I really do love this product, the colours look amazing on the lips, and they go on so easily. However, I do sometimes, depending on the colour have to apply several times before I get a nice opacity. My biggest issue with this product, is that it tends to dry out my lips after extended wear. While it does stay on all day, there is the issue of lips becoming dry looking. Due to this issue, I tend to only wear this lipstick at night time, or when I am going out for short periods of time, not all day wear.

Tips: Make sure your lips are properly moisturised beforehand, and also don't wear it all day unless you are willing to reapply it fully once it starts looking dried out.
The first time I purchase this was when it first came out. I just had to have it since the opaque lip sticks were already awesome. I have got 3 lovely colours: Red Velvet, Sudeberry, and pink velvetine. After drinking, eating, smoking, duck lipping photos, these babies last for ages, and will only come of after giving them a good wipe down with make up wipes. In my opinion, before buying these lip stick ladies, make sure you are willing to part with $30 because these colours are very very strong and bright. I'll perhaps use these colours once a month.
Tips: If your a tight bum like me, use a cotton bud to clean the edges of your lips. These velvetines get messy!
Now don't get me wrong I adore the Velvetines especially the new collection (I got all three) but I have to strongly disagree with the whole non-transferable thing. I found that with eating and drinking it will, just like every other lippy, come off. It is also extremely drying on your lips. Even with a lip balm as a base I found like all the moisture in my lips was sucked up by this product and even licking my lips didn't help remove this dryness. The actual applicator is the seriously annoying! This product is so hard to apply right due to it being a liquid lipstick that dries matte. That means if you make a mistake you need to remove it asap before it dries and stains your skin. You would think that since it needs to be applied carefully they would make it easy for you by having the applicator in a brush form but no somehow a doe applicator seemed to be the best idea -_- The colour pay-off is great I just think some things could have been done better
Tips: Apply balm before wearing as it is extremely drying Use a lip brush if you have one as it is much easier to apply then with the doe applicator
The Lime Crime Velvetines is sure to catch peoples eye! Whenever I wear it I always have a few people stare at my lips. If you are wearing casual clothing and want to dress it up a little generously apply it to your lips and you have yourself a work of art. I wish I could try all of these!
Tips: To stop the product drying your lips as much, apply chap stick or any moisturizing lip balm :)
Love the colors, how long it lasts and how texture! one thing im not keen on is how it kind of flakes / removes from the center of your bottom lip after maybe 30 or so minutes but totally fine if you re-apply! the cost is abit frisky but totally worth it :D my fav color is Wicked''
Tips: applying the lipstick slowly and make sure you create a straight line :)! get a color they'll suit your skin!!
I have the velvetine in the colour wicked and it is such a beautiful dark red tone. It lasts a very long time on my lips. However you do need ensure that your lips are moisturised and have no dry patches or the lip stain will cling to those areas. I find if you eat food with these I find they stay on however if you plan on drinking lots of liquids make sure you have the lip stain so you can re apply it
Tips: Make sure your lips are moisturised
I love these velvetines, lovely colours and pigmentation. Only thing is the price is quite steep and they dry your lips like crazy, they are definitely a product you'd use every so often (well they are for me) because having this lipstick on feels rather uncomfortable and the intensive treatments to repair your lips afterwards are too time consuming for me personally!!
Tips: make sure your lips are chapped before otherwise this lipstick wont adhere right and make sure to take care of your lips after to prevent them from being chapped, formula is rather drying :(
I love Lime Crime, the packaging is beautiful and palyful and the colours are uniquie. This would be getting a 5/5 but I found that my red velvet was a diffrent formula to my wicked and pink velvet as it didnt last as long and smudged/bleed more then the others. Over all the staying power is great, theyre vegan and pretty! whats no to love PLUS theyre relativly cheap ( I paid $25 off facebook new)
Ahhhh the velvetines - I can still remember the hype around these beautiful frosted tubes of colour with the fuchsia pink lid covered in hot pink roses. I really enjoy the shades and I've worn them several times whether it's to the office or a night out. Admittedly I have the more "tame" shades (in comparison to all the other crazy shades in the range) but they're still quite bold.
Red Velvet - a gorgeous blood red
Pink Velvet - a vibrant hot pink
Suede Berry - a coral based strawberry
Wicked - a dirty sangria
There's no room for sheer application with this lot, the opacity of the colours are just incredible - a swipe or two is all you need. One of the things I love about this product is that they don't take long to set so even if I'm in a rush I can quickly put it on knowing it will stay in place.
I love that they don't bleed or feather so I can skip the lip liner if I wanted to. They have fantastic lasting power, I remember the first time I wore it to work I kept checking my mirror to see if I needed to retouch and I did - AFTER 7 hours of wear! The colour stays vibrant for those 7 hours; so it's merely just fading around the edges but nothing blatantly obvious.
This product would have received top marks if it wasn't for the drying aspect. On the first day; there's probably just a bit of dryness on the lips but nothing that a lip conditioner can't fix. However what I noticed is that with consecutive days of use it actually just gets worse despite my best efforts to keep the dryness at bay.
If I know I'm going to wear this product or any drying lip product I always prep my lips the night before by using a lip exfoliator and lip conditioner and I repeat the process after I've removed the velvetine. Would I recommend this product? Absolutely I've gifted these to friends who love it just as much as I do.
My favourite is definitely Red Velvet. Lime Crime products used to be available in NZ however that changed not too long ago and you can only source it officially from the Lime Crime website.
Tips: Exfoliate lips and use lip conditioner before and after use of velvetine.
This was the first liquid lippy I bought. I had seen so many swatches of Wicked online and I had to have that gorgeous burgundy shade that went so well with any skin tone. I also have Utopia which is a pretty fuschia orchid shade. It's very unique I don't have anything like it in my collection of lippies. Now at the time of this review I have another popular brand of liquid lipsticks which is also long wearing. However I find that while the other brand isn't touch proof Lime Crime is. That's what I love about Lime Crime, you apply it and it stays put. Take a drink of water, kiss a loved one or significant other, I can even have a snack providing it doesn't have oil in it and my lippy looks great and hardly any fading, no transfer or bleeding. If I eat an entire meal it does come off in the middle and sides and leave me with a bright or dark ring of color on the edges of my lips so I will need to either remove my lippy or reapply. That being said if I don't eat I can get four or six hours of good wear from this. One swipe of lippy and it's opaque and loaded with pigment but I can apply more layers on top without it getting patchy. It does feel drying but I think that's just a characteristic of liquid lipsticks. The cons of this product is that is it drying, if you have dry lips the pigments will cling to any dry bits and emphasize them. Also when it comes time to take it off you it is harder to remove than normal lipstick, it takes a bit of rubbing and if you have already dry lips it's not awful or painful but it's not fun although it could be just liquid lipsticks in general. But the main con in my opinion is that the site did have security issues early last year and the customer service surrounding the issue was pretty poor. I waited till the security breaches on the site were repaired. My credit card was near expiry as well so I felt I could do an order. I did use Paypal and didn't have any issues at all. My order arrived in about two weeks and everything was as it should be. I think the Velvetines are really good I was just put off buying when the site was hacked into and customers' credit card information was leaked. I do want to get more of these Velvetines since I like it when my lipstick is touch proof, but I will avoid purchasing directly from the site if I can. But so far this is the only really transfer and touch proof liquid lipstick that I have come across.
Tips: Definitely exfoliate your lips before applying these to make sure you don't have any dry bits that the color can accentuate. If you are going to wear these regularly a good lip balm is a must before and after. I like to exfoliate my lips, apply the balm before I start with the rest of my makeup and then since I do my lipstick last the lip balm has had a bit of time to soak in. I blot my lips before I apply the Velvetine. If you aren't good at applying liquid lipsticks like me I find a bit of miscellar water on a cotton bud helps to clean up the edges a bit. Or for a more professional look you can use a bit of concealor on concealor brush to just clean up the edges around your mouth and get a more defined line. When I want to remove it I hold a cotton round soaked in micellar water to my lips for about thirty seconds before I wipe my lips. I do that twice and almost all the color is off. If you do decide to order from the site I do recommend using Paypal to pay as the customers using Paypal didn't have their credit card details leaked.
