I purchased a wee tin of this during Lush's Boxing Day sale for half the usual price. I probably should have read the reviews here first, but I loved the look of the packaging, and I loved the name, and I loved the idea of a crimson red tint.
Alas I did not love this at all.
Actually, to be fair, I still like the little tin, it's cute. But cute doesn't cut it when the tint is not mint.
On opening the tint I fell in love with the colour, so pretty, so red! But strangely enough on me it applied as being super pink, and not in a flattering way. More in a scary clown 'run for your life' way. I tried to apply less, but then it didn't really cover my lips properly and looked patchy, so it was a bit of a lose/lose situation.
Compounding matters was the scent... I expected it to be quite sweet and appley, but all I got was spice and I didn't enjoy that aroma on my lips or lingering up towards my nasal cavity.
I tried applying this tint a few times, but each time I ended up wiping it off and popping on a bit of lippy. I've since lost it (and I only got it at the beginning of January). I've no idea where it's gone, and I'm really not bothered that it's disappeared either. I think it's safe to say this falls into my 'not a favourite' category.
I was really excited to try this lip tint as I usually love this kind of product but the problems started just trying to open the container. If you have longer nails, the squat container can be really tricky to open, especially the first time.
Inside was an ultra bright paste with an extremely strong cinnamon smell. I tried applying just a small amount but the results were disastrous. It didn't apply evenly and was terribly patchy and spotty, despite having used a lip scrub before trying. And the colour? Well, 'clown-like' was my boyfriend's comment and I had to agree.
It's definitely not something I would use again - it just seemed like something wasn't quite right as the texture, colour and consistency all seemed to be off. Less 'tint' and more like 'circus paint' unfortunately.
