I really loved the Max Factor Skin Luminizer Foundation. It is an easy product to use, needing only a small amount for complete coverage. I found the colour a little light, even though I tested the colours, but I found that you could layer without a big build up to get more colour. I didn't think that it lasted particularly well throughout the day but is a good product more like a bb cream with some coverage but not lasting. It gives somewhat of a healthy glow and dewey finish. The pump dispenser is great and means easy to control the flow. My skin showed warm tones initially after applying but it lost them after an hour or two. I would buy again if needing to buy a budget foundation.

Tips: Less is more.
I was so pleased to receive this foundation as a trial from BR. I was running low on my usual Bobbi Brown foundation at the time (as well as my primer!) so was pleased to be able to try something new. It wasn’t a completely happy end to this trial as I will detail below – I did end up repurchasing my BB foundation.
The packaging to this is almost exactly the same as the primers – just a gold pump rather than a white one. I like that the container is clear so you know how much you have left. Yes the pump dirties the inside of the clear lid – but I’m not bothered. It does somewhat annoy me that the gold band at the bottom just covers the fact that the foundation doesn’t fill the whole container, but I’ll get over that. The pump works well and delivers the perfect amount of product for my face.
Application was a funny one. I have tried this with a stippling brush and found it delivered a quite sheer coverage, and there were a few streaks to pat out. I found it was buildable in this form though which was good for over my cheeks. Next I tried the beautyblender which gave a much better finish and made it meld with my skin rather than sitting on top. This still gave a medium finish even once built up. So I personally wouldn’t wear this without putting concealer on.
Just to mention although I didn’t mark it down for this – the colour match wasn’t excellent on me. Although I picked the lightest shade on me it looked to have a bit of a yellow/orange undertone which didn’t match my neutral/pink toned crazy white skin.
I think this product may have broken out my skin as I don’t usually get pimples on my cheeks or nose, however I was testing the primer from Max Factor at the same time so I don’t feel like I can really pinpoint the cause to this foundation.
The lasting power on this was pretty good, although after eight hours with primer and powder it still was breaking down by the end of the work day. But I have only ever found expensive foundations that don’t do this so really a quick fix is just to take a powder with you. It also feels light on the skin with no cakey feeling.
To be honest (which I always am) I would totally look past some of the flaws in this foundation and repurchase it if the colour was a good match for me as the price is so reasonable. But unfortunately it just really isn’t a good match.
Tips: Using a beautyblender or makeup sponge makes for a great application.
First of all thank you BR for selecting me to be a part of this trial! I have dry skin so finding the perfect foundation can be a bit hard (I'm not a fan of matte!).
When the product arrived I was able to take a moment to get a feel for the packaging and much to my relief the bottle has a pumper with a bottom that pushes the product up, which are my favourite kind! There's nothing like the frustration of a bottle of product that doesn't pump out the stuff at the bottom! The bottle is solid plastic topped with a solid plastic lid that clicks on securely. Whilst the pumper itself feels like plastic, the quality feels good enough that it won't break if you pushed it too hard.
The Skin Luminzer Foundation claims to instantly capture light for a healthy looking glow. I found this didn't give the luminous glow I hoped for but I really like the natural and fresh looking coverage it gave. There appears to be a small amount of shimmer in some parts of the foundation which gave some glow but it didn't stand out in my opinion. I found this foundation applied easily with the Smooth Miracle Primer and the same with other primers I tried it with. I also found that I got better coverage using a brush over a blender or using my fingers. In terms of lasting power, it did a pretty good job! I experienced a tiny bit of creasing around my nose area but nothing a quick touch up couldn't fix. There was no clinging to any flaking skin either. By the end of a typical work day I did notice there was some fading but nothing too major. In saying that, I prefer a natural look when applying foundation so I didn't necessarily layer this foundation up for a complete makeup look. I did test the foundation for layering and this proved no issues - it was easy to add extra coverage, the foundation didn't move or look cakey.
One thing that was noticeable in this foundation was the scent, it wasn't off putting by any means but I could smell it every now & then during the day. It kind of reminded me of sunscreen and the scent of a clay mask. The texture of the foundation was very light, it was easy to blend and as stated above it didn't look, or feel, cakey. There was never a time during the day where I felt it was too heavy on my face, it was perfect for my skin type.
Would I repurchase?: I would repurchase. I enjoyed using the foundation and I got good coverage, it had a lasting effect and didn't look or feel cakey. I feel the price could be a bit steep but because I have enjoyed using it I wouldn't mind spending this amount. It's also clear by the small amount I have been using each day that this foundation will last a while.
Tips: If you really want a dewy dewy look use a facial oil underneath; apply foundation using a brush for better coverage; start off with using one pump of foundation (this was enough to cover my entire face).
This is the first time I have tried a Max Factor foundation. I usually stick to powder foundations, as I find that (with my combination skin) the liquid does tend to come off towards the end of the day and doesn't seem to sit well on my skin. I used the Natural 50 shade, I am fair skinned with dark blonde hair. This new range also comes with a luminzing primer which I recommend using beforehand to get the best application; in one pump it smooths onto your skin easily and feel soft and silky, giving a good base for the foundation to go onto. I like the transparent bottle as you can see how much you've got left, and the way that they swirled the foundation in with the moisturiser looks cool. The pump application is also very hygienic. I found that one whole pump of foundation was a little too much product for me, so be careful when dispensing it out. Although, I guess it would depend on how much coverage you were after. I used a foundation brush to buff into my skin once applied with fingers and found it took a minute or two to apply evenly all over my face, which is pretty quick. It gives an even coverage but I did need extra concealer on blemishes. Once on it makes your skin appear to glow so it's definitely a luminizing product. Coverage on most of my face lasts all day, even whilst being outside in the rain. However, it did appear to wear off on oily areas like my nose, which I think you could minimize my applying some powder. I really like this foundation as it wakes up your skin and gives you a really healthy glow.
Tips: Use the Max Factor primer before applying this foundation to get the best look. Apply with a good brush to blend in. Use a powder if you have oily skin.
I got to try this Rose Beige foundation through a Beauty Review trial. I’ve loved Max Factor products since I worked in a pharmacy in the 1980s – I’ve never found a product that hasn’t been lovely. Jaclyn Smith was a fabulous brand ambassador for the company in those days, and a key reason why I was drawn to their products.
The product comes in a classy looking bottle. It’s clear plastic but with gold around the bottom and the top, including the pump, and a clearly lid. Simple but attractive – my favourite combination. It is light and easy to grip and hold.
The foundation pumps out easily. It is quite thick, and when applied to the skin settles very quickly. It feels soft and powdery. If you hold it up close to your nose you can detect a slight powdery but pleasant scent.
I’ve been applying it each morning after using the Max Factor Smooth Miracle primer. I find it applies very evenly and leaves my complexion looking smooth, even, and clear of blemishes. And it leaves the subtle glow that it claims to leave. It lasts all day and doesn’t smudge or fade. The product claims to deliver radiant and healthy looking skin, and in my opinion it does this very well. I’d gone off foundation, finding it a bit heavy for my skin, but now I’m a convert gain. I think the Rose Beige may be slightly darker than I need, but that’s not a deal breaker and I felt it lifted my skin during the recent gloomy dark days anyway.
I certainly will consider repurchasing, and the price at $38.99 seems fair for the quality of the product. Max Factor did not disappoint me!
Tips: Cleanse, tone, moisturise, prime, apply, shine!!!
Max Factor is (up until now) not a brand that would naturally be in my suite of brands that I would shop within or head towards when I needed something new. That said, they were first on the CC cream trend and I really loved that product so I was really up for trialing more products within the brand.
I'm not a heavy foundation liker, I like sheer coverage so this product had me at 'illuminating', and after all, who doesn't want to be illuminated? The product comes in a nifty pump pack, SO much better than a tube and (god forbid) a bloody glass bottle where you need to bang it on your hand and then tip it upside down to get the last of it out..but sorry I digress.
I selected the Rose Beige colour after colour matching in store and it suited me perfectly. I applied it over my Max Factor Primer (another review and now another favourite) with a stipple brush. It goes on easily and blended n really nicely. For me it gave a sheer coverage and a real glow to my skin..actually I think I heard someone say the word 'dewy' and I'm pretty sure it wasn't me..so other people are noticing!
I loved this foundation, I found it sheer, and light and it perfectly matched my skin tone. I didn't try it without the MF primer, but I always wear a primer anyhow.
When i'm not wearing a BB or CC cream my go to foundation has previously been Estee's Doublewear. But I think i've just found my new favourite and it's also opened my eyes up to heading to the Max Factor counter more frequently.
Tips: I used a stipple brush and got an amazing finish.
I was lucky enough to be chosen to trial this product. The shade I trialed is 40 - Light Ivory. I have wanted to use a luminizing foundation for a while now because I have dry skin, and now that I am in my 30s, fine lines are showing. So I was excited to receive this.
The foundation comes in a clear, plastic tubular bottle, with gold accents, and a gold pump nozzle. The nozzle is covered by a clear plastic lid. Because the bottle is clear, you can see the colour of the foundation inside, and the white stripes running through it.
The bottle is nice and light to hold, and the pump is easy to use. It gives out a small amount of foundation with each pump. About 3 pumps is enough to cover my whole face.
The foundation is easy to apply, and easy to blend into my skin. It does not really have a scent either.
I was impressed with the coverage of this foundation. It is much thicker than my other 2 brands that I have recently used. If you are looking for good coverage, and you don't have any blemishes, then this would be all you need to use each day. It also does not settle into fine lines as much as my more sheer foundations. I have only used this with the Max Factor Smooth Miracle Primer though, so that may have helped in that regard. Its staying power is good - it had hardly come off after 8 hours.
My only criticism is that I did not think it really gave my skin any luminization. The finish was quite matte. I guess I thought I would have a more lit-from-within look with this foundation. However, if you are looking for a full coverage foundation with a matte finish, then this foundation is great. I am very happy to keep using it.
Full house of kisses
I got this from the beauty review vault. I like the bottle and how you see the product inside. It has a pump action top to dispense the foundation.
This foundation, I pump two pumps onto the back of my hand which is more than enough to cover my face. It applies well with a blender and a brush.
I love how it doesn't show off my pores and wrinkles. It sits well on the skin. It's not a matte look and definatly not a oily look. A real middle. Does give the skin a slight glow as well
I'm loving the feel of this foundation. Firstly as with the primer it is in really pretty packaging and love the look of the luminizing swirl through the foundation that you can see through the bottle. It also has a pump which is a big tick for me in the world of foundation!!! Application wise it applies beautifully with a beauty blender for a perfect dewy finish, it gives off a soft glow to my skin which is very reminiscent of my nars sheer glow foundation which i looooove, although the consistency of this foundation is slightly thicker. But i would definitely recommend this as a cheaper alternative to sheer glow!!
I found that this wears really well, and is a light-medium coverage. It isn't cakey or patchy when used over a primer, I have tried it with both my porefessional and the maxfactor miracle smooth primer. Overall, I love the dewy finish that this gives, I feel natural and glowy yet gives me enough coverage for day or glammed up for night. LOVE!!
Tips: I love the finish of this when applied with a beauty blender xx
It was just ok in my eyes. When i put it on my face it has a specific smell that irritated me until the smell wore off about 20 minutes later. I don't know what the smell is but it really didn't sit well with me. It worked great with a beauty blender but i found when using a flat top brush it would really cling onto any dry skin i might have had especially on my nose. Its light to medium, coverage and semi build-able. Definitely had a luminous finish but within a couple of hour it started making my face look greasy more than dewy. It worked well on its own but better with it's sister primer. I'll carry on using it for a every day natural foundation to help cover my redness but definitely not for nighttime wear in my case.
Tips: Works better with a damp beauty blender for a natural finish
