I was very excited to test the Maybelline Super stay Powder foundation. My job often includes picking orders in a hot warehouse and by the end of the day my make up is definitely not how it started. Firstly love the packaging, it's a lovely slim compact which fits easily into a pocket in your hand bag. It contains a thin application sponge which works well but I prefer to use a bigger sponge. The foundation applies nicely and has a nice Matt finish. I found it was great for evening out my redness and although it didn't fully cover any blemishes it definitely minimised them visually. It has a super light, almost not there, feel on the skin which I love, I prefer a light make up so this was perfect for me. I love the Matt finish which eliminated my shiny T Zone. The product removes easily with Micellar water which I always find a worry with Super stay products. This one wiped clean very easily. I wore this on a busy work day where I spent most of my day picking orders, it's hot, tiring work and the foundation stayed beautifully in place with no caking in creases or disappearing due to a mild hot glow. Overall I was very impressed with the Maybelline Super stay Foundation, it has definitely found its way into the top spot in my make up bag and u can see me purchasing this in my future.

Tips: Use your own brush or sponge for application, the sponge supplied is thin, obviously so to make it work in the compact, so great for touch ups during the day, if needed, but not my favorite item for applying.
Superstay Foundation? Superstay It is!
I love powder foundations due to my oily skin I prefer not to use liquid foundations so when I came across this one I was keen to try it.
The coverage is medium but buildable without looking cakey. You can layer it and it will still look great.
The powder goes on smooth and silky especially if using the powder sponge it comes with, this will also give you a fuller coverage application. For a lighter more buildable coverage use a powder brush.
There’s no noticeable scent to the powder so if you’re sensitive to smells you need not worry.
I got caught in the heavy rain whilst wearing this foundation and I was amazed to see that the water just trickled off my face leaving my foundation unbothered so it is definitely waterproof.
As I mentioned I do have oily skin but this foundation held up against that.
Tips: Use a powder brush to build up the coverage
Unfortunately the shade I chose was too dark for my winter skin - however as I darken in summer it should suit better. The compact itself is simple, white in colour which makes it easy to locate in my makeup bag. The sponge and mirror is tucked away in a secret compartment under the foundation and stays pretty clean considering the use. The foundation is incredibly fine and almost silky when you run your finger over it - powder transfers readily. First usage: Using the flat thin sponge provided I immediately dislike the sponge - its flimsy and doesnt provide enough coverage with a swipe. However I am impressed by the transfer from sponge to face and the coverage from the foundation is great too. It blended into my skin beautifully even though the colour was too dark it actually looked pretty good! It can look a little powdery but if you work it a little that fades away.
I have used my mineral foundation brush to see what kind of finish it would leave and didnt love it - it looked like it was sitting on top of the skin and again powdery. I also used my makeup sponge and loved the finish that left - it was more silky.
It can be used heavily for a full coverage or lightly for daily use just to blur blemishes and make skin look more even. It also doesn't transfer much at all once applied which is nice!
Overall...I like it. And would probably love it if it were the correct colour. Will probably end up looking for it in the correct colour for work where I usually have a light makeup look.
Tips: Find an applicator that works with this powder for the look that you are after.
I was really surprised by the packaging on this product. It comes fully equipped with a mirror and a sponge tucked away in a handy compartment below the pressed disk of powder. Great for throwing in your handbag and touching up on the go. It feels like a classy compact.
The consistency of the product is beautifully smooth and weightless, for a lasting and mattifying powder foundation it doesn't feel heavy or like you are wearing a lot of product. It doesn't crease or move around on your face like other products I have tried so once applied you can be assured that it's not going to look too obvious to others you are wearing makeup.
The price point is great too, different NZ companies show it retailing from $20.39 on special with up to $30 for its normal retail. Good value and even better value on special.
You can build the coverage by applying with the sponge for areas that need more and if you just want to be shine free use your powder brush to dust. Good for combination skins to apply with the sponge on your oily areas or textured pore parts of the face. If your skin is drier definitely dust with a powder brush to apply.
Great range of colours to suit a range of skintones. Lovely lightweight feel and texture when wearing, very smooth powder so it doesn't make the skin texture too obvious to others.
Definitely piqued my interest to try other Maybelline products!
Tips: Can be worn as a Foundation or to set other Foundations in place.
Application method will determine the coverage so if you just want to set your makeup or reduce shine use a large powder brush to apply. If you want full coverage apply with the sponge included.
Use as a blotter- if you have greasy areas on your face just apply where needed. Ie T Zone
Wait for other makeup to dry before going in as a finishing product otherwise you will look patchy. So if you are using a primer or liquid foundation underneath make sure it's touch dry before applying this powder.
I was very excited to trial this product as I am on the oilier side and really enjoy wearing a powder foundation. When it arrived I was a little nervous about the shade as it looked much darker than my other powders but seemed to work on my skin and didn’t oxidise as some powders tend to do on my face . I applied this at 7 in the morning and the first day I used my usual mattifying primer and it was probably 8 hours later that it started to break apart on my skin. This for me is actually good as most foundations start to look a bit worse for wear at this point so I was impressed that a powder could last this long. The next day I tried it with a more hydrating primer and was having a particularly oily day and while I still had decent coverage when I got home it looked like a had a film of colour on my face. I’ve since worn it again and dabbed a loose powder on the t-zone to set it and it’s lasted around 8 hours. The packaging is pretty standard for a powder foundation, there’s a compartment underneath which holds a sponge. I wouldn’t even bother using the sponge as it’s so thin and flimsy it really doesn’t do much. You can pick up a couple of cheap ones at farmers that will do a much better job or use a brush and buff it in. Which is what I did and it looked a lot more natural. This is definitely the most long wearing powder foundation I’ve tried and although it definitely didn’t last 24 hours I was still impressed and it may last longer on a different skin type . It can definitely be worn sheer if used with a sponge or a brush for a fuller coverage.
Tips: Add a loose setting powder over the t-zone to prevent shine
Was super easy to use and provided me with great coverage, I applied using the sponge included. Comes in a compact with a mirror and separate compartment to store the sponge, so made it great to pop into my handbag.
Provided a soft matte finish, weightless feel that was sweat proof, water proof and transfer proof with no caking.
Lasted all day and continued to look fresh.
Available in chemist, department stores and supermarkets, so super easy to purchase.
Comes in a range of colours to suit any skin tone at an affordable price.
I was lucky enough to be picked to review this product. Unfortunately, I chose the wrong shade for my skin so this review will be based on the functionality and whether it did what it says it would and not necessarily how it looked on my skin.Getting the wrong shade was 100% my fault amd no reflection on beauty review or maybelline.
The product comes in a nice little compact disc type shape. It's easy to open and close and as it is mix between liquid and powder, isn't flaky or messy.
The disc is easy to open and close and is simple yet chic looking.
I found the product easy to apply and is smooth and visable enough that you can ensure you are great great coverage.
I have combination skin so found it did cover blemishes but maybe not a much as I would have liked as did have to apply 3 or 4 times on a couple of breakout zones. I am not into the shiny or shimmery look when it comes to foundation so am happy to say that this looks smooth and the finished look would be what I would want from a foundation/powder. I am more of a natural look girl and this gave me that to a certain extent (or would have if I had gotten the right shade).
The maybelline superstay 16 hour powder did last the day and deffinietly is the sweat, heat and oil proof as per its claims. This is a massive bonus for me - I spend a lot of time outdoors and don't always have the closeness of a mirror or a facility to be able to do touch-ups. It's a massive bonus to know that I can rely on the Maybelline Superstay 16 hour powder to take me through the day.
My local maybelline stockist has sold out of this product but I will be buying some (in the right shade), once they are back in stock. I believe it retails for around $30 which is a bargain in my opinion.
I usually use a liquid foundation and have been regularly horrified looking in the mirror at the end of the work day to find my foundation has slid off parts of my face and is super patchy. I’ve tried swapping out my setting spray, primer and moisturiser, but it’s time I admitted the problem comes down to the foundation.
It was easy enough to choose the right Maybelline Superstay 24H Hybrid Powder Foundation colour for me from swatches online. It comes in a cute white compact with a small sponge conveniently included in the bottom of the packaging which is also sturdy enough to keep the product safely enclosed in my makeup bag.
I’ve been applying the Maybelline Superstay 24H Hybrid Powder Foundation using the included sponge after applying concealer (another Maybelline Superstay product!) where it’s needed. It builds so well that I was initially concerned it looked a bit powdery and ghost-like, and I’m not used to seeing my pores! But looking in the mirror later with the day I was happy with the approach, and it lasted! I was just left with a few missing patches around my nose where my glasses sit.
If you still prefer a liquid foundation, the Maybelline Superstay 24H Hybrid Powder Foundation works really well as a setting powder which makes everything stay where I apply it.
This product was a bit of a learning curve for me, so hopefully this review helps somebody skip the beginning frustration.
As a straight powder foundation this is chalky and difficult to apply. The sponge is all but useless and a brush just doesn't pick it up well.
I went on youtube to look at reviews, to see if it was just me, and it was there I learnt this is a bit like the moisture mist foundation of yesteryear - you need to apply with a wet sponge.
Problem solved - it went on evenly, was buildable in coverage and looked amazing. The finish is matte. The coverage goes from medium to heavy.
And yes - it lasts!
I was excited to try this as I have had so much trouble with finding a foundation that will last the day. This is an easy to open compact that comes with a sponge for application and a mirror. As I was in a hurry on the first day of use I used neither. I couldn't find anywhere that said whether to apply with a damp sponge or dry, so went with damp. It goes on easy and although it says medium to full coverage, I found it to be more medium. First use I only had moisturizer underneath no primer. It was fairly even, although I have super dry patches so found this highlighted those more than other foundations. Love the way it felt on my skin, as it says, it feels very lightweight. Second day I used a primer and again with the damp sponge. I found this made it settle into my fine lines more and went kind of chunky. Third day on and I have used a dry sponge to apply. It is much easier this way and applies better. I'm still finding its not ideal for skin that has super dry patches and it seems to make my fine lines a little more pronounced but I am hopeful my skin will even out a little with the warmer weather on the way. Over the weekend, I worked several hours and then came home and did the lawns. While it didn't look quite as good as when first done in the morning, I was surprised at how well it did last with it still looking fairly even. The shade I received is possibly not quite right but it still works for me. As far as foundations go, this would be the best I have found so far. It lasts reasonably well the entire day with no touch ups, is lightweight and easy to apply which is great for me as I'm not great with makeup. Definitely be looking at getting this foundation again.
Tips: Apply with a dry sponge for easier application.
