I was so excited to try this after all the rave reviews. Nice attractive packaging very pretty, nice to see the level off the lippy and a nice sponge tip applicator. So nice primed lips and a great pencil lip liner around the edge I carefully stick this on my lips evenly all over stick my finger in my mouth and pull it out I hate lippy on my teeth. And such a lovley deep pigmented colour very matt and my lips knew I had it on them sort off a drying feeling. This colour lasted a couple off coffees and lunch with no topping up around 6 hours, and when it decided to come off it was quite patchy but it was the end off the day and the rest off it just came off with makeup remover easy as. My lips did feel dry all day and even through this is a long wearing lippy I have had ones that last as long but are more comfortable for my lips and around the same price. A great lasting product I won't probably wont repurchase as I like soft lips.

Tips: keep your lips dry
Its weird to think a year ago, I didn’t know or care who Lime Crime was, but when this company did pop up on my radar, it was because of their velvetiness. They were beautiful. I have googled swatches for these left, right and centre, and not just because of the beautiful and unique colours they came in, but also because the beautiful packaging.
The lime crime velvetine range is packaged in a clear frosted plastic cylinder. The top half on the packaging is red and covered in roses with the lime crime logo printed in white text. It’s pretty and I don’t think anyone could deny that. The red part of the packaging twists off and pulls out of the frosted section to reveal the wand applicator, and the beautiful velvetine inside. In my case, my chosen colour was uptopia, which is an epic cool toned magenta.
Application is easy, but I find with the package design, way more product then I need come out so I have to wipe it off before I use it which make it a bit messy. But it’s a good fact that a little bit of this product goes a long way. I use the wand for application, and carefully line my lips with the velvetine before colouring in my whole lip. The colour is opaque, that’s for sure and it has some serious staying power. But I also find that it really really dries my lips out. Plus even when I exfoliate before using the product, this product seems to almost highlight the lines in my lips.
I find this product is lovely in regards to colour and packaging, but it just does not agree with my lips and this means I rarely reach for this product, and have only used it a handful of times. For that reason as well as a couple others, I won’t be repurchasing Lime Crime Velvetines again, and I have decided to sell my Utopia Lime Crime aswell.
I was so excited to jump on the Lime Crime bandwagon ordering my first liquid matte lipstick "Pink Velvet". Firstly, the packaging is super cute and girly and I loved the pretty packaging it came in.
This shade is gorgeous and super bright, it's great for more dramatic looks. The wand is super easy to use and I rarely reach for the lip liner when using this product.
The cream is completely matte and can look a little dry on the lips, I like to apply my lip balm first. This lipstick lasts all day long and doesn't rub off when drinking/eating which I love. I also purchased "Black Velvet" which I love to bits but did stain my lips a little, otherwise both great purchases.
Tips: The Black Velvet shade is great as an emergency eyeliner.
I have had 2 of these suedeberry and wicked. Both beautiful, they dont dehydrate my lips, my fav of all time is wicked. they both last ages, as in hours throughout the day, they dont feather, they dry fast , theyre opaque Luckily though many other brands are coming out with liquid lipsticks because even though this is a really great product I wont be repurchasing this or recommending it to a friend. I only have wicked left and when it runs out i will put it on my mantel as one of the greatest and best lip products i have had the pleasure of using.
Since these are mattes they are obviously going to dry your lips but to such an extent? My lips were cracking badly but the colours are super vibrant and look great. After wearing for a while the colour goes away due to moisture in the centre and leaving you with a lipstick moustache. Normal makeup remover doesn't remove this and after removing make sure to apply some form of lip moisturiser
Tips: Have extra moisturised lips and don't wear for too long
i love the pigmentation and this product def does what its supposed to but it just not for me personally my skin color is way to pale which suck as i do like it and it is a brilliant product.
Tips: use a lip liner as this product bleeds easily
I bought this in Wicked which is the perfect deep shade of burgundy. I couldn't be happier with the colour and the matte finish. It's exactly the shade I have been looking for.
As some have pointed out, application is very tricky at first. I found that I was initially getting a very patchy result but in time I got the technique under control.
I thought the staying power was good but not as great as I was expecting. Admittedly I have mostly worn it in party situations where a drink wasn't too far from my mouth most of the night. I have had a lot more success with it lasting well on a normal work day. Touch ups do require VERY careful application or you can get a noticeably uneven result.
That said, I'm so happy with the colour that I can handle the extra effort required to make this one look good.
I finally purchased two Lime Crime Velvetines the other week after seeing a gorgeous girl wearing them last summer and adding it to my "to buy" list. I bought wicked and Suedeberry after red velvet was sold out worldwide. Having become so used to applying stick lipstick the applicator too a few attempts to get used to on the first wear. However, they dry beautifully and mine lasted all night and I got at least 7 compliments. Can't wait to see what my friends think of Suede Berry, hopefully I'll be a bit more used to the applicator by then. Loved the Matte look and will definitely recommend to others.
Tips: On the first few applications wipe excess off the applicator to avoid running. Make sure your lips aren't too dry to begin with, as it dries matte so can leave your lips looking shrivelled.
The formula is really nice and goes on smooth though the applicator is a bit awkward to use (that is probably my own awkwardness) and the product is very drying but that can be easily fixed by putting on some lip balm first.
I was really excited to buy my very first Velvetine, my very first Lime Crime after wanting it for months on end! So, a month ago I caved and bought myself Red Velvet. At $30 it's really expensive for a lip product in my opinion, and I might have expected miracles as everyone raved about it.
The packaging is beautiful, yes, and the product inside smells lovely, and it's Lime Crime, I mean, what's not to love?
Pro's: It's beautifully packaged, it's luxurious. It stands out from the crowd of red lippy wearers. It's a smooth formula. It doesn't bleed.
Con's: You can't build the colour. Once it's set, you can't patch it. If you lick your lips or anytime when your lips are wet, the colour rubs off ie when you're eating a burger, drinking coffee, etc. It does make your lips dry, and shows your dry lips off to everyone if you don't moisturise them first ie. use lipbalm.
I don't know if I'm completely sold though, yes it's a great colour and a great lipstick, but I think the hype over these were maybe too big and ultimately it was a let down because it didn't exactly do everything that everyone claimed.
Will I repurchase? I might buy another colour and see if I like it.
Tips: Don't lick your lips, or rub them as the colour will come off. Try to keep your lips dry for it to last longer.
