Maybelline Brow Tattoo Gel Tint Review

I’m not a suitable candidate for microblading and this product is the next best thing for me. I’ve been using it for 4 months and I absolutely love it. My sister bought me the Dark Brown shade from Australia for $AUD25 which I thought was utterly ridiculous for 5ml but aside from a few clumps of product here and there it’s still going strong.

What I love about this product is that I have 3-4 days of freedom from filling my brows and that my brows actually look good! Of course they look nothing like microbladed brows but they look natural, nicely shaped and is a fraction of the cost of the treatment.

When I first used the product I used a brown eyeliner to lightly outline the shape of my brows. The colour of the product looks black and in certain lighting you can see the brown but just be mindful it does come off as more of a darker brown/black which is perfect for me.

The consistency reminds me of semi-thick PVA glue and just like the glue it’s easy to wipe off if you make a mistake. Don't allow it to sit too long or you’ll end up with the tint in an area you don’t want. The applicator is a small synthetic brush which is saturated with product so ensure to wipe off the excess.

When applying the product for the first couple of times it felt awkward not using an angled brush to shape my brows but follow the natural way your brows grow so that the brush is not going against them. Ideally you want to be “glueing” (while shaping) your brows down.

I start applying the product in the centre (mainly out of habit) because I want most of the pigment in that area before moving to the other areas. You need to have enough product on your brows so that you can ideally peel it off in one go. I then wait for 15-20 minutes and then peel the product off starting from the end of my brows and c’est voilà beautifully shaped brows for the next 3 days.

The tint is darkest on Day 1 and each time you wash your face you'll notice the pigment lift. My brows fade evenly so it's not like anyone is going to notice that you have brows one day and the next they're gone. By the 4th or 5th day I can either fill my brows in or reapply the product.

If I’m not happy with my attempt then I can always fill it in with powder until it fades but I’ve only had to do that once over the 4 months. I no longer need to outline my brows and it takes me less than 2 minutes to apply. I would highly recommend this product for those who enjoy having some freedom from filling in their brows for a few days.

I have black hair and a cool toned complexion, so I chose to receive the shade "grey brown". When I first went to try this product, I was worried that the brush would be too thick and I wouldn't get a precise line. I even kept a thin eyebrow brush next to me in case I needed something thinner to apply the product, but I never needed it! I could do the ends of my brows easily without making them too thick.

I wasn't sure exactly how much product to apply at first, so I coated my brows in as much product as possible and hoped for the best! In hindsight this could have ended very badly (but luckily it didn't). The consistency of this product is quite thick, but it's still easy to work with. There's no noticeable scent. Definitely don't make plans to leave the house while it's on because you look a bit ridiculous while it's drying!

The packet suggests leaving it on for 20 mins to 3 hours. I trialled a few different times. I found that it lasted longer and looked better when left on for at least two hours. Though I am a fan of bolder brows, so keep this in mind if you try it for yourself.

So after waiting for a couple of hours, it's time to remove the product. The packet says to start removing from the tail of the brow, which I agree is the best way. Generally I can get it all off in one go with no problems, but if some product remains use a spoolie brush to comb it out. It is way easier to remove than I imagined it would be which is great!

I found the tint lasted well for two days. By day three it was still visible, but it had faded quite a bit. I like to reapply the product every two to three days to keep my brows looking nice.

This product is such a time saver! I used to spend ages doing my brows in the morning, but now all I do is sweep some tinted gel through them so they stay in place. I've always wanted to get my brows microbladed, but that's not feasible on a student budget. This product gives you the microbladed look, while also being budget friendly. I was skeptical at first, but I'd absolutely repurchase this again.

I love this product. I've got dark hair and eyebrows but after many years of plucking my eyebrows I've got bald patches. So to even out my eyebrow colour and give them a fatter style this is my go to product. I use it every 3 days. I apply it at night and leave it on for about an hour, longer then what it says but I find if I leave it on longer then it lasts up to 4 days. I'm sure it would last a week if I didn't use waterproof eye makeup remover every day. Once I've put it on I then pluck any hair that is outside the style shape. It has no smell and before it dries it is easy to remove if you've got it somewhere you shouldn't. I've been using the same tube for the last 7 weeks and it's still got plenty in it. The brush applicator is like a nail polish brush so it's very easy to apply and get the style you want.

I was lucky to be selected for this product. I had heard a lot about this product, so was interested to give it a try.

First impressions is that I liked the container, black with a brown/gold metallic lid. It comes with a brush like tip. To be honest, I was not really sure how this would turn out, wondering if it would be too dark as i chose the darkest colour! The instructions said to apply the gel to my natural eye brow shape and leave on for a minimum of 20 mins. The finally peel off.

I found this really easy to apply to the shape of my eyebrow. It looked really dark, but apparently it would be lighter once I peeled it off. I was really surprised how easy this was to take off, I think this is due to the Royal Jelly and Aloe Vera ingredients. And it did not pull out any of my hairs! I was a little disappointed that my brows weren't as dark as I would have liked, but I think next time I will leave it on for longer. It looked natural, but not defined.

Over a few days, the tint began to fade. And I did the same process, but left it on for 30mins this time. That made a differce and my brows seemed darker, and the tint lasted a little longer.

I did this on my friends and they liked it, I think it is good for a temporary tint and natural look and I still filled my eyebrows with powder. To define them a bit more :)

Yessss I love this product!

when it is described as a game changer I totally agree. I have relatively full brows but I still like to fill them in every day. When I used this product I didn't fill them in, I only used a clear brow gel and they looked so good!

This tint is super easy to use, it comes with a little brush on applicator which I think is super easy to use, you need to put on a decent amount to be able to peel it off properly. I wasn't that good at drawing it on completely my eyebrows but that doesn't matter it doesn't seem to stain the skin around the brows so it is all good! You just leave it on your brows for 20 mins and then peel it off and you are good to go!

This tint left my brows looking really really good. I think for me it probably lasted about 2 days but I wash my face twice a day and so I think if you made an effort to wash around the brows or less then it would definitely last longer.

I don't usually get my brows professionally tinted so I can't compare to that but I don't know why you would with this product now, I feel like this product will give you the same result as a professional tint and you can do it at home whenever you want.

This product didn't have a strong smell or anything, I barely even noticed it was on my brows while it was developing so I am super happy with the way you use it.

This product was so easy to use, the colour was good!! (I had dark brown) I actually don't know if there is anything wrong with it or anything I would want to change to be honest.

If you are someone who gets their brows tinted all the time then I think definitely give this a go it might save you some money and time!!

I often ignore my brows. One of my biggest fears is making them look ridiculous instead of bold, so I often shy away from using a product in them, instead just brushing them out. But I have gaps and it can look quite underdone, so I decided to take the plunge with this product.

I love the packaging - it is very sleek (like a lot of the recent offerings from Maybelline, it feels like the brand is growing up). I must admit I was very intimidated before trying the product - I even made my friend try it first (she did offer!). However I’m very glad I took the plunge, as it was definitely not ‘too much’ (I was quite worried the end result would turn out something like how it looks before you actually peel of the formula, which quite frankly would be a disaster). In fact, I got the darkest colour as I have dark brown brows, and it wasn’t too much at all. I left it on for an hour as my friend tried for 30 minutes and didn’t find it dramatic enough. We also reapplied after one day - it didn’t last for 3 days. After applying it did itch slightly, however it is easy to apply, which means the application process is pretty pain free. For me, it didn’t come off in a nice few pieces which I was hoping for, rather in little bits so that was a bit tedious. I was left with brows looking more dark and fuller than how I started, so I was happy with that.

So it didn’t live up to its claim of long lasting results. However, I think I like the product enough for what it is without that feature - I prefer having to touch it up rather than having harsh long lasting brows. If you’re looking for something that does have more of a ‘wow’ factor this is probably not the product for you. However, if you want a product that will naturally amp up your look and are willing to put up with the application time, it will be a better fit. A product that does both (looks ‘natural’ while maintaining a tint over a few days) would be great, but I am a lot happier with this product than I expected, and I’m glad I put my hand up to trial it. I finally have a brow product that is going to get regular use!

I get my eyebrows tinted. Something I'd rather not do but my brows are so thin and non-existent I have to! When I read about this product - it sounded like a replacement for my salon tint - and time saver and great for the budget

The gel comes in a tube similar to a mascara container, just smaller. Colour for me was Light brown. Reading the instructions, they've kept to 3 steps and simple. Brush it on, let it dry, and peel off after at least 20minutes.

The product goes on in a similar consistency to PVA glue. It goes on easily and smoothly. I painted the whole brow until hairs were well covered and sitting flat. The thinner outer edge of the brow was harder to paint to a thinner line, but I used a cotton bud to clean up the edges, plucked a couple of stray hairs around the edges once I liked the application, and the brows looked great! Waiting for it to dry I barely noticed the product on, and it didn't feel like it was tightening as it dried, which I liked. It dries to a touch quite quickly too.

I left the gel on for about 40 minutes. When it came to remove - it came off surprisingly easy, I picked up an edge of the gel with my fingernail and then pulled the gel off, which came off in mostly one long piece, to reveal a perfectly shaped and filled in brow. Very little product was left behind, and again a finger nail can remove any little strands left behind.

My brows looked really good. I was impressed. My eyebrows looked a little darker, the gaps filled with colour and they looked even! I don't have thick eyebrows, so you could definitely see the product between the brows - but no different than using another brow product to fill the gaps, or straight after a salon brow tint. The next morning - I checked the mirror and they were as I left them, perfectly formed and filled. They didn't appear to have really faded (I hadn't washed my face since application).

That morning after washing my face I did notice a little fade. I hadn't taken great care to avoid the brows with my face wash. Despite the fade they looked filled still. The more noticeable aspect of the fading was that with the light brown, it was fading off to a slight auburn/orange tint on me, which I toned down a little with my bb cream over my brows. The next day I took more care with washing my face, but again the fading was continuing, and I knew I'd be needing to do the tint again the next day. In my experience the product lasted 2 days well, and 3rd day I was wanting to re-do it. The fade shade I wasn't totally fond of, but I could fix that I imagine by choosing a different shade - maybe medium brown or grey.

The fading aside - I love the product, and it's probably enough to give up the salon tinting to do it at home instead. I get a nice tidy brow each day without fumbling with pencil and other products. I can do it at night and have lovely brows ready in the morning! I really like it and will continue use.

I am fairly impressed with this product but not sure if I am completely won over; so will review as follows. I really like the plain and simple packaging; minimalistic but smart. The box has step by step instructions on it, showing you how to apply and remove. The wand pulls out easily and you've got quite a thick brush on which the brow gel clings too, so you can brush it on. Putting the gel on will take a bit of practice. i found it easy enough but will have to practice how to get it precisely on my brows and not on my skin, as I found, it does dye your skin as well. After the 20 mins I removed the gel. I'm not sure if I didn't put enough on as it didn't pull off as shown on the picture on the box, but it came off easily when I scrapped it off with my nail, and left nothing behind. You can definitely see colour on my brows and it's lasted well, throughout make up removal and showers. I think I would buy again for trips so I didn't have to worry about applying so much makeup everyday. Definitely an easy product to use.

I was a bit dubious when I first received this product, because of past experiences with brow products in general. I have Light brown eyebrows that also have blonde mixed in along with blonde hair so I've found that the lightest colours in a lot of brow products look way too dark for me and not in the least natural (which is something that is important for me). I got the light brown colour which I was worried would be too dark so when I applied this, I only put just enough on to make sure I didn't end up with slug brows. This meant it didn't exactly peel off like the instructions suggest, but I put that down to me not layering it on. I ended up with the PERFECT coloured brows! the blondes blended in seamlessly with the light brown hairs and they look so natural! This product is uber easy to use and produces a really nice result - my brows looked tidy for a few days afterwards which is such a win because it's a low maintenance and affordable product but it gives off a high end finish. All in all I will definitely keep using this regularly, it's so nice waking up with good brows.

I have such sparse brows that I fill my brows in everyday. With early starts at work, I wanted something that would last the work week without me needing to maintain it much.

This is just the product.

I bought the shade Grey Brown which works well for my black hairs. It is a thick gel that you apply to your brows and leave it on for 20 - 2 hours. I have always left it on for 2 hours or more because I want a darker tint.

I peel it off from the tail of the brow and it just comes off in one piece without pulling out any hairs! The first time I used it, I exercised and it didn't last through sweat and showering, but after that I've just avoided the brow area when washing and it manages to last 3 days without touch up, and 5 days with minimal touch up in the last 2 days. It's fabulous and has made my mornings so much quicker!

I highly recommend!
