I have lusted after these lipsticks for a while, before the matte version came out due to their design and luxury offerings so I bit the bullet when the matte revolution range came out on beautylish and brought 3.
Design, this is best of any lipstick brand ever and I mean it. Wrapped up in a cool to touch thin material of rose gold hue. Ridged for the luxury feel and grip. With the CT on the top of the lid, these take pride and place at the top of my spinning lipstick tower. The barrel inside has the same colouring with the words Charlotte Tilbury etched into it and the lipstick easily comes up and goes back down. The name of the lipstick is labelled on the bottom of the case of which is the same brand colouring of plumy red that Charlotte Tilbury is known for.
Formula of these matte lipsticks is delish. They rethink your understanding of matte, these although they do settle on your lips for a longer lasting effect do not fully dry out to make your lips do the same, and they remain creamy so you can still let your lips touch each other and move the around without that cakey dried up feeling. There is no need to use a lip liner however I do for the purpose of reshaping my lips to look more even, as I have not seen any feathering and bleeding into the surrounding skin from these lipsticks, even the intense dark of purple stayed right where I wanted it. Wearing down happens from the centre of the lips around the 3 hour mark but a quick smack of the lips together to move the lipstick around sees it even out for a good 5-6 hours before fully retouching. It does transfer with certain foods and onto glasses.
It doesn’t stain your lips either, so at the end of the day when you are removing your makeup you don’t need to go to any extremes to remove it. I am so happy with these that I am going to have to purchase more even though they are expensive, the quality outshines nearly 90% of my other lipsticks.
Shades owned:
Glastonberry – a twist on Glastonbury, designed for the punk/goth in us all. It has shades of deep purple with a blackcurrant red/purple stain underneath to it. Walk of Shame – Brick red rusty and very 90’s inspired, I love this as it is mellow but intense all at the same time, the way you make the rest of your face up dictates how this red settles into your look. Very Victoria – apparently based on Victoria Beckham this pout inducing nude is a perfect balance of pink and brown for the pink beige look that as it settles on your lips gets a deeper shade. I use this with lip cheat pillow talk as the shade is a perfect match for those much desired puffy pout look.
Ok so I'll pretend I didn't see the price above! I've been a ostrich in regards to the price. I buy mine off beautylish and as its in USD I just pretend it's NZD. Don't judge!
Anyway the packaging is stunning. Rose gold, heavy canisters that are like pure luxury. There is the CT logo on the lids thats stamped in. The lids stay put. No way of popping off by accident.
The bullets are shaped different to standard ones. They looks very robust.
Now these are matte but not the normal old matte. They are moisturising, they stay on the lips, yet they don't make your lips look dry or need to use a balm to keep moisturised.
The 2 I have in my hand as I type are Red carpet red it's like a bright red more pinky than blood red
Walk of shame a awesome nude brown. It's one of my most favorite shades.
These slide onto the lips ready well. Alot of mattes seem to tug on me as I apply. Not these. It's like silk. I'm not sure what the magic is they use to create these but I love it. Yes ok so I've done a few orders for these, yes I did a order before I got the last one for more of these and yes I'll be buying more at some stage.
Tips: Take the leap of faith and just buy these!
