Maybelline Brow Tattoo Gel Tint Review

I’m not a suitable candidate for microblading and this product is the next best thing for me. I’ve been using it for 4 months and I absolutely love it. My sister bought me the Dark Brown shade from Australia for $AUD25 which I thought was utterly ridiculous for 5ml but aside from a few clumps of product here and there it’s still going strong.

What I love about this product is that I have 3-4 days of freedom from filling my brows and that my brows actually look good! Of course they look nothing like microbladed brows but they look natural, nicely shaped and is a fraction of the cost of the treatment.

When I first used the product I used a brown eyeliner to lightly outline the shape of my brows. The colour of the product looks black and in certain lighting you can see the brown but just be mindful it does come off as more of a darker brown/black which is perfect for me.

The consistency reminds me of semi-thick PVA glue and just like the glue it’s easy to wipe off if you make a mistake. Don't allow it to sit too long or you’ll end up with the tint in an area you don’t want. The applicator is a small synthetic brush which is saturated with product so ensure to wipe off the excess.

When applying the product for the first couple of times it felt awkward not using an angled brush to shape my brows but follow the natural way your brows grow so that the brush is not going against them. Ideally you want to be “glueing” (while shaping) your brows down.

I start applying the product in the centre (mainly out of habit) because I want most of the pigment in that area before moving to the other areas. You need to have enough product on your brows so that you can ideally peel it off in one go. I then wait for 15-20 minutes and then peel the product off starting from the end of my brows and c’est voilà beautifully shaped brows for the next 3 days.

The tint is darkest on Day 1 and each time you wash your face you'll notice the pigment lift. My brows fade evenly so it's not like anyone is going to notice that you have brows one day and the next they're gone. By the 4th or 5th day I can either fill my brows in or reapply the product.

If I’m not happy with my attempt then I can always fill it in with powder until it fades but I’ve only had to do that once over the 4 months. I no longer need to outline my brows and it takes me less than 2 minutes to apply. I would highly recommend this product for those who enjoy having some freedom from filling in their brows for a few days.

This product is so good!

I was so concerned when I first got it that it would be easy to mess up and would come out a dark and unnatural colour.

That was so wrong!

I have used his so many times now, not once have I had any issues with the tint looking messy or bleeding into areas I don’t want it to.

You can keep it on between 20 min and 2 hours however I find 20 min is still enough to last for days still looking great.

My only criticism is that they don’t have a varied colour range, I think there’s only 4 colours to choose from.

I love this product. I've got dark hair and eyebrows but after many years of plucking my eyebrows I've got bald patches. So to even out my eyebrow colour and give them a fatter style this is my go to product. I use it every 3 days. I apply it at night and leave it on for about an hour, longer then what it says but I find if I leave it on longer then it lasts up to 4 days. I'm sure it would last a week if I didn't use waterproof eye makeup remover every day. Once I've put it on I then pluck any hair that is outside the style shape. It has no smell and before it dries it is easy to remove if you've got it somewhere you shouldn't. I've been using the same tube for the last 7 weeks and it's still got plenty in it. The brush applicator is like a nail polish brush so it's very easy to apply and get the style you want.

This was my first home brow tinting product and I was so pleasantly surprised! I mean, when I first put it on I got a shock, I looked as though two caterpillars had died and rotted on my face. But I bravely stuck it out for the 20 minutes recommended and then got to peeling it off.

Basically it's a thick tinted gel that goes on with a brush. I, being a novice and scared, had only applied it thinly, so I found it quite tricky to get off - it didn't peel in one glamorous piece like the picture on the box. I ended up picking bits out and then brushing the rest out with a brow brush. (It doesn't stick to the brow hairs which is a bonus.)

But once it was all gone - wow! I get my brows tinted professionally when I can afford it, and honestly, I couldn't see any difference in the effect at all. It looked amazing and natural and it lasted for four days without any fading.

I have dark brows, and the colour I had was grey/brown, which was perfect. It was really easy and a definite must-have in my make-up collection from now on.

This product was interesting. Interesting concept and interesting results.

Don't get me wrong the comcept is great, especially for those pinched for time You could apply and peel Sunday night, and theoretically have perfect brows until Wednesday. Theoretically...

The application was a little nerve wrecking. It is a thick viscose liquid applied with a brush tip applicator. I found I had to have very steady hands and courage when applying it, one slip and the consequences could have been a monobrow. The brush filament was, in my opinion, a little too long and much to soft. Any pressure applied just splays the filament, thick with goo threatening to go over the edges of the perfect brow lines and into More of a large set of caterpillars. If anyone has had trouble with liquid eyeliner, and thickens it to hide the mistake should beware the same could very easily happen here.

The waiting for the application to dry was scary, I looked in the mirror at my jet black painted on brows and felt a tinge of nervousness, hoping my brow result would be more natural and less scouser. Especially if it were to last 3 days... might have to call in sick for work. After 20 minutes the solution had dried to a gum consistency and easily peeled off without tugging, or ripping on the hair which is a huge plus from me and the result was fantastic. One brow was slightly darker than the other, but very natural looking and the result gave the appearance of being expertly manicured. I went to bed and joked that I might wake up with brows on my pillow.. you'll be glad to know they stayed perfectly in place on my face, which was just as well as I was running late for work so I didn't have time to throw my face together. At work I had a bunch of compliments from coworkers and they didn't even realise my face was naked under those perfect face frames. That arvo the brows started to 'let go' rubbing off slightly and by the next day after a shower they were gone completely. So the result lasted overnight and most of the next day for me.

I would recommend this product as much as I would recommend just filling in with eyeshadow or a soft hue pencil. At least if a mistake is made with the latter options you can fix it. But for lazy make up routines this is a good product to have.... Especially if you have the steady hands of a surgeon and patience of a saint.

It comes in a small tube with applicator brush as I mentioned above. I'm skeptical as to how many applications are in the tube. I will keep using it until I use it up and reassess my thoughts on it at a later date. For now my opinion is reserved on if it's winner or sinner.

When I was invited to trial this brow tint I was so excited as my brows are not perfect, I like to fill them in everyday so I thought this would save loads of time, I used the colour Grey brown and it was such a nice colour for my brows, I left the tint on for 20 mins but you can even leave on for longer, I swatched on my hand and after about a minute there was already tint on my hand so this product works fast! The actual product comes with an easy to use applicator which helps to create a good line when filling in the brows, The product is a sticky consistency which is a little hard to work with but nothing to stop me from repurchasing this time-saving product! The instructions are also very easy to follow, there are only 3 steps and they have pictures on the box to follow. The only thing was that it was a little hard to peel off and some of my eyebrow hairs came off, but I loveeee the end result and will definitely use again

I was SO excited to try this tattoo gel tint and tested it out as soon as it arrived in the mail. I got the light brown as this is the shade of my natural hair which is coloured a dark/ medium blonde. This really is a fantastic product if you are after maintenance free eyebrows for a few days!

To apply it you simply paint over your eyebrows, simple! Although this is easy to apply it was very nerve-wracking, after all, if I stuffed this up I would have odd looking eyebrows for the next few days. The consistency of the gel made it easy to apply without any danger of it running or dripping. Once I was happy that my brows were even I started worrying that they were looking very dark, all I could think about was that it was lucky it was summer so I could wear my sunglasses at kindy drop off!

I left it on for the minimum recommended time of 20 minutes before peeling off. This part was also a bit nerve-wracking as I had visions of it pulling out the hairs but thankfully that wasn't the case. It came off simply and was left with eyebrows that looked like I had bothered to do them without them being as intense as I had initially feared.

The application lasted for three days and gradually faded over this time. I have some gaps in my eyebrows, I guess from age, and this product filled them perfectly. It gave my eyebrows a well-groomed look which I loved, perfect for both days where I was wearing makeup and not.

The packaging is simple but nice and has three step-by-step photos on it, perfect for a nervous first timer like me. The tube seems on the small side so it will be interesting to see how long it lasts for. Overall I love this product. For anyone who is busy you need this in your life. It takes some time to apply but you are left with perfect looking brows for the next few days! I, however, would be hesitant to use this on very fair brows unless they release a lighter shade otherwise this was a fantastic product.

I was super excited for this product as it’s something that would make life so much easier if it worked! And it definitely did. I could not be happier with the results.

The shade I received was grey brown and it was the perfect shade for me. I have black hair on pretty fair/normal skin so anything too dark and black would look too striking so i was really happy that this wasn't too intense but just enough. I'd definitely recommend this shade for people who have more dark grey hairs that aren't black enough.

The applicator is super easy to apply and if you need more precision just use an angle eyeliner brush but I feel like the applicator it comes with is fine. I was a bit skeptical at first because it seemed kinda flimsy and I think if you have quite thin brows the applicator it comes with wouldn't work for you.

The pigment is a bit intense at first and I thought it would be streaky but the results were so good. I did think it was a bit too intense so all I did was just go in with a cotton bud and just smudge it a bit to tone it down. After washing my makeup off for the first day I did notice a tint left over but wasn't what it was like on the example as I definitely did not have as much product left. It was more of a hint of product rather than gradually toning down. There are days where I don't wear makeup and I think this is a great product for someone that prefers natural everyday makeup as it still looks like they're sort of filled in

Absolutely no complaints about this product at all and will save me time in the morning as I now won’t have to do full brows everyday. I also only left it on for 30 minutes and found that the results were good. Not entirely sure if the period of time you leave it on will affect the result or not.

Overall I enjoyed the product and it's something I'd use a weekly basis for sure!

I’m in love with the formula of this product,

I carve out my brows with super light concealer before I apply this so I can make sure both my brows match then fill it in with the gel, the colour light brown was a perfect match for my brows with no auburn cast.

I love that it dries and can peel it off, no need for water or messing up the rest of my face. It peels off easily and leaves behind a soft natural tint which I find lasts a good few days (yusss)

My biggest peeve is the brush applicator it’s self, I find it a bit clunky and hard to get a super sharp line on my brows, (esp the tail area) but I just apply and wipe away any excess with a q tip which works fine but would love to see it maybe come with another brush for precise application. Overall I love that this makes my life easier.

This has also given my mum some new brows, I applied this on her brows and it has been amazing as she hasn’t had brows for the last 20 years from over plucking. She is thrilled with the results, It’s a game changer for so many people.

Imagine you're a pale lady with very cool toned skin, searching high and low for a greyish brow product. Imagine the excitement of hearing that there's a grey based tint that lasts for days. Imagine having all your hopes shattered to pieces 5 hours after trying it out. Yup that's me.

Firstly the packaging: it's a small, mascara sized tube with a screw on lid. The brush is relatively short, like a nail polish brush. Problem no.1 arises- How am I supposed to draw my eyebrows with a sharp finish using this clumsy wide brush??? In the end I made a 'stencil' by sticking cellotape around my eyebrows in the shape I wanted. It was sticky to apply, and in order for it to last long I did a very thick coat. It didn't shift or drip while drying, and I happily went about my business for 2 hours with comically bold eyebrows.

It was easy to peel off going from the centre towards the outside, and didn't hurt at all. I was really excited to see that the tint was even and dark brown, the perfect shade! But as I wore this throughout the day, the heat made my face start to get oily and the tinted brows became very shiny. Like I had just put oil on my skin kind of shiny. I end up putting dark eyeshadow over it to try matte it out.

I'll admit I really liked the shade when I first peeled it. But alas, that night as soon as I washed my face it faded... to warm brown! I was shocked when I looked in the mirror at my very brown, light colored brows. I have black hair, so the orangy brown tinge looked ridiculous on me. What's worse, I had to suffer through crazy eyebrows for another 4 days! This does indeed last long, but from day two onwards the colour is completely different. I wouldn't mind if I had brown hair, but I ended up having to draw over the tint with my normal charcoal shade brow pencil every day till it faded completely.

I can see the attraction if you've naturally light brows, and it is very satisfying to use. But my oh my was I wrong when I thought this was grey brown!
