My mission is to try all of Lush's face masks. I'm making a pretty good dent and I'm finding ones I like, ones I hate. I like this one!
When this arrived I smelled it straight away. Da heeelll kinda smell was this!? I can't pick out any smell properly, but it smells a bit earthy. When questioned, the man said it smelled like lavender and dirt. So. There you go. It's not an awful smell but it does take a minute to get used to.
On the face it applies nice and easy, with minimal "bits" to get in your way. It dries nicely, I think rather slowly as well which I like. Removal is just as easy - the clay dries and so once wet its revived and bought to life again, so you can move it around and get it off your face. The clay doesn't dry to a hard mask either, it's still quite soft and you can definitely still use your face while its on and dry.
It claims to smooth away wrinkles, and not that I have too many but I haven't noticed it doing anything of the sort. Upon further inspection of my face, my eye wrinkles have lessened slightly, but it could be because of an eye cream I'm using. Who knows.
While it's not something I'd repurchase straight away, I would in future if I wanted a clay mask. It's really nice!
A food mask? Surely this wouldn't do what it promises! But seeing as it's Lush and I love Lush I proceed................with caution. A couple of things annoy me about this Ayesha Mask. Number 1: It's price! But then you must be prepared to pay for natural NZ made products so ok I can look past that one. Number 2: The use by date only lasts 10-14 days in the fridge! I in no way can use this in 10-14 days even using it every day. It's a waste of product to have such a short use by date on it or have such a huge amount of it in the container. Last but not least number 3: the smell! I am NOT a fan of the smell of this mask. It smells of herbs and cucumber which isn't a delight to the nose when I have to wear it on my face.
I always love the little sticker that says who packed the product because it makes it that much more personal and like it was sent with care to me. I can tell Lush products from a mile away in it's no nonsense, clean and simple design with reusable pots and bottles to save on rubbish! I love that about a business.
It almost looks like and has the consistency of guacamole and is so weird to apply to the facial area. Once removed from the fridge though oh the fun putting the mask on! It's an instant hit of refreshing cold to the face which is perfect for the hot summer days we have had recently. In the heat however, it tends to melt a bit and fall off so I tend to put it on and go sit outside where it doesn't matter if it falls off and minimizes clean up operations. I used this mask every day for the 14 days and still had at least four masks left and for the price I think that is a bit much to be left over considering it has such a short time frame to use it in.
After rinsing off and leaving bits of the mask in the sink because it didn't wash down immediately my skin felt refreshed and soft to the touch. I noticed a slight tightening of the skin after the fourteen days which got me excited and willing to try it again if it is to have results like that. I think I would rather try a better smelling mask next time because this one really did make my nostrils cringe despite the good results.
Tips: I used it on my chest area too to help soften and firm it. It worked!
