Super drying and uncomfortable to wear. Flaking usually and it's ot the type of lip stick you want to reapply at all.

I like using this and keep it as a go to in my purse however I do agree the packaging is too long making it difficult to store and carry. It always makes my makeup purse sit funny. What I like about it is that you can brighten up your look relatively easily for many hours to come. I used a browny pink colour close ro natural and enjoyed the look but if you don’t get it on right the first time you are constantly battling an uphill lip wiping/reapply battle and yes. It dries your lips out. Balm is so lush tho - what a pity it runs out halfway before the colour. I enjoyed the wand applicator it feels nice but top lip is always hard
Tips: Shorter product with twice the balm and a slightly more dilute colour - gold or glossy letters that aren’t easily rubbed off to prevent people using it back wards for ages as I was - maybe that’s why the balm didn’t last :)
I purchased Maybelline Superstay 24hr Color in Burgundy (#585), which is a deep, dark, red-wine burgundy colour packaged in a dual ended tube. The lipstick colour twists off one end of the tube and has a colts-foot applicator. At the other end of the tube is a slide out, retractable lip balm.
This lipstick was very disappointing and didn't live up to expectations, especially since Maybelline's website stated "No crumbling, caking, fading, feathering or transferring." I found that this colour "split" if I smiled and remained stripy for the rest of the day, so much for the "micro-flex formula"! This may not be as noticable with lighter colours but after trying this darker one and being horribly disappointed, I'm not prepared to purchase another Maybelline Superstay 24hr lipstick.
I found that I had to reapply the moisturising lip balm every hour, as it doesn't last very long and the colour underneath still feels very dry. This could probably be fixed by applying a small amount of lip balm before applying any make-up and then removing the excess lip balm before applying the lipstick, although this may compromise the staying power of the lipstick even more.
When reapplying the Superstay lip balm, the lipstick colour did start to flake off a little and ended up on the lip balm. The amount of lip balm provided in the tube is definitely not enough to last as long as the colour and if you apply any regular lip balm (any brand) once you've run out of Maybelline Superstay balm, the lipstick colour goes patchy and immediately starts coming off. Apparently Maybelline Superstay Balm is sold individually with no colour attached, but I haven't seen it anywhere and I don't see why they can't provide something that lasts as long as the colour does, seeing as the two need to be used together.
Compared to Maybelline Superstay Gloss 12hr, which comes with a clear lip gloss instead of a lip balm (the gloss tends to run out when there's still half a tube of colour), the formula of the 14hr seems to be a little better. Even though it does pill and look patchy after about 3 hours. I found it lasted longer and felt better on my lips than the 24hr colour does.
Personally, I'm very disappointed in this product and would not recommend it to anyone. If you're looking for a decent Maybelline lipstick rather avoid these dual ended colour and gloss/balm tubes and try Maybelline 14hr Lipstick in the traditional lipstick bullet packaging.
Tips: To apply the product, use the colts-foot applicator to spread a thin layer of colour evenly over both lips. Don't rub your lips together as the colour will go patchy. Wait a full two minutes for the colour to dry before applying the low-shine moisturising lip balm over the top. This will stop the colour from feeling sticky or tacky.
I'm seriously shocked at the negative reviews and I'm so sorry they haven't had the awesome experience I have. I bought Very Cranberry and loved it soooo much I went out the next day and also bought Coral and Toffee too!! As per the other reviews, the lipstick colour twists off one end of the tube and has a colts-foot applicator. At the other end of the tube is a slide out, retractable lip balm... it really does last much much longer than any other lipstick/lip gloss I've ever tried. I ate and drunk and ate and drunk some more and did a yoga class and sweated and it was STILL on and looking fresh - not dry or flaky at all. I've had it last 8 hours which is a miracle.
Tips: I think the tricks and tricks to this magic stay proof lippy are:
Make sure that you don't have any other lipstick on first, it doesn't mix well - a moisturiser or balm first is good though.
You can't re-apply this lipstick, otherwise it does go flaky and dry. If it's been 8 hours and you might need to re-apply, completely remove it before putting it on.
After a few hours it can feel a little dry, but only if you lick your lips etc. Either way it will still look GORG. If you want to, add some more of the clear balm, or use any other lip balm/moisturiser that you have.
The shade I am reviewing is 'Keep Up the Flame'. As the name suggests, this is a fiery red colour.
This promises to last on your lips for 24 hours... it doesn't. I purchased this to wear to my sister's 21st party as I was going as Morticia. Thus I needed an extremely long-lasting red lipstick that would endure drinking and hours without touchups.
This does last longer on my lips than traditional lipstick, but I noticed it starts to degrade around the 3 hour when drinking. Without drinking or eating I can get another 2 or so hours wear out of it before having to touch it up.
This comes with a doe foot applicatior which I find super easy to use, and on the other end is a clear gloss that seals the lipstick. I like the idea and the gloss is really comfortable to use and wear.
What I didn't like about this is that it definitely didn't stay on as long as it claimed to, and it did dry my lips up a bit.
The pigmentation is good for the first hour or so, but then starts to fade away which I find a little annoying.
Overall I think this is average and I wouldn't purchase it again. I think you can get better lipsticks for a smaller price, that perform better.
I really disliked this lipstick. I bought it in 'Cherry' as I love a good cherry-hued lippy and I was attracted by the idea of a long lasting liquid lipstick.
It comes in a double-ended tube with the lip colour at one end and a clear conditioning balm on the other end, which you apply after the colour to seal it in and leave your lips supple.
You apply this with a doe-foot applicator which it allows it to glide on easily. The colour is pretty pigmented, and once I sealed it with the balm it left my lips feeling soft and looking great.
This didn't last long though, I found as soon as the balm wore off which was pretty quick, my lips felt very disgusting and dry. If they could feel dry AND sticky, that would be how I'd describe it! I just wanted to wipe the colour off my lips.
I also didn't find the colour particular long-lasting overall, definately not the 24 hours it said it would. I found that like most lippies it faded first in the centre, leaving me with patchy colour that began to flake off.
I think there's so many alternatives if you're after a long-lasting colour now and I would definately not re-purchase or recommend this particular one.
Tips: Line your lips first so that when it wears it doesn't look as noticeable, and keep a lip balm on hand to combat dryness!
Yes I thought I’ll have some of that, a lipstick that will stay on all day through drinking and eating, whilst keeping the lips hydrated and not dried out. Grabbed the plum intense colour with high hopes, which were shattered! Firstly the good news, the balm they put in the opposite side to the colour lipstick is heaven!! I’m sure it’s the same as their baby lips formula as it really did make my lips soft, which after use of the lipstick I used all up rescuing them.
The 24 hours lipstick was horrible, now I do keep my lips in pretty condition so I know it wasn’t the fault of my lips. The colour I thought I had brought was actually really mute it wasn’t plum although that is what the tube and packaging read, it sat on my lips as a deep pink hue not near dark enough to be classed as a purple plum colour. It flaked from the get go, I applied and waited for the lipstick to set before blotting or putting my lips together, but once set I went on with the application of the balm to seal it and bam, flaking. So dishearten I took off the colour, to my pain I might add as I was at work at the time and had no other way to remove than a tissue and the balm at the other end of the tube, so I rubbed my poor lips raw, but it looked better than to have flaking uneven lipstick. I used the rest of the balm up that day just treating my lips back to health.
I’m not sure if I got a weird reaction or a dud product but for me personally I won’t be touching it again.
Not the greatest lipstick. Doesn't last very long and is very drying on the lips. I use it only sometimes.
Tips: Use vaseline on lips before sleeping.
