Was super excited to try out the L'Oreal Paris ELVIVE Extraordinary Clay range as I have oily roots + dry ends and the fact that it has 'clay' in the name intrigued me. I like the packaging, the scent and it's easy to use. I followed the directions on the packaging and applied the shampoo to my wet roots, followed by conditioner on the ends then left them to soak into my hair for a couple of minutes while I shaved then rinsed it out as I always do. I really liked this shampoo as it contains no silicone's and left my hair feeling fresher for longer without weighing it down. I usually wash my hair every second day but found that I can go 3 days now.

LOVE love love the fragrance L'Oreal uses , I would seriously use the fragrance as a perfume!
I really like this Shampoo! It's creamy and bubbles up nicely it's easily worked through the ends . But.... it does dry my hair out and strip my colour :(
I found while rinsing my lengths and ends felt like straw. But that didn't stop me from giving it the full trial. My hair colour really washed out , perhaps it was the clay mask or this?
I told my 14 yr old Daughter to start using this range too as she can wash her hair twice and she have an oil slick head. And one wash later , beautiful soft shiny wonderfully clean and fresh hair...even 3 days later..
Me...no this didn't work for me , my hair was so greasy by day 4 I rewashed. BUT that's ok because this range is perfect for Miss 14 , a blessing in disguise because we'd tried all sorts for her hair.
And the fragrance really lingers in your hair for days
Tips: Colour test haha or you may watch that colour run big time!
My hair is coloured, normally oily at the roots with dry and frizzy ends. After using this, my hair was shiny and smooth, no frizz and no oil! My scalp felt clean and refreshed, not heavy and oily. The only problem I have with this product, as with the conditioner, is the statement on the bottle saying '72 hours of fresh roots and hydrated ends'. It would be more appropriate to say 'up to 72 hours'. Everyone's hair is different so I was not surprised to only get 24-36 hours before noticing the oiliness returning. The packaging is sleek and easy to handle with a convenient flat lid at the bottom of the bottle which stops it from falling. It is easy to open and close with one hand. The smell is a pleasantly fruity, floral fragrance.
Overall, I would say this is definitely a product that works and I will be using it as my everyday Shampoo.
Tips: Use after L'Oreal Elive Extraordinary Detox Clay Mask for extra smoothness and shine.
Like many of the other people using this range, I have oily roots and dry ends. When choosing a shampoo, remove the oil from my scalp while still leaving my ends hydrated. After using this product for two weeks, I definitely feel like this shampoo meets those requirements.
The full price of this product at Countdown is $5.50 and you get 250ml.
After washing out the clay mask, I applied this shampoo on my hair. I washed my hair all over, but really focussed on working the shampoo into my scalp. The shampoo foamed really nicely, so my hair felt clean after I washed it out. A little amount of product went a long way. The smell was my favourite part of this product. It's difficult to describe exactly what it smelt like, but it was very refreshing. It washed out easily and my hair didn't feel like it still had residue on it.
After blow drying, my hair felt light and hydrated. It also looked shiny and smelt amazing. Combined with the other products in this range, I went five days before my hair was oily enough to need a wash again. So this range definitely works!
The packaging is pretty standard, I like the look and the colour that is across the range is nice. The scent for me is quite strong, it's not unpleasant, just strong. I'm not good with strong smells, thankfully this one I can still smell in my hair after but it's not as intense.
The shampoo itself is thick and lightly coloured. I used the normal amount that I use for other shampoo, but it was too much. At first I thought it reacted with the pre-shampoo mask, but when I did it without the mask it lathered up a lot too. I have found after the mask I need to wash twice for it to feel clean, and with most shampoo I do this too. With just the shampoo, one wash is enough for it to have the clean feeling.
My hair feels light and remains oil free longer than the period it says, so I think in conjunction with the conditioner this works really well.
Tips: Don't use as much as you normally would, it lathers well, try a smaller amount first.
Being a shampoo it is really easy to use. It seems thicker than other shampoos I have used and I found I didn't need to use as much. Has a really nice smell that is not too strong and for me lasts all day. I applied to my roots and let it run through the rest of my hair while rinsing. I found it left my hair feeling really clean and quite soft although a little more knotty. Used with the clay mask, hair washing can be stretched out to around 3 days. Without the mask 2 days max for me. Will continue using this as I don't need to wash as much.
Tips: Used a bit too much first time, lathers up really well so not as much needed
I was sent the range to review, and I was super excited about trying the shampoo & conditioner as I have tried so many and never really found the perfect fit. I love the scent, however the shampoo leaves me with that too squeaky clean feeling which is especially disappointing since the pre-shampoo mask makes my hair feel nice and soft. Other than that, it feels like any other run of the mill shampoo, as does the conditioner. You don’t need a lot of either product each time which is great. However I found I was left with the same amount of time where my hair felt good enough not to rewash it - every day or every second day at most, which was quite disappointing. Overall it wasn't a bad shampoo, but it didn't live up to my expectations.
I think this may be my new favourite shampoo! The packaging is pretty, the smell is subtle, and my hair loves it. The shampoo lathers nicely, and rinses off easily. After my hair was rinsed it literally felt squeaky clean. This made me feel confident that the oils were completely washed away. My hair was left feeling very light and soft. Much nicer than it usually is after washing. The feeling lasted for about 3 days before starting to get a little oily, which is slightly longer than what is normal for me. I will definitely be continuing to use this product, along with the matching conditioner.
I used the shampoo as part of the extraordinary care range. The shampoo has a subtle gentle scent and gave a wonderful lather. I didn't need to wash my hair twice which I usually do as it felt so clean on the first rinse. Using this shampoo as part of the range, I've successfully managed to only have to wash my hair twice a week!!!.
Tips: A little goes a long way!
I'm feeling like a negative Nellie about this entire range (which I'm grateful to BR for sending to me!) To keep it brief: The pros: *It cleanses my hair. Hair is left feeling super clean and nourished. In conjunction with the clay mask, my hair felt clean * It smells nice. * A little bit of shampoo goes a long way (when used in conjunction with the mask) * It's a super affordable range ($5.50 ish for a 250ml bottle) * It's easily available
Cons * My hair was left quite fluffy * My hair had an unusual amount of flyaways * It did not keep my oily roots at bay - my hair is just as oily as it always is, maybe, just maybe, more oily...!
On balance, I'm not a fan of this range, I think there's better product out there that do a better job - I prefer the red L'oreal Elvive range, which I've used on and off for a few years.
