Primer is one of those things that we all need but can't bring ourselves to spend that much money on as say a lipstick or an eyeshadow palette because you don't actually see it once it's on. However it is definitely a worthwhile investment as it's essential for keeping your makeup on longer and making it stay where you put it. Because of this I believe that this Maybelline primer is one of the best options out there. Although it doesn't 100% erase your pores like it claims to (cause let's face it, that's impossible) it does give your skin a smooth base to apply your foundation onto. I've used it with a variety of different foundations and it's worked well with all of them. This product is a staple in my makeup bag, and as it's so cheap I believe it will be for months to come.

Tips: Try not too use too much as this product works best with a thin-medium level of coverage. If you use too much your foundation will look cakey.
It's not bad for the price but it's not amazing. It works best under liquid foundation and helps glide on foundation amazing but alone it's sticky and doesn't really hide visible pores but it does help with fine lines. I recommend it for someone that wants something basic for not a lot of $$$
This gives a siliconey silken feel to the skin when applied (Like Garnier perfect blur), so applying makeup on top it will make the foundation/concealer move around and not last very long. On the other hand it hides pores and has a blur effect on the skin. So it kind of makes the skin looks better by itself. I also think it is kind of hard to remove and even though they say it is non-comedogenic, I find myself getting small breakouts after using this. I will not be buying this again as the one I have is not even finished halfway and I had it for a ..while.
I got this primer in the US since it wasn't out in NZ yet. It is a silicone finish but it applies so smoothly on the skin. I don't think it really smoothes pores away compared to my other primers but it's a good inexpensive primer out there. I feel like this doesn't help in making my makeup last longer though and eventually it's easier for makeup so slide off my face. Overall, it's an okay product. It's not horrible but it wasn't fantastic.
This primer wasn't bad but it definitely wasn't my favourite either. It did blur my pores as it says it does but it feels like silicone. I have quite dry skin so it definitely helped my foundation not cling to dry patches but I found it wore off around my nose towards the end of the day. The packaging is very basic but thats what you would expect with its reasonably low price but i felt the product didn't want to come out so i'd have to squeeze it more only for heaps to come out! :/
Tips: I think this primer would be good for someone just starting out in make up, or maybe as a cheap alternative to have around when you don't want to waste a more expensive primer on a day when you're not doing too much.
Really siliconey, I use it occasionally if I'm doing a heavier base with a blending sponge as I found brushes made it shift with the makeup. Feels nice and soft though and makeup in oilier areas seemed to stay put better while wearing it.
Tips: Apply other makeup with a sponge
I saw this Baby Skin formula spreading like wild fire all over the social media channels but at the time it was an exclusive item for USA so that moment when I spotted in at my local chemist whilst waiting for prescription to be filled was probably a little too excited for a chemist full of people to see, and it was the last one too so I was double excited. It is now more readably accessible in NZ now and I have spotted it at Farmers.
Design wise this cute little bottle comes in my favourite colour of the moment shade of blue/green (tiffany blue??) in quite a generous sized tube for a primer I think especially as it is only around $20 I feel this is a very affordable primer that having used for over 3 weeks now and not anywhere near the halfway point will last you a long while to use up.
The silicon feeling gel that is transparent absorbs quickly into your skin and a little goes a long way with a small dollop managing to cover my entire face, which is awesome as I have quite a fat round face for it to absorb into. Leaving my skin feeling soft and velvet to the touch and looking like a matte veil had been applied to it. It gives the perfect base for makeup which protected my oily t zone areas from shiny through my foundation all day.
I have also worn this alone with just a moisturiser underneath for those days where you want to look healthy and put together but can't be bothered with the hassle of a full on makeup look. I hope I never find myself hunting this primer down and I am rather tempted to go buy a back up while I know it is in stock locally as it is out of all the primers I currently have the best for what I want it to do.
I love this primer! For a drugstore primer it works amazing on the skin. It is a siliconey type consistency but apply's really easily to the skin. It is soft and makes your skin feel velvety. I don't have any major issues with pores on my face but I did find it was the perfect base for foundation as it smoothed out my skin and made it a lot easier to buff in my foundation. This product is quite pricey in NZ supermarkets so I definitely recommend ordering it online.
I am fairly new to primers, I have used a couple of the Elf ones, and was going to spend the $ of benefits professional when I discovered that this product is being toted as the dupe for benefit. So I went out and bought it.
As far as making my pores disappear, Im not completely sold, there is definitely a slight difference, but its no miracle worker there. HOWEVER, when it comes to keeping my makeup in place all day/night long, it definitely does the trick.
If I was to ignore the claims about making my pores disappear, then it would be a holy grail product for me, although to be honest, it is definitely the best primer I have had so far, and I used it on some friends when I did their makeup the other day, and it made them look and feel great as well.
The consistency is like a gel, but different. Easy to spread out, especially over those problem areas. There is no real smell, and the packaging is very very similar to the porefessional.
I guess I wish there was more product in the wee tube, so it lasted longer, but you generally don't need much anyway.
all in all, I do love this product and I will be purchasing again
Tips: wash your face about half an hour before putting on the primer and then the makeup, it will help to keep everything in place even longer :)
My skin type is oily and acne prone and I found that this product was absolutely horrible for my oily skin. I have very large pores around my nose area but at the same time that is where the most oil is produced. This is definitely a no go during summer for me and I'll have to find another pore filler product to use. However I do find that this product does diminish the look of pores as my foundation and concealer applies much more smoothly when I use this. I would not recommend for people with oily skin unless it's during winter time when your skin can get a little dry
Tips: Massage with warm finger tips so that the product actually fills the pores
