Maybelline Colossal Up To 36H Waterproof Mascara

I tried this mascara once or twice and I’m not impressed, first of all, I felt like it didn’t make much of a difference compared to their normal Non-waterproof mascara. It didn’t make my eyelashes look thicker or longer. Bonus was that it was easier to get off than other mascaras. I did the onion cutting test and it passed the tears test.

I have been wanting to find a waterproof mascara, and this one really STICKS. It doesn’t just fall off in water without smudges, it’s doesn’t even budge. So if you want a mascara that doesn’t come off during the day, this is a go to. I did find that didn’t go on as nicely as other mascaras I have used, it didn’t spread and volumize them that much.

I’m not completely sold on the formula of this mascara. I have to admit, it does do as the description says, it’s long lasting and doesn’t flake off which is great! However I found the mascara didn’t make my lashes look that amazing, and didn’t feel make them dramatically different from their natural state. I found the formula a little dry and would have loved for the mascara to provide a bit more length. Overall I think this mascara is an okay one for day to day “natural” makeup, however if you’re wanting a dramatic affect than I don’t think this is the right one!

I have to be honest this mascara isn't what I thought it would be. I have very fine eyelashes that aren't very long so thought it might help to make them look thicker and longer but the brush is too big which makes it hard to apply to fine eyelashes. Feels really clumsy and messy. It also is quite clumpy. For the price I think there are better options out there. But hey if u have a nice set of thick set of eyelashes it might be great. Just didn't tick the box for me. On the bright side it is water proof and is a generous size. Amd nothing against Maybelline.....I have had great products from them in the past!

Maybelline Colossal Up To 36H Waterproof Mascara is a great affordable mascara. This is a good choice if you are after a mascara that will last the distance and is waterproof.

My first impression of this mascara was that it would make a dramatic difference to the appearance of my eyelashes. The packaging has a photo of a before and after eye which looks very impressive. The bold yellow writing really stands out and the silver is eye-catching.

I applied x3 coats and found that while it did make a difference to my lashes the results were more natural-looking than the mascara that I normally use x2 coats with. It did go on really nicely with no clumps which is always important.

It was very waterproof and I struggled to get it off with my normal cleansing routine and even after using eye makeup remover some residue remained. I haven't swum with this mascara on but I would think it would stand up well with swimming, a big plus during summer!

Overall I would recommend this to friends who are looking for an affordable and long-lasting mascara. I would however recommend an alternative mascara if they were mainly after volume. In saying that if you are looking for an affordable mascara then this is a good option to try.

I really liked this mascara from the moment I applied it. The brush nicely separates my lashes, and the product doesn't clump. I applied it twice for a fuller/darker effect, which looked really good. It gives a nice natural long look - unlike some mascaras that go on so thick and make your lashes look heavy and clumpy. Definitely does what it says "smudge-proof, water resistant and won't flake". The only thing I didn't like about this mascara, is that I found it really hard to remove. I have always only ever used a micellar water to remove my make-up (including mascara). However this product was really difficult to take off with micellar water. Perhaps it would be fine if you have a specific eye make-up remover, but I refuse to spend money on one when I can use a micellar for everything. For this reason only, I wouldn't purchase this mascara.

Another great mascara from maybelline, it’s pretty standard in performance, nothing outstanding in my opinion. Performs like any other maybelline mascara on the market, I don’t think this brought anything new to the playground for us. I like the brush, it’s thick and fluffy, tube is cute too. It has nice black colour, but I felt like it was already a tad dry and I just got it out of the packet. I had to go through my lashes a few times for them to be coated properly, it doesn’t lengthen or makes my lashes fuller, it just colours them black, which for me is the bare minimum from a mascara. I will update this review after continued use, especially after I could wear this at work to see how it holds up, but just hanging around at home it stayed on great the whole day, no transferring onto the skin or under my eyes, so far it’s looking promising. Even though it’s waterproof I had no trouble removing this mascara at all, came off easy with a micellar water and a quick face wash in the shower.

I’m always trying different mascaras so I was really happy to get the chance to trial the Maybelline Colossal 36H Waterproof Mascara. Maybelline promises up to 36H wear time and claims it to be flake-proof, water-proof and smudge-resistant. The brush has soft natural bristles and is quite big and thick. The bristles are long and evenly spaced but not too close together so it gives a precise application and an even distribution of the product. The formula of the mascara itself is slightly on the dry side which makes it easier to work with and harder to smudge. It’s quite lightweight and builds easily without clumping. The pigmentation is great, a very deep dense black. One coat of the mascara gives a very natural look but additional coats add intense volume. It’s essential that if you want more than one coat that you apply the second coat before the first one dries. Fortunately, it dries quite quickly. I really like this mascara. It creates volume, without feeling heavy. It doesn’t make my lashes stiff or weigh them down. My lashes look more vivid with extra volume and more length. I’ve had no smudging or flaking. I’ve worn it all day and trialled wearing it when swimming, peeling onions and napping. No transfer. Being waterproof, I needed a good makeup remover to take off all the product. Garnier Waterproof Micellar Water or the Nivea MicellAir Gel did the job without harsh rubbing. At my age my eyelashes are becoming more sparse. I’m really enjoying my lashes looking fuller with extra length and definition. I think this is going to be just what I need in the humid, sticky Auckland summer. I would definitely buy this mascara again and would recommend it to my friends.

I haven’t used Maybelline products in 10 years and first of all price is amazing!! Excellent product in this price range.

First it’s packaging makes it simple to use, but there is an overwhelming smell of chemicals with this product that I haven’t smelt with any other mascara before.

Did it do as it said? Well it didn’t last 36hours (yes I left it on while I slept one night to see) but it was definitely still there when I washed it off before bed at night.

It didn’t give me volume as such but made the lashes more defined, didn’t flake at all, but definitely made them pop!

Would I use again? Yeah I think I would as like the effect it had on my lashes.

While I didn't intentionally wear this mascara for 36 hours, it definitely stayed on my lashes for a day or two! I usually use a makeup removing cloth to remove my makeup, and it didn't fully come off with that.

This product is a classic black colour, which is my preference for mascara. One thing I noticed immediately was that it clumped my lashes up very quickly, with only two swipes after I'd taken the excess product off the brush. I was able to tidy it up a bit with a lash comb, but it was annoying to have to do. I know that this is a volumizing mascara, however I don't consider clumping multiple eyelashes together as 'volumizing.'

I didn't notice much mascara rubbing off during the day, which was better than other mascaras I've tried - especially as I overheat easily and tend to have oily skin around my eyes. It also held up pretty well to a sweaty 2 hour contortion training session. One of the reasons I choose not to wear mascara as often as I'd like to is that it rubs off onto my skin whenever I wear it, but this mascara may actually change this for me.

I did have a lot of trouble getting this product off my eyelashes completely, but I do kind of like the residual mascara effect. This is probably due to me using a product-free makeup removal facecloth rather than a dedicated eye makeup remover, but is something to keep in mind with this product.

Pros: Sticks well to lashes!! Wand is a good length and flexibility for application.

Cons: Clumped my eyelashes together. Hard to get the excess off the brush.
