Lush Olive Branch Body Wash Review

If your body is beaten by the rigours of the rat race, accept an olive branch. The Olive Branch has a welcoming, Mediterranean warmth to it, with fairly traded olive oil to soften your skin, an infusion of vine leaves, mineralising sea salt and the fresh juice of mandarins. When you wash with this one, your mind will be whisked away to mandarin groves and sunny beaches.

Lush Olive Branch Body Wash

I love buying the Lush gift packs (for myself, mainly!), and when I see one that features a bottle of this, I usually pick it up. While I find that sometimes I get a bit 'over' certain Lush shower products before I actually use up the bottle, I enjoy every use of this one. The scent is incredible! It's fresh and full of citrus, but it's also slightly spicy - and not at all overwhelming because of the fresh flavours.

If I had been reviewing this product after finishing my last bottle, I would have given it full marks. Unfortunately, the formula on my latest one was a bit disappointing after what I'd been used to. This particular shower gel doesn't have the thickest formula to begin with, but I found my bottle was really runny. It was a bit hard to control exactly how much I was using each time because of that, but it still lathered up nicely with only a little bit of product.Plus, it's nice knowing that all the Lush products are made nice and fresh.

It's definitely not drying, but I always make sure to follow up with a moisturiser afterwards since it's not a creamy formula and doesn't seem to lock moisture in. It makes me feel really refreshed and I enjoy using it year round, so it's definitely worth a try!

Does the job, while smelling gorgeous

I got this as a birthday gift last week and have been using it since. It comes in the usual pretty Lush Bottle, they're all pretty standard, but the bright orange colour of the shower gel is super pretty. You shake the bottle a little before using to mix everything up, and when you open the lid you are hit with a gorgeous citrus scent.

It works just as well as any other body wash, lathers well, and leaves you feeling nice and clean. My only downer of this product is that it leaves me a little bit 'squeaky' but the feeling doesn't last too long. I'll keep using the bottle, but not sure I would buy it again

Tired of it quickly!

I got this as part of a gift pack called 'All the Best' and have always wanted to try it. It's quite a subtle scent and not too overpowering like some Lush shower gels can be. It smells of mandarins and sweet citrus (if that's even a thing?). I got the small 100g bottle but it was enough to get my fix. It sticks to the Lush design that I love and adore. Usually such bland looking designs make me walk straight past but Lush has a way of attracting my attention with the rustic looking labels and the personal touch of who made it along with the expiration date.

I do think that the name doesn't suit the product. The Olive Branch doesn't give it the oomph it deserves in my opinion. The liquid is an amber colour which gives it an almost fiery appearance. I do like that the opening because it allows the right amount of liquid to be squeezed out without too much wastage.

When lathering it on my skin it acts just like any other supermarket bought shower gels but without the harsh chemical which my skin more often than not hates. It fills my shower with the heavenly smell of the Mediterranean. The mandarin is evident more than anything. After rinsing off my skin is feeling quite smooth and cleansed but to me if there aren't a multitude of bubbles I am not clean enough so comes round two with the gel.

After a while the smell becomes boring and the task of washing twice to give me peace of mind that I am clean enough quickly becomes tiresome. I put left it on the shelf for weeks before using again. The thing that also makes me not want to reach for it more often is that it develops a milky substance over the top and no matter how much I shake it, the milky substance remains. I am for now over it but who knows I may find my love for it again.

Tips: Shake regularly to minimize the milky substance settling

A lush Best Seller

This was another items in one of the numerous Lush gift packs i got given (or that i brought myself, don't judge). This was actually a product i was really excited about trying because it seems to be a really populour product that is included in a lot of the Lush gift packs, aswell as being a bestseller on their website.

This shower gel comes in the typical lush container, which is made from a clear soft plastic, with a black lid. Because its a soft plastic, it is really easy to squeeze the product out, but becauase the lid only has a small hole, it means you can control how much comes out, so there is less wastage. Always a good thing when your paying $13.00 for 100ml of body wash.

This shower gel is a gorgeous amber orange colour. Its stunning but sometimes it separates and get like a milky look that sits on the top of the product. However, a good shake seems to fix that!

This shower gel is a good consistency. Its like a gel body wash, and i think that's the best way i can describe it. It has a gorgeous slightly citrus scent to it, but i also find it smells kind of masculine! Which is great, because it means that the other half likes using it too. On second thought, that may be a downside. I can be a bit selfish when it comes to sharing my Lush Products, but who can blame me!

This product lathers up well, and cleans skin without stripping it. I find it also leaves my skin feeling hydrated if anything, which might be because of the olive oil.

Overall, a nice body wash for Lush, but not one of my favourites.

Lush Olive Branch Body Wash 100g

I got given a gift pack for my birthday that contained a 100g bottle of the olive branch shower gel! At first i hated the smell of it but thought i may as well keep using it to see if i would get over the smell or not. It is a very fresh scent! A few weeks have passed now and i have finished the bottle. I like that it wasn't thick but it lathered up really easy and a little bit went a long way. Would i buy it my self? No because i am more of a sweet scented girl so if you prefer more sweet scents this one defiantly wont be for you! although in the end i didn't hate it i also didn't love it.

Skin Softening Gel

I got this shower gel as a 100mL size as part of a gift pack. Its not something I would have picked out for myself at lush as I'm a big fan of their sweeter shower gels such as Flying Fox and Snow Fairy. This is an amber coloured shower gel which I find to be a lot more runny in consistency than their other gels. It doesn't smell like olives rather it has a musky tone to it (maybe this is the vine leaves coming through) with a background note of citrus. I would describe it as a very softly scented gel. Upon using it I find that even though it is quite watery it lathers up amazingly on my loofah and I don't need to use heaps. The bonus for this gel is it really does moisturise the skin. Everytime I use it I find that my skin is so smooth and soft and I feel like my skin sucks up all the goodness in it. Overall its a nice shower gel. Its something I probably wouldn't pick out for myself as Lush have such an amazing range of other gels, but if someone bought it for me or it came in one of their giftboxes I'd happily use it again. I like how soft it leaves my skin, but find that the scent kind of gets lost as it is so subtle, and scent is one of the main things I go for when I sniff my way through lush!

Tips: A little goes a long way- a few drops on a loofah is all you need.

Super skin softener

I got this in a gift box I purchased during Lush's epic Boxing Day sale. I love Lush shower gels but I've never purchased this one before. This is my friends absolute favourite shower gel. I love the way it makes the bathroom smell afterwards, but when I've smelt it in the bottle or on myself? Nope, not for me. Just a little bit too manly for me despite the fruit mandarins and bergamot.

After reading Shazatron's brilliant review of this, I told myself it was the scent of King's Landing every time I used it. This definitely helped! You need to use this with a shower puff or sponge as it is so runny. I wouldn't even describe it as a gel, it's that runny. I give this a really good shake each time I used it to mix the liquid and olive oil together. Despite being so runny it does lather up really well even using the smallest amount.

The smell has slowly grown on me and I've also discovered the main benefit of this. The inclusion of olive oil leave my skin so soft that I can completely skip using body lotion afterwards (something I would never normally do) So this is a great wash to use in the morning when time is short and I need waking up fast. It might not be my favourite scent but it is uplifting none the less.

Whilst I wouldn't go out and repurchase this, if I did acquire another bottle, I would be less reluctant to use it, due to its super skin softening effect.

Tips: This would make a good unisex body wash if you are willing to share!

Even stronger scent

I bought this body wash as when I smelled the options in Lush, this was my favourite - but I regret my decision slightly. It has that warm, slightly spicy scent which isn't what I would usually go for, but thought I'd try something different. But when applying it to a lufa and using it, I found the scent to be quite overwhelming and strong, much more so than just sniffing the bottle in store. It does a perfectly good job otherwise but I wouldn't buy it again.

Doesn't stand out

I'm a huge Lush fan kind of obsessed almost but who doesn't love Lush all the beautifully scented products, the fact they help out the little guys, ethically sourced ingredients, The list goes on.

So I do most of my lush buying online and I had scrolled past this numerous times because nothing really stood out about it to me. Once it arrived I did a wee sniff then a try and it still doesn't stand out.....

I ordered a 100ml just to try it before getting a larger bottle if I liked it. But this shower gel is not something that I love and would order over and over. It's nice but not the typical Lush product that punches you in the face with the scent.

The colour of this is an orange colour with like a white cream that has settled on the top so a big shake is a must. It's also quite a runny shower gel especially when it's warmed up. The scent is a subtle mandarin not strong at all and it doesn't linger on your skin like most lush products long after your shower. It does leave your skin silky smooth and feeling amazing but just without the scent

I probably won't buy this again purely because I love the stronger scented shower gels.

Okay

I got this body wash as a gift. I find it okay, but nothing special. The smell is pleasing and it is quite nice and smooth on the skin. I actually have used it quite a few times as a bubble bath. It bubbles up really well, smells nice and it feels very luxurious to have a bubble bath (with tea and chocolate of course!)

Tips: It makes a great bubble bath!
