I bought my first ever LC Velvetine for a Halloween look, and I was worried about transfer and longevity of the lippy.. no one wants it to look worn out after a few drinks or have to constantly touch up.
Well first the packaging: very sleek, cute and girly but not in an unsophisticated way. the cost: well it is up there, but is it worth it... yes... and no. Yes for day to day colours but not for once offs or colours you will only wear now and then.
The lippy: it's a smooth liquid, smells of a hint of vanilla... glides on effortlessly. I was worried being a liquid as I am used to bullets only so thought it would take a bit to get used to but have had no issues applying just the right amount and no bleeds/runs or transfers... just make sure product is dry before you eat/drink or kiss :) It lasted a few hours before I needed to touch up but that was more due to the dark colour and wear showing up more readily.
Removal: a good make up remover is a must especially with the dark shades
Dryness is to be expected with this type of product so make sure you have a good lip balm t the ready and prep those lips before hand... flakes are not a god look.
I was lucky enough to be gifted Lime Crime Utopia by one of the beautiful BRAs - and I was SOOOO excited! I've always wanted to try one, but my wish list is insane and it kept being pushed down the list by other 'must haves'.
First of all, I adore the packaging - it's so fun and funky, but still manages to look like a luxury product. But is it as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside? Absolutely. I love the liquid formula. It went on easily, although you do have to be careful as it can bleed a bit on older lips, and if you go over your intended lip line it can be a mission to fix. The first time I nailed it, but since then I've had to have a couple of goes each time I wore it. It doesn't take long to dry and after that it's stuck on your lips. Seriously! I smooched my wee girl and she didn't have a mark on her. There were marks on my coffee cup, but it didn't translate to a loss of colour on my lips. Amazing!!
So did it last for long? Yes. It easily went four hours before I wanted to give it a wee touch up. But that being said, my experience did change on different days. On the days where my lips were smooth and hydrated, the Lime Crime stayed on longer and looked fresher, and when I did reapply it applied nicely. However on days where I'd forgotten to exfoliate and moisturise my lips it looked quite cakey and dry rather quickly.
That being said I would still recommend - if you're not one for fussing about with your lips after the initial application, this is a winner!
Tips: BR have taught us it's a crime not to prime, and the same goes for this product. It's a crime not to prime before you apply Lime Crime.
