Maybelline Colossal Up To 36H Waterproof Mascara

I was stoked to get a Maybelline Colossal Waterproof Mascara to trial, thanks BR! The packaging is classic Maybelline: bold, bright and chunky enough to find at the bottom of your handbag. The outside barrel is a little weird in that the top doesn't sit flush with the bottom so there's an odd gap. With all the money these companies spend on marketing, I would imagine the gap is supposed to subtly influence buyer behaviour in some way but to be honest, it just looks like the top's about to come off. There's nothing special about the brush either; it's the kind of close bristle round brush that you'd find on most everyday-wear mascaras. The thing that stands out about the Colossal, is the formula. Creamy liquid, deeply pigmented, and boy, does it last. It's smudge-proof if you rub your finger across it, as I did, and the formulation doesn't turn your finger black. It's cry-proof - feel free to apply just before your favourite weepie on Netflix, no ugly-crying here! And it's pillow-proof if you happen to fall asleep wearing it. (Naughty! You don't do that, do you??) It is however, not twenty-minute-hot-shower-proof: you WILL step out of the steam looking like a seductive panda. I didn't test it for a full 36 hours, but I bet it probably would stay on that long if you applied two coats and didn't shower - perfect for camping and music festivals :) All in all, another decent product from Maybelline, and a nice price point too.

While I didn't intentionally wear this mascara for 36 hours, it definitely stayed on my lashes for a day or two! I usually use a makeup removing cloth to remove my makeup, and it didn't fully come off with that.

This product is a classic black colour, which is my preference for mascara. One thing I noticed immediately was that it clumped my lashes up very quickly, with only two swipes after I'd taken the excess product off the brush. I was able to tidy it up a bit with a lash comb, but it was annoying to have to do. I know that this is a volumizing mascara, however I don't consider clumping multiple eyelashes together as 'volumizing.'

I didn't notice much mascara rubbing off during the day, which was better than other mascaras I've tried - especially as I overheat easily and tend to have oily skin around my eyes. It also held up pretty well to a sweaty 2 hour contortion training session. One of the reasons I choose not to wear mascara as often as I'd like to is that it rubs off onto my skin whenever I wear it, but this mascara may actually change this for me.

I did have a lot of trouble getting this product off my eyelashes completely, but I do kind of like the residual mascara effect. This is probably due to me using a product-free makeup removal facecloth rather than a dedicated eye makeup remover, but is something to keep in mind with this product.

Pros: Sticks well to lashes!! Wand is a good length and flexibility for application.

Cons: Clumped my eyelashes together. Hard to get the excess off the brush.

I'm always excited to try new mascaras and picked up the Maybelline Colossal Up To 36H Waterproof Mascara from the Beauty Vault. I've used other mascaras in the Maybelline Colossal range and love the chunky shape which makes it easy to unscrew the mascara and grip the wand.

I tend to prefer the wire brushes like this one over molded plastic mascara wands and it picks up a good amount of product and applies the mascara really effectively. It's not clumpy or too heavy so it takes few layers to build anything "colossal" like. If I use an eyelash curler before applying, it doesn't immediately sink the curl and I don't end up with fall out or smudging over the course of the day.

I also really appreciate that the Maybelline Colossal Up To 36H Waterproof Mascara is waterproof yet easily removable with my usual evening cleansing process.

I really love this Mascara ! Its a lovely dark black colour and the brush attachment makes it very easy to apply. It glides on my lashes evenly without any clumps and makes them look a lot longer then they actually are. The Mascara stays on all day without any smudges or flakes dropping off and was easily removed at bed time with my usual eye makeup remover . I will 100% be purchasing this mascara when this bottle is empty and will be recommending to others i know struggling to find a long lasting Mascara.

I used this Maybelline Colossal mascara once on a work day before going into lockdown and it lasted the day and overnight with no problems. It didn't really add much volume compared to other Maybelline mascara I have used, but it gave enough coverage and at the base of my lashes was still coated the day after (I didn't wash off to see how it lasted the night). It also didn't give me panda eyes by sleeping overnight with it still on.

It didn’t add a lot of length to my lashes but oh my lord the volume was amazing! It gave my lashes such a beautiful make over without leaving my lashes look like a clumpy mess. Something I am so passionate about. A huge pet peeve of mine is clumpy separated looking lashes.

It wore amazingly! No smudging of any kind and it lasted all day, flake and mess free! The only issue I have with this mascara is it is really, really hard to get off. I tried three different types of cleansers including an oil cleanser and it would not budge (I guess in hindsight it’s a good thing given it is a waterproof mascara). I think having a proper eye makeup remover is a must with this mascara.

What an amazing effect the Colossal Up To 36H Waterproof Mascara has! It lengthens and thickens my eyelashes in an instant! It doesn’t clump together like other brands and last all day long! Definitely will use it from now on!

I tried this mascara once or twice and I’m not impressed, first of all, I felt like it didn’t make much of a difference compared to their normal Non-waterproof mascara. It didn’t make my eyelashes look thicker or longer. Bonus was that it was easier to get off than other mascaras. I did the onion cutting test and it passed the tears test.

At first I found this quite clumpy both on the brush and eye lashes, it took a few goes of wiping the brush and re dipping to get it more smooth and even. Personally I prefer a small brush to a big one but this was ok. The colour was lovely and dark and once on looks lush and gave my lashes a lovely full and long look which I loved. Also for a waterproof mascara came off super easily with an oil cleanser. Overall I liked it and would purchase but still do prefer a small brush
