We all want something that can remove makeup without hassle. A makeup removing towel sounds a bit too good to be true if you ask me. So I was intrigued to find out if this really did the trick...or not.
The first step was to machine wash it before use as per instructed on the resealable packet/bag, which is the norm when washing towels anyway - no big deal.
I found it very easy to use. It says on the packet to wet one side of the towel with warm water and the rest is pretty easy...wash your face! When I wet the towel it absorbed so much water that it was drenched as you would expect but when I wrung the towel I couldn't believe how "dry" it felt. It felt moist on my face but felt dry on my hands. The first time I used it I did find I had to rinse it under water a couple of times as I was second guessing the dryness of it.
One side of the towel is more fluffy than the other so you will have a preference on which side to use. It feels extremely soft and gentle on my skin. I did feel there was a slight pulling feeling because of how dry the towel feels. But by not wringing the towel so much that helps that, and it won't drip.
To the makeup removing part - it removed the bulk of my makeup in an instant..in one swipe! I had to go over my lashes a few times to remove stubborn mascara. However it didn't completely remove my makeup. I used a cotton pad & micellar water after using the towel to check how much makeup was left on my skin and there was a fair bit. Although it left my skin looking like there was no makeup there was actually quite a bit of foundation residue that somehow looked unnoticeable on my skin. I did like the size of the towel though, as there's two sides there's plenty of empty space to go over with on your face.
Cleaning: It says to throw in the machine and re-use. I actually got this at a good time because I went out of town for a few days and took this with me. I love that it comes with a resealable bag, perfect for travel. The first time I used it, a machine wash the next day removed the makeup. However after I got back from my 3 day holiday a machine wash didn't remove the makeup (I personally don't bother with washing if I'm only away for a few days). I've used it again and found that a hand wash is quicker and easier just using a soap, wring it out and it's practically dry ready for the next use.
Final thoughts: Although it removed the bulk of my makeup I still had to use a cleanser or another method of removing makeup (micellar water or balm). It's great for travelling and great for a quick fast makeup remover to remove most of your makeup.
I received this product from beautyreview for a trial and I very much enjoyed using it.
The towel is relatively easy to use, you wet one side of it first and then rub off your makeup in a circular motion with the towel.
I found that when I washed my face after work (which I wear a full, heavy, primed face of makeup for) the towel was only able to get off about 80% of my foundation rather than all of it. But when I was wearing slightly lighter makeup it was much easier to remove.
I found it also a little bit challenging to remove my mascara, while it was able to remove it after a lot of rubbing, my mascara caused the towel to be stained with black marks (even after washing) which of course seems to be expected but still is annoying for my inner perfectionist. For easiest mascara removal I would recommend applying a special eye makeup remover on the lashes first and then use the towel.
I really liked this towel as an alternative to using makeup wipes or removal solutions because of the fact it is purely water doing the removal - surely that has to be good for your skin! My only concern is that it is leaves some foundation residue when you have a heavier makeup look, which if you didn't wash your face before bed would end up staying on while you slept - not great for your skin.
Overall, I will definitely continue to enjoy using this towel but it most likely on an average day I will use it in conjunction with other removal products such as mascara removal solution - does this defeat the purpose of it? Perhaps. If I have a lighter face of makeup though this may be easy to quickly remove it before washing my face!
I would recommend this product mostly to those who do not wear too much makeup - however it would not go unused in anyone's makeup kit.
