After talking to the biggest beauty enabler a.k.a farmer’s wife about lipsticks she told me these were amazing and when she says something is amazing I know it will knock my socks off, so while doing a beautylish order I placed one in my cart.
A week or so later the package arrived, I LOVE shopping with beautylish the way they wrap everything up in brown paper and then topped with cotton string, It feels special and that a lot of care has gone into everything and then to top it off with a personalized note is just the icing on the very sweet cake.. anyhoo I open up the dark plum coloured box to be met by the most gorgeous lipstick bullet I think I have ever laid eyes on, rigid metal in a rose gold hue with the CT logo stamped on the top of the lid makes it look so luxurious I am slightly scared to let my grotty farmers hands near it and feel like I should be wearing white gloves whilst i apply it.
I take off the lid and look at the gorgeous colour, I brought this in the colour Amazing Grace which is a lovely rosy pink colour. Now at this point I start panicking.. This is a Matte, my lips don’t like mattes and I don’t really suit them, all the scary thoughts run through my head but really I needn’t have worried because this is the exception to the rule. As I apply it I don’t notice it drag across my lips, it is so creamy it just glides on. There is no patchiness it applies just like any other lipstick. Even after it has dried a few minutes later it doesn’t make my lips look cakey, cracked or dry it’s almost like they have a bit of a sheen, they even feel soft it doesn’t dry them out or feel like I’m pulling it off every time I press my lips together.
I can wear this for and 4 hours before I need a touch up, it doesn’t bleed or stain my lips when it is wearing off. And can be easily removed.
This has to be my favourite matte and I can’t wait to buy more in this range. It was obviously named revolution for a reason as it is not like any standard matte lipstick and is in a league of its own.
I have lusted after these lipsticks for a while, before the matte version came out due to their design and luxury offerings so I bit the bullet when the matte revolution range came out on beautylish and brought 3.
Design, this is best of any lipstick brand ever and I mean it. Wrapped up in a cool to touch thin material of rose gold hue. Ridged for the luxury feel and grip. With the CT on the top of the lid, these take pride and place at the top of my spinning lipstick tower. The barrel inside has the same colouring with the words Charlotte Tilbury etched into it and the lipstick easily comes up and goes back down. The name of the lipstick is labelled on the bottom of the case of which is the same brand colouring of plumy red that Charlotte Tilbury is known for.
Formula of these matte lipsticks is delish. They rethink your understanding of matte, these although they do settle on your lips for a longer lasting effect do not fully dry out to make your lips do the same, and they remain creamy so you can still let your lips touch each other and move the around without that cakey dried up feeling. There is no need to use a lip liner however I do for the purpose of reshaping my lips to look more even, as I have not seen any feathering and bleeding into the surrounding skin from these lipsticks, even the intense dark of purple stayed right where I wanted it. Wearing down happens from the centre of the lips around the 3 hour mark but a quick smack of the lips together to move the lipstick around sees it even out for a good 5-6 hours before fully retouching. It does transfer with certain foods and onto glasses.
It doesn’t stain your lips either, so at the end of the day when you are removing your makeup you don’t need to go to any extremes to remove it. I am so happy with these that I am going to have to purchase more even though they are expensive, the quality outshines nearly 90% of my other lipsticks.
Shades owned:
Glastonberry – a twist on Glastonbury, designed for the punk/goth in us all. It has shades of deep purple with a blackcurrant red/purple stain underneath to it. Walk of Shame – Brick red rusty and very 90’s inspired, I love this as it is mellow but intense all at the same time, the way you make the rest of your face up dictates how this red settles into your look. Very Victoria – apparently based on Victoria Beckham this pout inducing nude is a perfect balance of pink and brown for the pink beige look that as it settles on your lips gets a deeper shade. I use this with lip cheat pillow talk as the shade is a perfect match for those much desired puffy pout look.
