Maybelline Great Lash Mascara Review

This is not a good mascara, despite it being a cult classic and favorite of many it just didn't work for me. It's affordable though, but if you want a better mascara there is only a $5 difference anyways.

The brush is very average, just a normal spoolie, which could be where I went wrong but I am not impressed with it. The formula is average too, inky black in colour and a good consistency - not too watery and not too dry.

But when I try to apply it on my lashes it just comes off in huge amounts, causing my lashes to clump and when I take a clean spoolie to comb out the clumps all of the length comes off.

The lasting time was good, I found it didn't smudge too much on my oily eyelids and only had minimal flaking to my surprise.

Maybe other people could make this work, but for me it just doesn't. I may end up trying the 'Lots of Lashes' version of this, it looks like it may work better for me but as for the classic I really don't like it.

I found this mascara to be light on the eye and easy to apply for a qick get up and go. No clumping and the long brush makes it easy to use when reaching in the eye corner.

Perhaps I have been very unlucky but I’ve purchased twice now and both times it hasn’t lasted long and looks like it has already dried out. I’m not sure if maybe that’s the texture it’s meant to be? But when I have used it, it seems to smudge even though it’s so hard to remove!

I use to buy this, and thought I must have been applying it wrong as I had heard great review but was not getting the same effect as every one else... I would apply it around 8am .. but when I checked at lunchtime, around 11am it would no longer be on my lashes... but under my eyes :(... Then it was a horrible, horrible job trying to remove it from there, product that is definitely not for me :(

A really average mascara that didn't do much. Good if you were going for a really natural look though I guess. It didn't thicken the lashes at all but did make them black and didn't clump too much

This is a good, cheap mascara to keep as a spare at work or in a handbag. It's ok, I like the brush a lot, although its not my favourite mascara because it is a bit thin and takes a while to dry. Having said that, it is good value. It's always worth spending a bit more on a quality mascara that thicken, darkens and lasts longer.

I do love the wand size of this mascara. Its great for those of us in the stumpy lash department. Its nice and black and the waterproof formula is very very waterproof but it doesn't offer much in way of lengthening of volume.

Its ok, its nice and cheap, but don't believe the hype about it being holy grail.

I used to really love this brand, however after a bit of a break from it I've recently opened a new tube and I'm just disappointed. Product seems really sloppy and wet. I always have to check before I leave for work that it hasn't come off all over my face. Yesterday I sneezed just after applying it, looked in the mirror and I had great black lines all over the area just below my eye line. Not impressed, it just seems to come right off as it's too liquid. I doubt I will use this again once I've finished this one. I prefer a drier product.

Mascara is definitely a staple piece in my makeup bag. I will never leave the house without wearing it so I am generally quite critical with what mascaras I use. The Maybelline Great Lash was a reasonably good purchase, however I wasn't expecting much from my quick supermarket bargain in the first place. One thing I noticed straight away was its clumping, which is something it claimed not to do. Reading through the comments I'm not the only one who thinks this. Saying that, clumping isn't a major issue for me as I have quite thin eyelashes and prefer the extra bit of volume, unless it is excessive which the Maybelline one isn't. My main issue with the product is the struggle it is to get off. I found myself with black smudges under my eyes at the end of the day which were a real difficulty to remove. However I LOVED the length it gave my eyelashes, which was what made me wear it several time!

I bought this as a cheap alternative after reading some good reviews of it in a magazine but it wasnt as good as other mascaras of a similar quality, really its worth spending $10 more to get something a bit more decent. A lot of it comes out and its really hard to get a nice even coat without it smudging somewhere. If you apply it very patiently you can get good results but its really not good for everyday use (as someone that loves using mascara - it would just annoy me). It has a weird brush too...kinda wish I bought another mascara really
