The formula is really nice and goes on smooth though the applicator is a bit awkward to use (that is probably my own awkwardness) and the product is very drying but that can be easily fixed by putting on some lip balm first.

After countless efforts of finding the perfect red for me I decided to break the budget and splurge on this delightful delicacy. Wicked was sold out online so I picked up a brand new one (above RRP) on Trade me. Slightly put off when it arrived, as through the applicator it looked more brown than red, BUT... then it danced over my lips. A red that is so dark, it 'feels' seductive, definately a tinge of brown but I wouldn't have it any other way. This look was so bold that I had an incredible boost of confidence and (40 selfies later) I realised that this was MY red. Paired with a perfect coverage foundation and some lovely black lashes this would be the perfect evening shade. Totally kissable, it.would.not.smudge! I could only remove it with make up remover, but who wants their lippy to come off easily? My search ends here. The perfect lips...Lime Crime xo
This girl does not like matte lipstick, lets just get that clear, then I was gifted this lipstick by a sweet BRA member and my perception of mattes has been changed.
I'm a soft and creamy lipstick kind of girl and having a dry, moisture sucking lipstick on my lips is just tortureous. My lips are naturally dry and therefore need all the moisture they can get to look their best. Mattes have never made my lips look good.
I've definitely changed my tune with Limecrime velvetines. The quick liquid to matte formula is amazing because the lipstick is set within seconds. I love lasting power of this lipstick as lasts me the entire day and I have to scrub it off before. Eat, drink and kiss all you want, this lipstick isnt going anywhere.
I don't find the matte formula drying at all even when I have to scrub it off my lips.
I love the applicator tip as it makes for precise application and a pretty straight line making the lipstick look superb. I find some liquid to mattes can go cakey on the lips but not this lipstick.
This lipstick suits pretty much every single skin tone and is a universal favourite and my recent favourite matte.
Tips: Every girl needs to try Wicked
These gorgeous liquid to matte lipsticks have become my ultimate favorite, there is no turning back now! I currently have 6 shades, pansy, cashmere, salem, wicked, pink velvet & suedeberry and plan on getting my hands on the entire collection eventually.
If you order these directly from the lime crime website they are shipped in a flower themed box, packed and protected with gorgeous tissue paper. The lipsticks come boxed in fun pink packaging with the lime crime logo on it. The actual lipstick tube itself is just as adorable with the latest packaging designed with flower patterns.
These lipsticks are very opaque, and a little goes a long way (seriously! one dip of the wand into the tube is usually enough, and that is saying something since the tube automatically wipes some off when pulling the wand out) the formula goes on so smoothly but dries fast so you need to be quick with fixing any mistakes. The staying power of these velvetines is INSANE, I can usually go from morning till evening without having to touch it up at all! (maybe once slightly during the day due to eating but that is expected) they last forever and smell so yummy! (like vanilla cream).
The only thing to be aware of with these is that they are quite drying (so if you do not like dry lips do not buy these!) and that they CAN stain your lips slightly after removing the product at the end of the day, but ive found that my lips are usually back to their normal colour by the morning lol :)
Overall, if you are looking for a matte lipstick with high staying power look no further! These are seriously top of the line where liquid to matte lipsticks are concerned. I absolutely recommend them.
Tips: You can mix these lipsticks to create new shades :) Grab two colours, and put a drop of each either on the back of your hand or on a flat surface, grab a lipstick brush, mix & experiment. But make sure you are FAST to mix & apply before it dries up :) I recommend mixing pansy & suedeberry to get a gorgeous plum red.
I currently have this product in the colour Wicked. The packaging is very sleek with a frosted tube with a red applicator handle.
The product its self is easy to apply and I like to use a lip brush to give an extra crisp edge, as the colour is so opaque and long-wearing I like to ensure my application is perfect!
Wicked is a gorgeous deep vampy red, and makes your teeth look super white. Once applied it dries to a matte finish quite quickly and looks almost like a smooth velvet finish, which I suppose the name velvetine derives from.
The colour can last all day even with eating and drinking, and hardly transfers to other items i.e cups/glasses. As it dries to a complete matte, it surprisingly doesn't make my lips feel overly dry at all. If I am suffering from dry lips that day I will prep with just lip balm before applying my velvetine, I find this does not affect the finish or colour.
I do have to use makeup remover or coconut oil to remove these completely off my lips.
I finally got one of these after hearing great things and becoming intrigued by the much hyped up brand Lime Crime, got this in the shade Suedeberry- a vibrant melon tone.
The packaging is fairly simple but pretty; a sturdy frosted plastic tube, doe foot applicator, red screw top lid with the Lime Crime brand name, pink roses printed on it and unicorn heads on the top. The liquid formula has a sweet vanilla scent, is thin and watery but dries quickly and provides solid even color & coverage.
This matte stain lasts for ages on my lips and transfer to my coffee mug is barely noticeable. Although this is a very dry stain it doesn't dry my lips and is great for windy days as your hair won't stick to it!
I expected a lot from this product and it fully delivered, I have no qualms about it and will definately be investing in a few more Velvetines.
This is every burlesque kittens must have- Big Red Velvet lips that can be seen for miles!! This lip colour lasts for hours without the need of touch ups and doesn't budge under a bit of gloss either. It's a little runny to apply (definitely one to apply before getting in the car!) but after one application you'll get the hang of it. The colour is rich and opaque and the coverage is the same even if applied over a bit of balm (It can feel a little dry without). I will always have this product in my make-up kit.
Tips: It works super well with glosses over the top to change the tone of red you require!
I was so excited to try this after all the rave reviews. Nice attractive packaging very pretty, nice to see the level off the lippy and a nice sponge tip applicator. So nice primed lips and a great pencil lip liner around the edge I carefully stick this on my lips evenly all over stick my finger in my mouth and pull it out I hate lippy on my teeth. And such a lovley deep pigmented colour very matt and my lips knew I had it on them sort off a drying feeling. This colour lasted a couple off coffees and lunch with no topping up around 6 hours, and when it decided to come off it was quite patchy but it was the end off the day and the rest off it just came off with makeup remover easy as. My lips did feel dry all day and even through this is a long wearing lippy I have had ones that last as long but are more comfortable for my lips and around the same price. A great lasting product I won't probably wont repurchase as I like soft lips.
Tips: keep your lips dry
I was lucky enough to be gifted one of these from a friend - Utopia, and the other Pink Velvet I picked up from Cosmic Corner online here in NZ. Lime Crime are no longer going to be stocking Aus and NZ though but from what I have heard from others ordering directly from the Lime Crime website is quick and has excellent customer service. I also follow the founder Doe Deere on instagram, she is the coolest woman!
Pink Velvet is a super bright pink, bordering on highlighter pink which I love. Utopia is more of a purple with a touch of pink. I'm still not used to wearing a purple, I see it on myself in the mirror and get a wee shock! Bare in mind there are no plain colours in this range so they are all different. I think this is awesome and brings something special and different to a makeup range.
The packaging on these is beautiful. The bottom is a clear frosted acrylic so you can see the shade of the lipstick through the packaging which I love. The lid is a dark shiny red with some pink roses on it. It says Lime Crime in white on the side and has the logo on the top, two unicorns. It feels high-end and classy. The applicator is a doe foot applicator which is quite short in length compared to other applicators I have used. I found the applicator easy to use which was a bit of a shock given the bright colour I expected it to be a lot harder to use.
The colours go on smoothly and almost glossy at first. They don't dry down straight away so you have some time to get them in the right place. They are a wee bit drying when they become matte but I think that is to be expected. Once dried down they also stay on really nicely. I do find the middle budges a bit when eating etc, but the outter stays put. Also when you reapply after eating etc it still sits nicely and looks like one layer.
I can't believe I took so long in trying Lime Crime products, so happy with the quality of these!
Matte lipstick is my go to lipstick. I love them! I originally bought Suedeberry which I fell in love with and just recently I splurged on Red Velvet & Pansy. However I am not sure what is going on, I find Pansy lacking that initial “WOW!!” that I had with Suedeberry, I love the colours no doubt about that but I feel there are some faults within the formula & the applicators. The applicators are awkwardly messy, which leaves unwanted streaks which require fixing and I find the formula very smudgy, they don't seem to have the same staying power as the original colours & is not kiss/eat/drink proof. Unlike Suedeberry, I eat & drink then I have to reapply within a few hours and it’s very drying on my lips. Due to the smudginess of Pansy, I feel somewhat self-conscious wearing it in public as I am constantly thinking as to whether if I have lipsticks smeared halfway across my face. I am hugely disappointed, makes me question if I got a dud product or is this it?
However I love the packaging, the pretty boxes & love how flowers feature so heavily. I am still eager to try Riot when it is released :)
