The case the lipstick/gloss is in is attractive and the colour is easy to find in your handbag! When I opened it up I thought ok this looks more like a lip gloss than lip stick. Nice curved wand to apply. It was nice and smooth to apply but once it dries it feels hard, doesn’t really soften into your lips like my normal lip sticks. You can always know it’s on your lips by the hardness. It has a nice bright colour and definitely lasts a lot longer than usual lip sticks. I would probably buy it again just for the long lasting colour

I was really excited to try this lipstick as I have been trying to find an alternative for my favourite l'oreal lipstick for a while. Unfortunately I wanted to love it way more than I did, sadly. Firstly the packing is super cute, lightweight for the handbag and modern. The colour I recieved(Coy) although was too intense for my skin tone was lovely and I want to try Cheeky, Peach and the red. The formula is lightweight on the lips, smooth and has good colour pay off. The applicator is a good size and shape and it allows you to get a nice clean crisp edge along the lipline. It claims that it is longwear and transfer proof. I agree with this. Within 2mins it was totally transfer proof. Ok so here's it down fall... no matter how I prep my lips I can't get it to dry down. Although it becomes transfer proof it is still sticky!! If you do not like sticky this is not for you. If I found a colour in this that I absolutely loved then I could possibly overlook the stickiness but for now I wouldn't choose it over other lipsticks.
Tips: If anyone knows how to get it to dry down please let me know!!! Have tried prepping lips in different ways and even setting with translucent powered with no luck.
Maybelline’s Superstay Vinyl Ink comes in a modern looking rectangular tube, which matches the colour of the product. This is useful for quickly finding it in your make up bag or purse. However it is quite large, so not always easy to have with you if you are using a small purse.
I tried the colour Witty.
The first thing I noticed on opening this product is the very strong, artificial smell. It’s kind of sickly sweet but plasticky.
It has a pretty standard, slightly angled pad for application. The colour is pretty much as expected.
Applying the colour is a little tricky as it is highlight pigmented, you needs to be precise, but it’s hard to get an even layer of product on the pad. I used two layers to get full coverage and it looked very even.
The colour goes on quite shiny and soon settles into a slight shine that looks really nice.
The colour definitely lasts. Even though it transferred to me coffee cups, it looked the same on my lips after several hours.
However the part I can’t get past is the stickiness - it feels uncomfortably sticky on the lips the whole time you wear it. I felt like I had little tendrils connecting my two lips as a result of talking, licking my lips or pressing my lips together.
For that reason, I wouldn’t use this product again. But if you can put up with that, it does have great staying power. It is also a little harder to remove.
Tips: Maybelline recommends shaking the bottle before use - I can’t tell what this does but perhaps ensures the pad is well covered?
When I was looking at swatches I didn't believe I'd acheive the glossy yet matte finish you see on the models. I know something can't be glossy and matte, but google them and you'll see what I mean!
The packaging is sturdy and handbag proof, they'll be no spillage or leaks. The applicator does the job, it's a good size to line and fill.
I loved my colour choice, peachy, very natural but also stirking.
It lasts well and touch ups are smooth.
I received this liquid lip colour as part of a trial and was excited to try it out - as the promises were no budge vinyl colour, with up to 16H wear & an instant shine finish. The packaging is a slightly chunky oblong tube but the lid is easy to unscrew & the wand also easy to manoeuvre. I like the colour very much - #35 Cheeky - neutral, in the same toning but darker than my normal lip colour. Unfortunately, here's where the rest of it would make me think twice about buying the next time: 1. even an hour or two after I applied it, it still felt tacky/ sticky and because it didn't dry well - 2. it transferred onto glasses, tissues etc. and 3. I had to touch up the colour during the day a couple of times and 4. when it wasn't tacky, it also wasn't shiny & dried my lips out a bit.
Tips: Shake well before use & apply a thin coat. Reapply during the day rather than expecting it to last or trying to pile it on.
I love this lipstick! It goes on like a dream, and doesnt rub off. The wand is good quality and will withstand rough tubing. The colour is really great too, very deep.
I love the glossy finish, something i've avoided for years. This is like a lip gloss, without the messy and ick!
I really liked this product - the shade was very similar to my lip tone so I felt it enhanced it without looking obvious. It dried quickly and seemed like a stain effect, where the top layer came off but underneath there was a pretty blush effect that lasted ages and didn’t come off.
Tips: Try blotting the top coat after it dries to get rid of any excess
I am still torn on this product because it is really great but it makes some pretty lofty promises that it doesn’t 100% hold up too.
I wanted to trial a dark shade to really put it through its paces and the colour did not disappoint. The shade Royal is super rich and pigmented and goes on extremely opaque - no streaks at all.
The texture feels nice when applying, really smooth, but it quickly gets tacky if you put too much on. So you have to get it on fast and just one coat. It’s deceptive because it goes on glossy so feels like it will be more forgiving! The wand is quite big which is ok but you need to be confident when going in for clean lines with the dark shade. It dries with a pretty matte feel.
Once it dries things are interesting.. I would not consider this high gloss or vinyl once it dries. It’s certainly not matte, and I like it! But I’d hoped for a miracle with more shine.
Now the most important bit - the staying power!! I was pretty impressed! It does not smudge BUT it does come off from the inner lips with eating. Now to be fair I REALLY put it to the test and day one and ate ramen noodle soup! So yeah unfortunately no miracle and I was left with rather dark liner that truely wouldn’t budge! I couldn’t get it off!!
The next day I ate more reasonably for lipstick but still I did loose a bit on the inner lips over time.
Over-all that loss with eating is my only negative. It stays on incredibly well when not eating and I would say if you ate more politely than I did you might get 16 hours out of it - my lip line certainly did!
I’ll definitely keep using it and I’m keen to try a lighter shade!
Tips: Don’t apply too much!! It collects in the corners or your mouth
Wow this stays on just like it says it will! Super bright, long lasting but a bit sticky. Definitely would still use it again.
Tips: I did a coat, left it to dry out a bit then did anithdr coat. This made the look a lot fuller and brighter.
This was a tricky one for me, as while it did what it said it would, and stayed firmly on my lips, it was super tacky, as in 45 minutes later it was still there, sticking my lips together.. While this may not put everyone off, for a balm wearer only this was quite off putting and annoying. The colour was beautiful, and the formula went on really nicely, the applicator was a decent size but still thin enough to line the lip with ease. There was very little colour transfer, from the time of application right through to when I had to scrub it off in the shower. Overall this would be fantastic for weddings or special events where you want to apply and forget about it but for day to day wear I think it’s potentially a bit high octane, but if that’s your thing, then this is your lippy!
Tips: Perhaps try an oil cleanser to remove it as this stuff stays! General face cleanser was no match!
