So I LOVE liquid to matte lipsticks! They are my absolute fave, my make up kit has about 30+ of them. These are fantastic for people who are a little more "out there" and quite comfortable with themselves as the colours are quite bold and make a statement, but on the other hand there are a few neutral colours too which is nice. The applicator is nice I always achieve a perfect lip line without using a liner. They are super long lasting so you don't have to worry about re applying all the time! They smell amazing also. The only Problem with these is that they are quite drying! That would be the only down fall for me personally.

Tips: Would definitely use a lipscrub or lip balm before using these as tjese can be quite dry, also don't over apply product or it will crack and won't look nice!
I had heard a lot of things about Lime Crime, and had ventured onto sites that sold it several times. Then all the nonsense with the company went down and I had no interest in giving them my money anymore. Luckily I have awesome friends, and one gifted me the shade Wicked. I didn't realize until I owned this that I can rock a red lip. Preferably dark, but I rock it. And well. So I was pretty excited to try this! It comes in a frosted plastic tube with a red lid covered in flowers, and it's pretty girly. It has a doe foot applicator which is quite small and easy to use.
The color, daannnngg. It's a glorious dark red with possibly a blue undertone - which is perfect for me as I think it compliments my skin tone. The formula is quite thick as well, one coat is enough but I almost always do two.
Recently I used a lip scrub before I used this - wow, talk about drying. I won't do it again in a hurry! I almost always use a lip balm underneath this when I wear it to make it slightly more comfortable and easier to apply, but usually I don't notice it on my lips. Lasting power leaves a lot to be desired, and it transfers quite easily as well (always gets on my chin!!)
I have to say, since using Jeffree Star, this formula is a lot more drying than I thought. I will still use it however, but I know in my heart I won't buy it again or give Lime Crime any of my money.
I have to agree with those who didn't entirely love the product. It took me a couple of goes to decide that I would in fact use it, but I don't think I'd buy it again. I purchased Suedeberry, the colour is a really beautiful subtle red, I don't dislike the colour at all it is a beautiful change from intense red's, and a step up from light pinks. It is very wet when you first apply it, I now only apply the most minimal amount and then smooth that across my lips, it really does go far! In saying that unless I use two coats I find that it dries too opaque. But I found that it took a little longer than expected to dry, and while it does look matte, it is very sticky on my lips so it isn't the nicest feeling. However, staying power is great! And I have decided it smells like Creaming Soda so to be honest I kind of just want to eat it :))
Tips: I had a much better result using a similarly colored lip pencil, especially because it is a slippery mess when you first apply + two coats to ensure full coverage.
Why is it that I'm seeing all these wonderful reviews on the velvetines and then there's me who tried 'Wicked' and it was absolutely HORRIBLE on me :( I was super disappointed because I loved the colour and had seen all these wonderful reviews everywhere about it but somehow once I applied it, it dried completely patchy and disgusting, wiped off half of it ( I have a big bottom lip so wondered if that was why) and just slowly came off throughout the short amount of time I wore it for. Even my mum said it looks gross on me :( Was so upset cause I got a good deal off makeup.co.nz and was going to wearing it to my ball but sadly if it looked like that after only an hour of wear then I definitely couldn't wear it to the ball with food and drink. Ended up selling it after I had tried a couple of times and it just didnt work for me, I especially bought it cause it was kiss proof and for me it was not like that at all :( wondering if mine was a dud???
Purchased this online in wicked because everybody who's anybody raves about it! Was disappointed with it and not because its not a great product but because I have very full lips and often get dry spots, even though I exfoliate like a demon lol. Went on beautifully, although I recommend a liner if you're a novice to matte creams like myself. But I found that when it dried, it showed up every single dry patch and looked cakey. Gorgeous product, just not suited to me
I own a velvetine in the shade Suedeberry. The packaging is very pretty, with the velvetine having a red and pink floral printed lid. The velvetine smelled like vanilla when I first got it but after a couple of months it has a very unpleasant Playdough scent, which concerns me. The velvetine has a sponge applicator which applies it very neatly with no need for a lip liner. It's hard to get used to how drying it feels on my lips, but it looks good. Suedeberry is a very wearable orange, however I do find it makes my teeth look super yellow. I was gifted this product and I am glad I was as I feel the price of this product is very steep for what it is. Even though I liked the colour, I would not repurchase as I feel I could get a matte lipstick for cheaper that would provide a similar effect.
This product I use to think was amazing u till I tried others like it that were cheeper and actually felt nicer on my lips as well. This product is average hence my scoring. I don't think this product is worth the price tag as it tends to flake off easily and doesn't stay on too long
Everyone raves about these, the colours are beautiful and bright. However, they do look a lot smaller in person so keep that in mind! I was a little surprised. For me, having dry lips, they were slightly drying and cracked on the lips. But I've heard other reviews and that didn't happen! Red Velvet is the only one I haven't tried. Oh, and the super new ones that also look amaze.
Tips: Rub in a lip balm before applying!
I didn't purchase my lime Crime from the official Lime Crime website. I got them new from Trademe and they swore they weren't fakes and were authentic time crimes. However I'm not sure because I did t find the quality all that great. The lipstick went quite flakey and cracked and the colour smeared quite a bit. I wasn't pleased with the result however I must try ordering from the the lime Crime website and compare the quality as they may have been in fact fakes.
Matte lipstick is my go to lipstick. I love them! I originally bought Suedeberry which I fell in love with and just recently I splurged on Red Velvet & Pansy. However I am not sure what is going on, I find Pansy lacking that initial “WOW!!” that I had with Suedeberry, I love the colours no doubt about that but I feel there are some faults within the formula & the applicators. The applicators are awkwardly messy, which leaves unwanted streaks which require fixing and I find the formula very smudgy, they don't seem to have the same staying power as the original colours & is not kiss/eat/drink proof. Unlike Suedeberry, I eat & drink then I have to reapply within a few hours and it’s very drying on my lips. Due to the smudginess of Pansy, I feel somewhat self-conscious wearing it in public as I am constantly thinking as to whether if I have lipsticks smeared halfway across my face. I am hugely disappointed, makes me question if I got a dud product or is this it?
However I love the packaging, the pretty boxes & love how flowers feature so heavily. I am still eager to try Riot when it is released :)
