even with using only the lightest pressure these snap off and become unusable on the first use. The only success I have had is to depot the broken bullets into small pots and use like a cream shadow but even then they creased really badly and were really glittery.

The colour comes out too vibrant to be smokey, and smudges too easily so can get messy very quickly. Not good value for money considering you have to mix it with other eye shadows/cremes to get a proper smokey eye
I was lucky enough to be able to test this in Silver Storm (silver and purple). It is def easy to apply and the silver goes on great. However it doesn't create all that much of a smokey eye effect as the purple doesn't show up hugely, I also found I couldn't put it on my lower lash line as it badly clogged my lashes. However I do really like it as a basic cream eye shadow due to the application being so easy and the lack of creasing.
I have been using the Max Factor Smokey Eye Effect in the colours onyx / smoke for the past week. I found this eye shadow easy to apply and blend for the smokey eye effect. The contrasting colours really popped!
Although this tool was really easy to use, I found it didn't really last. Even with a primer, the shadow creased very easily and unfortunately did not last all day.
Tips: I would recommend this eye shadow for beginners as it's really easy to use and gives a dramatic smokey eye.
I tried this a couple of times. I always do a smokey eye look and am far from a a beginner when it comes to make up but this was just not a good product in my opinion.. I watched a few tutorials and when I did I knew this wasn't going to be for me, but alas gave it a go. First time I tried it I tried it applying directly from the 'pen' I had to use a eye primer or there would be barely any colour there.. I looked horrible. I looked like I had been punched in the eye, it wasn't blendable at all and didn't wear very well, any sort of movement made it crease and wear off. Second time I used a brush.. To no avail, I could get the shimmery white colour on but no way could I use the black.. The black is just messy, its more like a sheer glitter rather then a black.. I like the shimmer of the white and it would be great for highlighting the brow bone and inner eye, but that's where its going to stop from me unfortunately. I wouldn't even recommend this for beginners unless they are doing a basic sweep of colour!
Tips: The white colour is great for highlighting the brow bone or inner eye/under the bottom lash line.. But apart from that, I wouldn't recommend. I generally like max factor products but I feel this one leaves a lot to be desired.
The colours are to die for... both the one to contour with and the shimmery overall color. However these colors lack definition and crease very quickly even when I use my favorite chi chi primer. This product is very effective for quick application when you are running out of the door, and is so easy to carry around when travelling. I used the contouring color on my lips the other day... And the look achieved was fabulous. I would only recommend this product for people who are new to eye shadows and contouring and only if you are going out for couple of hours as it will start creasing afterwards.
Tips: Try using the shimmery STEP 1 colour all over your eye for a very open eye fresh look…
Okay, so I didn't look like a pie after using this - but it definitely didn't give me that smokey eye effect. The only thing 'smokey' about this product is probably the shade of the colours. I couldn't get it to blend and it would just 'cake'. *sigh* Maybe I was applying it wrong? Not the product for me - but it could be for you! On a side note, the colours are rather nice though!
On my first try of this product I thought it was absolutely amazing, so easy to apply and the colours were great. After getting used to using the product I noticed it would crease a lot so I do not use the product anymore.
Tips: I think this product is good for smokey eye beginners.
I finally tried this product out, and it happened to be for my ball in September and I was really disappointed by the results. The colour was amazing with intense definition but the product would just crease and it was absolutely horrible. I regret trying out a new product for my ball! :( would not recommend !
I've used the Max Factor Smokey Eye Effect Pen in the gold shades. In my opinion this type of product would be great for those just starting out with eyeshadows and want to try doing more intense looks. Its very easy to apply but does have some tugging on the skin. Does it do what it claims? Yes, you can achieve a fairly easy smokey eye effect. However, it smudges easily, and doesn't lend well to other looks. It also has a lot of fallout, which pressed on with a brush powder eyeshadows usually avoid.
Tips: Start with a wet or dewy primer to provide a surface with a wee bit more adhering qualities.
