Max Factor Miracle Smooth Primer Review

What more can I say other than this may be my new holy grail primer. The packaging is simple, in a clear plastic pump pack, with gold accents. The product is a thick, white and scent-less cream. I love a scentless product as the idea of too many scents competing on my face freaks me out. I pat and press it on and I can see my pores being smoothed out, and my skin begins to glow. So how does it work with foundations? I've tried it with a few, including my Max Factor foundation and it's the best primer I've ever used. My foundations glide on and they stick around - even after a full day of work, kids, cooking and housework. Completely recommend.

I dunno what's with Max Factor and their lack of info on their bottles. I don't like it. I like being told all the things a product does on the bottle, rather than having to find the info through their site - and even then it's not much better! So first negative, lack of info.

The bottle is just plain plastic, covered in an unevenly applied sticker. Has the thought crossed my mind to peel it off and fix it? You bet. The bottle is one of those fandangly magic ones, when you pump and the product is pushed up from the bottom - I dunno how they work but it is magical.

The primer is white, and looks a lot like a moisturizer. It smells like one too, but then it also has that underlying noodle smell we talked about in my foundation review. Very, very odd thing to fragrance your products with. I personally would've loved no fragrance.

The pump dispenses a large amount, its maybe a bit smaller than a baked bean. Maybe not. If the bean was a circle, we would be on the money. It's very thick, again like a moisturizer, and I have no doubt the bean amount of primer is enough to cover your whole face. My skin was a lot smoother after use but it also felt like a moisturizer I hadn't rubbed in properly.

When I was trialing this, I only used it on half my face under foundation, so I could see how it played out. The results (won't) shock you! Foundation applied about the same, maybe slightly easier over this primer. The foundation on and around my eyelids was actually quite tolerable, whereas on the side that had none, it was cakey and looked like I hadn't washed the sleep from my eyes. I also feel like the primed side of my face was a lot softer than the other side, but as for wear time, I noticed they were about the same.

I truly wanted to like this but again, I don't think I do. Maybe if it was used under a foundation I do like, we would be okay but otherwise, this primer is really nothing special, and for the price I'd rather get something else.

This primer goes on smmmooottthhh!! It really creates a nice even smooth surface prepped for foundation. I have acne scarring and sometimes that can be obvious through make up, this primer created a smooth effect and made the foundation stay and sit really well.

Finally! A primer that doesn't feel like I'm caking literal silicone on my face. This got me so super excited when I felt the texture.

It felt really similar in terms of feel and texture to just putting moisturiser on, and once I blended it on, I could barely feel it was a primer at all, just how I like it!

The product comes out of the cute clear & gold accented bottle nice and easy with its little pump top, much better than sticking your fingers into a pottle of product and getting them all grimy and weird feeling so this was a big favourite part of the product for me.

This primer gave me a really good base for my large pore skin, and just putting this on prior to foundation made my skin smoother and silkier, making me ready for it's partner product foundation. This product definitely contributed well to stopping my makeup from 'slipping' and seemed to last well in all conditions I put it through, so it's definitely a 'buy again' product.

I had never user primer before but I must say I'm in love with how it makes my skin feel, I have dry skin and while using this I cant stop touching my face, it feels so soft and smooth. I use it after applying my moisturizer and before using foundation.

It comes in a pump bottle which I love, one pump into my hand and I rub it all over my face with the palms of my hands (I'm not sure if this is how its meant to be done as I'm a bit of a make up novice but it works), I then wait a few minutes before applying my foundation.

I'm a person who always sweats on my face, so most of the time my make up runs away, not the case when using this! My foundation stayed put all day for the 3 days I have tried it so far. I went for a run to put it to the test and still my foundation stayed put. I'm very excited about this!

It has a subtle smell, I cant describe it, but its a nice smell, and I would describe the consistency to be similar to moisturiser.

I will continue to use this and would definately recommend it to my friends

After recieving the advice about 2 years ago from BR to prime, I tried and was converted. My skin is oily/combination and when I recieved this primer to trial it was with the Max Factor foundation. Using both, I got fantastic coverage which lasted all day. Then I took a deep breath and tried the foundation with no primer (shock horror)! On application, I had to use more foundation especially over my nose, which has its own pore issues. Took longer to apply as well. At the end of the day (having done everything else the same including setting spray) while there was coverage, it wasn't as good, so definitely didn't have the lasting power as when using the primer.

The primer itself is odourless white cream and one full pump is the perfect amount for my face to get complete coverage.

This is one of the best primers I have used and is priced accordingly.

This primer has a light consistency so I don't think it does a lot to smooth the appearance of wrinkly skin (compared to other primers that are thicker and almost like wall filler to fill the cracks). It does however apply very smoothly and evenly with fingertips and gives skin a nice finish- not matte but not shiny either - very neutral and natural. There doesn't seem to be any shimmer in the product which is good because it's not always what you want or need in a product.

One pump is perfect for the face - anymore and you get a sort of white ghosting thing happening and have to pat it off a bit! I suspect that too much will also not mix well when you go to apply your foundation either.

It initially has a very faint (very very faint) scent that isn't my cup of tea - sort of fake chemical smell but it goes away once dry in less than a minute.

I think this is a really nice primer for under foundation - it provides a really nice and even surface for your foundation to sit on. Foundation lasts all day using this and doesn't melt, move or become super shiny as the day progresses.

My skin isn't oily (but rather normal - dehydrated) but I can still get a mean shine happening just from the layers that I put on my skin -moisturiser-serum-primer-foundation - with this I didn't get any shine all day - even after air travel and hot, sweaty temperatures.

Some primers seem to do too much and end up too hard to use to get a good result and others seem to do nothing and are pointless. This primer is pretty foolproof, easy to use and gives great results. A definitely everyday primer for me.

Packaging has no instructions - not a problem for me but some people might find it so.

The Max Factor Miracle Smooth Primer comes in an attractive pump bottle. The pump made it a very easy product to use and I found that one pump was the perfect amount of primer for a single application.

I applied the primer after cleansing and moisturizing my face. I then applied a foundation over the primer. The primer went on very smooth and has a nice silky feeling. It felt very lightweight on my skin and suitable for daily use.

I used the primer under the matching Max Factor foundation and under a Clinique foundation and found that my both foundations looked smoother than using it without a primer. I am in my 30's and have some fine lines as well as uneven skin from acne pit scarring from when I was in my 20's and the primer made a noticeable difference on both of these issues.

I really liked this primer and would totally use it again and again! I am also one of those people who don't normally bother with primer (eek naughty) so this primer has shown me the light! It really does make your skin look much more flawless.

BEST PRIMER EVER!!!!

I was soooooo impressed!! I thought being a cream like product it wouldn't do much but boy was I wrong!!!!

I have oily skin and large pores on my nose, I had been using babyskin primer, which is kinda crap at times if you don't apply it right. But the miracle smooth primer you cannot apply it wrong.

My foundation stays on ALL day my skin looks smooth and hydrated and best of oil it actually helps control shine!

No more sliding foundation!!!! I really love this! I applied with fingers as you would a moisturiser.

Easy to hold pump bottle , no mess , no fuss and no tube squeezing yay!!!

I was lucky enough to be selected for a BR trial team to review this product. This primer is in a pump bottle and the packaging is nice and very user friendly. The pump gives enough but I have been doing a pump and a bit and it gives me good coverage. The primer itself is white and is a bit thicker than others I have used in the past. I haven't noticed any particular smell or fragrance associated with it which I prefer from a primer. I apply it with my foundation brush and it applies well, sinks into my skin fast and I can apply foundation on top of it straight away. With every other primer I leave it to sit for at least a couple of minutes before moving onto the next step but there's absolutely no need to do that with this one. This primer creates a fantastic base to apply my makeup onto and leaves my skin looking smooth and flawless. The foundation I applied on top of this lasted well all day. I have really enjoyed trialling this product and will be purchasing it when I run out of it.
