I love a brow pencil that is retractable, because who has time to sharpen, amiright? Also, I find retractable brow pencils tend to be thin, precise and easy to work with. This pencil fills in the brows quite nicely! It glides on easily, has a lovely colour payoff and doesn't scratch. I bought this because NYX had just discontinued their micro brow pencil in NZ (stink) so I'm on a hunt to find an affordable alternative. The only reason I probably wouldn't repurchase this one from Maybelline is due to the sponge end that dispenses powder; I found this to be a little clunky. I would much prefer a spooly to comb through the brows and distribute the product if needed.

Tips: Use a light hand, create small feathery strokes as you go with the pencil and be gentle with the powder sponge (should you choose to use it) - it can take your brow to a solid block of colour pretty easily.
Neat idea and not messy compared to brow powders ive used. This is a duo pencil with a pencil one end and powder Powder the other. I chose the blonde shade which works well for me providing i dont over do it! I looked up the reviews on here before purchasing which were good. I use the powder end to faintly draw my brows, as they have virtually disappeared lol, then i go over with the pencil to draw the shape which works for me. Need to be careful not to overload as im fair skinned. Make sure you wind pencil up before putting on lid to avoid breakage. I was finding the product difficult to apply if i got my moisturiser on my eyebrows, but solution was to use my Benefit browvo conditioning eyebrow primer before applying and it applies no problem. Its a great colour for me only thing is the product easily comes off as i wear glasses/sunglasses sometimes which is so frustrating. Yet to find a product that can stay on eventhough these companies claim they do. Apart from this its a great product and best one i have used so far!
Tips: Dont get moisturiser on eyebrow otherwise it wont apply very well
When I'm in a rush this is the first product I reach for. The cushion applicator makes it so easy to just sweep products across my brows. I have sparse parts in my brows and this product fills them in super quickly and it looks good.
Tips: Tidy up the edges by just wiping your finger along the edge of your eyebrow.
I chose the shade medium brown, the retractable pencil is a little thin but does the job if you take a bit longer to apply. The cushion applicator on the other end is handy for blending any excess product. I would highly reccomend this brow pencil, and its reasonably priced as well.
This is a brow product I stumbled across in farmers one day years ago that I grabbed to try out. I’ve since repurchased many times and use it often. It’s always sharp thanks to being a retractable liner and the other smudged end has a little powder product that effortlessly smudges it out. It’s super quick and I always get great results no matter the look I’m trying to achieve. Now don’t get me wrong I do still love my ABH pomade but that takes time and concentration I don’t have since having 2 more kids. This just works and it’s affordable and I often stumble upon multi deals etc. Will continue to repurchase and hope like heck they don’t discontinue it!
Tips: The lid to the retractable end often comes loose so keep an eye on it haha
When I saw this on TV, I got pretty excited because I am a sucker for products that are a two-step process, I don't know why but they just really appeal to me.
I have the darkest shade this comes in, and the packaging is really sleek and simple. It comes in a plastic casing, with a dark lid on each side so you can't tell which end is which is a bit of a pain. But what really bugs me with this product is the fact that one lid twists off and one lid pops off so I’ll be yanking at my lid, and it does nothing because it’s the screw off one. I find it so confusing. I wish they were the same (in regards to twisting/popping off) but I assume they are different to distinguish which end is which but I don't think it does that well.
One end has a pencil which I really like. The size is something I'm used to working with so I found it easy to create the look I wanted with small strokes as well as more defined lines.
The other end has a white sponge tip and you simply push down on the tip to release the powder. I found I had to push down a few times for the powder to start coming out but that was only the first time. I do find the click-type dispenser a bit gimmicky, but I don't know how else they could design it. I think this end is a good idea because it smooths out harsh lines and fills in other gaps which are perfect.
Overall, I really like this product and it is my favourite brow product from Maybelline. It gives my brows a filled out look, and can be quite natural depending on how you blend and fill your brows out.
I was super exited to be asked to trial this. It is literally an eyebrow kit in pencil form. On one end is a wind up gel pencil to outline your brows and the other end is a fill in powder. This seems like perfection has finally been invented for people on the run. The eyebrow kits I have used take time and preciseness. This cuts all that in half and make it far less effortless.
There is a clear lid on the gel pencil end and a brown screw top lid at the powder end. This keeps them protected from breaking or gathering dust and dirt. I chose the darkest brown that was available because it allows me to achieve the bold brows I like.
The gel pencil is very thin which allows me to get a sharp and precise line. It winds up which means that I don't have to continuously sharpen. That's a big tick already. The pencil is quite waxy feeling but it means that I only have to press lightly to get a good line. The powder is a whole other level. It's like a pump action applicator with a sponge smudger tip. You press in and out the applicator to allow the powder to come to the surface. This is where it got tricky for me and resulted in the three stars. It's very hard to apply and to get even. It doesn't look very natural nor bold. It looks just like powder in my sparse brows. It was very awkward to keep the powder at the tip constantly with having to pump it up and down. It wasn't easy to apply that side at all.
Once I got my brows to the place I wanted them I gave them a run for its money. I wore my brows done in this to town for the day and found that on a gusty day, if I don't put a staying powder on the powder blows out leaving me with a line and faint fill in. Lucky for me I took it with me to reapply should the need arise.
Verdict: I love the idea of this pencil and the gel pencil. The only thing I don't like is the powder applicator and the fact that it doesn't stay put in wind, even with a setting powder. I would buy it just to use the pencil if not anything else. Worth the money? For the pencil on it's own definitely! I love this to line my brows with.
Tips: Use light strokes and build up. It's very intense colouring and can look overdone if used too heavy handed.
I had really high hopes for this product but I found that the pigmentation and colour pay off just wasn't there. I found that I had to press quite hard to get the product to show up in my eyebrows and then once I added the powder I found that it made my eyebrows look quite intense and very dense looking. The only area of my brows where I felt like it worked was on my tails to make them even but that was about it. I probably won't use this product again just due to the fact it didn't achieve my desired brow style as easily as other products I already own.
I had been really looking forward to trying out the Maybelline Brow Satin in Medium Brown after searching for a good brow product for months. Unfortunately I was very disappointed by this product - it just didn't work well for my brows at all!
The idea is a good one - a double-ended product with a very thin pencil at one end and a powder applied using small sponge at the other. Unfortunately, I found the pencil far too thin and hard to create natural-looking brows easily, and I found the powder very difficult to disperse using the sponge at the other end. The overall looks I was left with after trying this product were always harsh, artificial, and unnatural looking! The colours was perfect for my skin tone and hair colour - but I found it was just far too difficult to achieve the look I wanted.
My search for the perfect brow product continues!
Having used this up a few months ago, I figured I should get around to writing a review. I brought this as maybelline usually have quite decent brow products for the price. I quite liked this "Brow Satin" product, the product itself was nice to use and was a great size to give a natural - yet flawless brow, was easy to build up, without overdoing it. I found you didn't get much product and it was a nice colour match. I can't say I used what was meant to be the big sale feature and point of difference with this product - the sponge tip at the end. It is a solid sponge that smudges your eyebrow product in. It would help make my brows look fuller, but easily made my brows look to thick and ridiculous. Wouldn't purchase this again, but happy to have tried it.
