very precise lines :)
These were my first liquid matte lippies. This is more of a tattoo lippy. Super pigmented but really drying. However the colours available are absolutely AMAZING! Have the whole collection and find suedeberry, pink velvet and rave to be my least favourite only because the Color doesn't suit my skin tone. Other than that these are my go to lippies to add drama to my natural look. Awesome utensil to have if leaving work and going out for drinks str8 after.
Tips: These only come off with oil so if eating out, do carry wipes or be prepared to apply a brand to coat as it bleeds out and gets a tad messy. HIGHLY suggest finding a liner and lining the lips to stop the bleeding. This lippy does bleed after a certain period. VERY drying so keep lip balm on hand.
I have this in red velvet (perfect blue-based red), but if it is easy to buy in NZ I would buy other shades too. It applies wet and dries to a semi-matte/satin finish.Definitely transfer proof and long-wearing once it dries.I naturally have dry and chapped lips and this product is very forgiving. I have tried other similar products that even if I exfoliate and moisturise my lips after about 4 hours, my lips flaked. This, I can wear up to 8 hours with no flaking, probably more if I don't eat, but I wouldn't do that. :) Packaging is frosted glass which made the product more sophisticated. Definitely a must-have for me.
Tips: Use a lipliner if you're new to this product. A little goes a long way, if you put too much on your lip then this product will bleed whilst still wet, and when it dries outside of your lips, its very difficult to remove. Can only be removed by oil-based makeup remover. Also be careful when eating oily/greasy food, the oil in them will move this product.
After countless efforts of finding the perfect red for me I decided to break the budget and splurge on this delightful delicacy. Wicked was sold out online so I picked up a brand new one (above RRP) on Trade me. Slightly put off when it arrived, as through the applicator it looked more brown than red, BUT... then it danced over my lips. A red that is so dark, it 'feels' seductive, definately a tinge of brown but I wouldn't have it any other way. This look was so bold that I had an incredible boost of confidence and (40 selfies later) I realised that this was MY red. Paired with a perfect coverage foundation and some lovely black lashes this would be the perfect evening shade. Totally kissable, it.would.not.smudge! I could only remove it with make up remover, but who wants their lippy to come off easily? My search ends here. The perfect lips...Lime Crime xo
