A few weeks ago I went into Lush to search for some massage bars. Their massage bars are the only thing that doesn't make my partners skin breakout in a rash. We've tried oils and creams but he can't use it. I thought I would try something different.
One bar is shaped oval. I was quite surprised with the thickness of the bar , it was thinner than I thought. It wasn't chunky like the strawberry one I tried. Inside of this bar is these stones. Their not all smooth . Some are sharp with jagged edges. The scent of this bar is A+ gorgeous Rosey scent. Not smokey like the shower gel.
First application this bar takes a while to warm to the skin. It slowly melts and instantly I can smell this fragrant aroma of Roses. But I noticed the sharp beads were rough against the skin. So I decided to break the bar up , hand pick all the jagged stones out of this bar . After doing this it made it so much more pleasant to use.
Out of one bar I managed to get four 30 minute body massages. It is quite pricey for one bar. I would like Lush to change those beads into something softer for the skin. Loved the scent . I wouldn't purchase again because it seemed very tidious.
I have I tried a few massage bars from Lush but this is my fave out of all the scents. I love the scent of the Rose Jam but I really wanted a product that would leave me smelling like that since when I use the shower gel the scent doesn't seem to linger. It's like Lush heard my desire for the scent and created a massage bar. This bar smells rose jam licious. If you love the scent of rose jam you'll love how this smells. The bar is made with cocoa and shea butter, glycerin, argan and a bit of coconut oil and of course rose essential oils to give it that amazing scent. The butters and oils in the bar smooths nicely on to my skin but of course if the bar is cold it won't transfer on to your skin much. You massage it in and the scent just lingers on your skin for hours even the next day there are still hints of powdery rose on my skin. If you put a bathrobe after applying on you'll smell rose jam on it the next day. There is just one con about this bar and that's the bright pink sago beads. For the first few uses they don't seem a big deal but then as you use the bar a few more times and it gets thinner you find they are sharp, scratchy and can stain things. In fact they make the bar more likely to break in pieces because those bits don't melt and the massageable butters and the bar gets thin around those pieces you're left with oils and sharp bits to moisturize and massage your skin with. To give you an idea of how sharp, imagine the coarsest sugar or salt you can find and that it doesn't dissolve as you rub your skin. I honestly think this bar could've been one of Lush's bestselling massage bars but I fail to see the logic of putting sharp bits of bright pink, does nothing for your skin beads. It does make the bar look decorated but that's it. And I think rose petals or ground rose petals could've been used instead and look gorgeous or an embossed or raised design on the bar much like the Yes Yes Yes bar would've been sufficient. My skin is tan so any pink doesn't show up much on my skin but it did temporarily stain my bathtub. I think if it weren't for the fact that my siblings like taking hot baths and that the hot water helped loosen the dye from the surface of the tub, the tub would be still stained. I was really lucky I got this bar half price since I only got a few uses out of it before it got really scratchy, because I love the smell. But because of the beads I'm definitely sure I'm not going to repurchase this, even if it was discounted. I'm not even sure if I am going to use this up just because trying to pick the tiny sharp bits out of the butters that melted in your hands so you can massage your skin is a tedious process and like trying to pick out little bits of broken glass. And I wouldn't give anyone a massage with this bar. The little bits stick to my skin and rub on to my clothes and sheets and rub me the wrong way.
Tips: Don't buy this bar unless you happy just getting a few uses out of it. It smells amazing but the bright pink beads ruin it. If you are going to use it use it in the shower where if the beads stain the shower floor or the bathtub hot water from a bath can lift the stain.
