Maybelline Brow Tattoo Gel Tint Review

I couldn’t wait to open the packaging and get this stuff on my brows. Hilarity ensued when I did get said stuff on brows- it took a while as I found the applicator not precise enough for defining the shape I wanted. I had to ad-lib using cotton buds and also baby wipes. The consistency was a little too liquid for me, but I am not sure whether that was heat affected in this weather. After leaving on for the directed time it peeled away nicely and I was left with darker, more defined brows and didn’t have to wear brow pencil or powder for at least three days. Bonus.

A brow tattoo gel, I really was not sure about this but I was prepared to give it a go!

My brows are a huge part of my face and are the one thing that I make sure that are on point. I usually use a powder to do my brows so this was a totally new concept to me.

This tattoo gel comes in a tube, similar to a mascara,. You unscrew the lid and there is a brush with product on.

I chose the medium brown and the colour on the brush looks quite dark, but it all ends up ok.

You apply the gel to clean brows. I just followed the shape of my brows which I had just had shaped so I was off to a good start. The gel goes on smoothly and you leave it on for at least 20 minutes. I did that exactly because I was quite nervous as it was dark and I had visions of these super dark brows and wondering how to hide them!

So I peeled the gel off, it was not hard but it would have been easier if I had put a thicker coat on, but we live and learn. This revealed the most amazing coloured brows, well shaped and good to go!

In the morning I did my usual make up and had absolutely nothing to do with my brows, nothing!

This first application lasted three days which I was more than happy with. I will continue using this brow product and will repruchase it, I actually think this could be my Holy Grail brow product!

My first thought of this product was that it is very similar to the ETUDE HOUSE Tint My Brows Gel (one of my favourites) so I was interested to try out a western version of the peel off brow tattoo. Essentially this tints the skin of your brow and is supposed to last for around three days. Since I love cleansing my face I was eager to find out if this would actually last that long. The instructions for this product is fairly simple with only 3 steps. All you have to do is apply it, wait for it to dry and then peel it off. I thought the applicator would have made applying this product difficult as it is similar to a brush tip lip gloss applicator, but it was surprisingly easy. I do have quite thick brows though so those with thinner brows may find it difficult. I accidentally left it to dry for about an hour (suggests drying time should be at least 20mins) and it hadn't irritated the skin. After peeling it off my brows looked very nice, a bit too strong for a no make up day but it fades very nicely. The tint from this product lasted very well through the heat and also through swimming. My only con is that there isn't very much product and considering you have to keep dipping back in you end up going through this very quickly.

I must admit, I was a little skeptical about this product and my brows are something I don't like to tamper with too much. I have tried and true products I use on them that I know are going to deliver and keep me strong in my brow game.

My brows were thick when I was younger, but as I've gotten older (and after having 3 kids and my hair falling out) they are now quite patchy. One of my browns just has no arch anymore so I fill them in with brow pomades, pencils and brow mascara.

I applied the Maybelline Brow Tattoo easily, following the instructions to the tee. When I peeled it off I was a little worried it would pull my brows off, but it didn't. And WOW my brows looks amazing! Even the top of my missing arch was back! The colour was perfect and it lasted 3 days just like it said on the box.

I'm definitely getting some backups of these - they're amazing!!!

I have absolutely fallen in love with this product, I am so happy this has come in to my life - I no longer need to spend the extra money to get my brows tinted when I get my wax done!

This was genuinely SO easy to use. I have pretty full brows to begin with, but the hairs near the tail of my brows are very thin and very blonde, so I am always having to tint the hairs and fill my brows in during my daily makeup routine. This brow tattoo tinted the hairs and I think possibly the skin underneath, meaning I don't even need to fill my brows in when I have this on! I did my brows this morning and all I did was line them so they were a bit sharper, but I haven't needed to fill in any thin bits because the tint has done such an excellent job!

I did do two layers of this just to be sure, because the first layer I put on was pretty thin and I didn't think I had enough coverage, I left the product on for 25 mins and am so happy with the results, it does say you can leave it on for up to 2 hours, so I can imagine if you did leave it on even longer that the results would be even better. It's super easy to peel off and no need to wipe any excess product away either, because it just peels off! I've had this product on for 3 days now and it's still going strong!

This is definitely a 10/10 for me and I can't wait to repurchase. I've added photos to the photo wall of before, during and after.

MAYBELLINE BROW TATTOO GEL TINT

1. PACKAGING: The product comes in a small box, on the box you can find the listed ingredients, a list of "caution" notes, the shade name, the claims of the product, and an easy to follow step by step with photo's as well . . . all of this on such a small box, I am impressed!! Inside the box you will find a tube that holds the magical product. It has a shiny bronze colour screw cap and a matte black base that is clearly labelled with the product name. When you screw off the cap it has a small brush coated in product.

2. THE PRODUCT: The product is a thick consistency and as described is very gel like.

3. HOW TO USE IT: I have followed the box instructions by applying the product to clean brow, sweeping the product along the natural brow hairs, then letting the product dry for at least 20 mintues, the peeling the product off. But I tried a different method the 2nd time I tested it as the first time seemed to be abit messy and one brow looked way more thicker than the other. So I then decided to start off by making sure my brow area was clean and ready to go, I used a makeup brow spoolie to comb through my brow hairs. I then used a eyeliner kohl pencil to mark out my brows (I also used an Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Stencil as a guide), once I was happy with the brow shape, I used a cotton bud/ Q-tip to apply a thin layer of a balm around the outline of the brow marking that I made with the eye pencil (this acts as a barrier so the tint doesn't stain outside the line), I then apply then gel tint starting 1/3 in from my nose, I apply the product heavy to the tail part of my brow, once there is less product on the brush I go back and lightly apply product to the inner part of my brow as I prefer the gradient brow look. I set my phone's timer for 20 minutes, once the time is up I check to see if the product has tried down before peeling it off starting to peel from the tail of my brow inwards. I then use a spoolie to sweep through the brows to make sure the product has been removed. I then used a cotton pad and a small drop of makeup remover to clean up around the brows where the brow stencil markings were placed. I found this method worked great for me.

4. MY FINAL THOUGHTS: I was so excited to receive this product to test out. So I had great expectations of this product. I received the shade GREY BROWN which was an excellent colour match. After finding a different method that suited me I really like this product. There is only a couple of things I didn't like and that was the brush . . . I wish the brush was more of a brow brush than a nail polish type of brush also if the brush was a little more denser. The other thing is that I wish it lasted longer . . . I find that if I wear makeup and then wash my makeup off at the end of the day the brow tint also gets taken off.

OVERALL RATING: 8.5/10

When I first tried this I used it quite sparingly and found the application was easy. I think it would be better if the brush was a tad bit smaller and more defined. Because I used it quite sparingly I found that the result was good but not as dark as I expected it to be. I tried it again 2 days later and this time I was really generous with how much I used. I left it on for around 25mins. To remove the product i xoydlnt peel it off like the box showed. Instead I had to brush it off with an eyebrow brush. It was easy to remove and didn't pull any of my eyebrow hairs out. The result of my 2nd application was way better and I really liked it. I found it did last the 3 days and faded evenly so I was eased by that. Overall I will definitely reuse and repurchase. It's a great product for what it is and saves me time from filling in my brows in the morning. However if you were wanting a precise, perfect application you would need to still use a pencil or brow pomade.

I have never really used anything on my brows so this was extremely different for me. I have always wanted defined brows but have never had the time or the money to spend buying various products to see whether they worked or not.

When tryng this product for the first time I think I put too much on my brows as the product says you can peel it off after 20 minutes. However this wasn't the case for me the first time I used it. It was a little disappointing too because I had put on a face full of makeup and waited for the brow tint to dry. However I needed to remove it with warm water and cleanser. I think as time went on I got better at applying the product and it did peel off. I think it definitely gives you defined brows and it's only took 20 minutes for good results. The second time I tried it I left it on for around 45 minutes and the colour was definitely darker.

Consistency: This product definitely lives up to the gel consistency.

Smell: It also doesn't have an overall strong smell but it does still smell a little bit. However I didn't mind this too much.

Use: I seem to get around 3 days of the results. I don't mind what it looks like when it fades either. When it started to fade I would just put another application on. This worked fine and still looked good!

Results: It does what it says it's going to do! More defined brows and I'm in love with the result. I love the colour it's given my brows too.

Packaging: The packaging is cute and eye catching. Easy to read instructions especially for me being a newbe with these kind of products!

Price: I think the price is alright! I don't think it would last overly long for someone who wants to use it everyday.

Applicator: I think that this brush could be smaller. I struggled to stay in my brow and went out of the lines quite a bit. I feel like a smaller brush might be helpful for someone. Especially for someone who has had their eye brows threaded or are naturally thinner. This would help with applying the product more accurately.

Overall would definitely buy it again. I loved the results. I had people noticing a difference and they kept asking me if I'd had them professionally done. I would definitely recommend this product to friends also.

My brows and I have always had a love hate relationship... they unfortunately have a sparse shape that cannot be influenced by me, so most of the time I resort to filling them in with a crayon like pencil. That was until this bad boy product came into my life!

This product definitely surprised me, I had never used something so seemingly permanent (I know 3 days isn't too permanent but it was still scary). It was easy enough to use. However I wish the brush was a bit finer, I found it hard to get good defined lines, which resulted in a little bit too much in the brow department size wise. It applied like a tar and made me look like a cartoon character which I found amusing.

I wanted to really test it out so I left my medium brown colour on for an hour... it was perfect. Any longer and it probably would have been too dark. It was so satisfying peeling it off. Underneath my brows were defined, bold and how I would do them with pencil every morning. The mornings are so much less stressful because my brows are all ready to rock and roll.

This product lasted approximately 3 days before it had faded completely, although in the last day it seemed to have an orange like tone to it.

Regardless of this I will definitely continue to use this fine product!

I absolutely love the aesthetic of the package. The body of the tint is a matte black cylinder, and if someone were to see it in your purse would probably mistake it as a mascara. The bronze lid takes up nearly half of the actual body and is slightly reflective. When you twist it open, the applicator reminds me of a nail polish brush, but the formula smells a little like PVA glue, and looks like tar. It is definitely thicker than nail polish though, but I'm sure not as thick as actual tar.

When I first tried it, I did my right brow first. This is my first ever gel tint so I was quite shocked at the formula and how to apply. I felt like I shouldn't put too much just in case my brows ended up looking like black caterpillars. I removed it after 20 mins as per the instructions. I realised that I freaked out over nothing and actually more product is better. Since it is a tint, it’s literally supposed to just tint your brows and not fill them in like a pomade would. I tried to remove the gel on my right brow first but I think because I didn’t apply as thickly as I was supposed to, it hadn’t come off in one and go - I did scrape a bit, however the left one was more satisfying to remove which came off in one go.

Since it said not to wash around the area for 24 hours, I didn't use my usual face wash and opted for micellar water. However, the following day after showering it seemed like it had faded considerably which was disappointing as it claims it lasts for days and "gradually and evenly fade overtime". Side-eyeing you, Maybelline.

However I gave them the benefit of the doubt, and re-did my brows two days later, following more strictly to the 24 hour rule. This time around I was not afraid to layer much more, however once I did peel off the dried gel tint, the inner part of my brows did end up looking like black caterpillars! I had to use a spoolie to soften out the edges, but I was much happier with how my brows turned out as they did look quite defined. Unfortunately, the outer parts of my brows are a little more sparse so those weren't as defined (I made it work though, ha)!

After a day passed, I washed my face as per normal in the shower, and my brows still looked defined though a little more natural. I think we have to remember that this product is a "tint" after all, so of course you're not going to come out having instagram eyebrows.

Personally, I don't believe this lasts a few days. At best, I'd say 1-2 days even following the 24 hour no-washing-around-the-area rule. I'd say this works better for people who want to achieve a more natural brow look and/or have evenly sparse brows. I, unfortunately, am part of the slightly patchy brow crew so don't think tints alone would work for me.

Altogether, I would have rated this higher if it weren't for the false claims. I would not personally buy this, but instead recommend trying out korean brow tints which are much more affordable.
