I tend to go for very bold colours (Lady Danger, Cyber, Viva Glam) and my main concern is if the colour will be consistent throughout the day - which it is. I also sometimes combine 2 colours to get a different shade.
With matte colours that I use, the lips can feel quite dry after a few hours if you don't apply balm before hand.
I do notice a bit of bleeding as the day progresses but normally only after 4 or 5 hours. Mostly stand up well to eating/ drinking.
Tips: I often get a white line where my lips meet after a few hours of wearing lipstick or gloss so find it easier to just wipe off that area and reapply, rather than start over.
Why oh why have I never tried MAC before. Oh yeah, I thought it was expensive. Well slap my face with a wet fish, was I wrong!!!
My beautiful friend Colleen sent me my very first MAC as a ROAK. Goodness me, was I blown away.
Anywhooos... The simple black box. Simple and pretty. Open it up and a wee bullet shaped lip stick falls out. Black with a silver stripe and MAC words. There is a shimmer in the black.
Pop the lid and silver canister with a black MAC logo. Wow they package them so nicely.
Twist it up and the colour (rebel) looks gorgeous. I swatched on my hand and wow. I'm in love already.
My first time at wearing it... Slides over my lips but sticks. It's like it sticks the colour hard on. The tip of the lipstick is very pointed which I love. I can get close into the Cupid's bow. The smell, gosh I can smell butterscotch and vanilla. Mmmm heaven.
Here is where I say lippys fall off my lips. They don't stay long.... Or so I thought! The pigment of this is amazing. It stayed all day. No touch ups. It doesn't dry my lips out. I'm in MAC heaven.
So my wee Colleen got me so hooked, off I trotted (couldn't swim there :( ) to buy 2 more!
The only negative I have is when they are all in my holder, I have no idea what colour is which unless I open or flip to read the bottom. No I'm not putting them in upside down, cause I love the shape so much.
Now I have found 2 amazing brands, I grabbed all my old lippys and binned the lot!
170+ shades... I've now got at least 20! with a couple more on the way! A lot of shopping for me coming up
Tips: Don't buy cheap lippys. Invest in these. Make sure you exfoliate so the lips look kissable and not flakey
Purchased the rebel matte finish lippy from mac. WoW. Stays on all night, makes your lips look fuller and the colour really makes things go pop. Very happy with this product as most lippys smudge and i didnt have that problem with this.
Tips: apply a clear gloss for that perfect finish xO
I've purchased a few of these recently and adore the bright colour on the first swoop. I got MAC Red and it's so pigmented, it lasts a good few hours before wearing off and fades beautifully once it does.
I've got a few more colours in my wish-list. It's definitely worth the splurge!
I've just purchased Fresh Moroccan (frosty finish) from the the Mac store after trying out a few colours while waiting to be served, just couldn't resist this deep mauve lippy with a slight gold shimmer. So $40 later I owned it. The pigment is really deep and makes your lips look full and glossed up. Don't need to keep applying over and over to get depth, it just goes on so easily and stays on until I eat, drink or lick it off. This one though has a slight grainy feel to it and not as smooth as some of my other ones. It actually has a nice smell to it too but can't say what it smells like but after a while the smell disappears. I would like to buy another one but after reading they have forty different colours, that's going to take me a while to choose. I think $40 is a lot of money for a lipstick that comes in packaging that could look a little more classier but then that's my opinion.
Tips: Need to reapply after eating and drinking.

Tips: if you get 6 empty mac lipsticks you can trade in for a new lipstick out of a certain list of colours! :)
Mac Lippies are my all time favourite go to product! I love the vanilla scent and the Amplified finish is my favourite, the only finish I am not crazy about is the Frost. I like to order mine from Maccosmetics.com saves so much money! In my collection so far I have 7, St Germain, Pure Heroine, Candy Yum Yum, Goddess of the Sea, Viva Glam Rhianna, Rebel, and my new ultimate fave Kelly Yum Yum!!!
Tips: Watch out for fakes!! - Mac is probably one of the most counterfeited brands in the world! If a deal seems to good to be true, trust me it will be!! Authentic Mac is only ever sold at Mac counters. They do not sell old stock to online dealers as brand protection and reputation is very important to Mac!
I am a relatively new Mac-aholic! I currently own Russian Red, Craving, Viva Glam Rihanna, Girl About Town and Rebel (also have Kelly Yum Yum on the way!). I adore the vanilla scent and awesome slick packaging. I am pretty happy with the staying power of them, have only marked it down slightly as some seem to last longer than others. I love how there is such a large range of colours and also the special limited edition packaged ones are so cute!
Tips: Once I have applied my lipstick, I put my finger in my mouth, close my lips around it and then pull my finger out....sounds weird but it stops me getting lipstick on my teeth!
MAC have a large range of lipsticks and everyone I have tried on has been an amazing formula. They have all the colors I could think of and are still coming out with more. They apply smooth and even onto your lips. They are very long lasting provided you aren't planning to have a big meal.
Tips: Using a lip liner helps to improve the look, make it look more tiny and last longer.
I love the texture of MAC lipstick, it's creamy enough to feel light and hydrating, but not so much that you feel it's going to slide right off. It'll last for hours every time, and without drying out your lips.
It has a mild but tasty smell, and comes in a huge variety of colours. The only negative aspect is a the price, but if that doesn't put you off it really is a lipstick for everyone.
Tips: Buy it online rather than in New Zealand, half the price means better value.
