I have been experimenting with primers recently. My skin is quite strange at the moment, usually it's standard oily, but I have been feeling quite dried out recently with an oily T zone.
I bought this primer online before it came out here and was excited to try it. I've been a Maybelline girl since I started using make up. But this product let me down.
The packaging is ok, it's small for the price compared to say ELF that I find works well. It comes out easily and rubs onto the skin well. But that's where the plusses stop for me.
It felt like a slimey layer sitting on top of my skin, it didn't settle like other primers do. It didn't fill my pores, it just gooped over them. I wiped some away and attempted to put my make up on over top. It did go on okay, but very quickly my skin just looked like an oil slick and my make up started to slide. I ended up having to take my make up off and start again. I tried a couple of different times, with lighter applications, but it was always the same.
This might work better for someone without oily skin, but since my experience I have read a few people say that it's not for those with oily skin.
Because of the many rave reviews floating around online, I was really looking forward to trying this. Although my pores are generally not an issue I do have slightly enlarged pores between my brows and on my forehead.
The packaging for this gets 10/10. As well as being immediately eye catching in store, it is a pretty looking tube that looks adorable on your vanity. More importantly the tube is super easy to use and has a small nozzle at the end so you don't accidentally squirt too much product out.
The primer itself is a clear gel product that blends into the skin easily. It doesn't leave any kind of colour and has no noticeable scent. In terms of filling in your pores and making your skin appear like baby skin... It doesn't do that at all. At least not for me.
In fact, I didn't feel that this really did anything to my skin except leave it feeling like it had a thin layer of silicone on it. I have used other pore filling primers that are silicone based and don't mind the feeling of silicone on my skin - if the primer does what it claims to do. This however fell extremely flat for me. In fact I definitely prefer ELF's pore filling primer to this and think that is a much better purchase than this. It could just be my skin but this really didn't do anything to make my skin appear softer or smoother and it didn't fill my pores in.
I wouldn't repurchase this and don't even want to finish the tube - it will be gifted to a friend who wants to try it.
