The 16 hour wear, no budge or transfer, had me eagerly wanting to put this lip vinyl to the test. The instructions were simple.....shake, swipe and go!! I followed these instructions but I found it to be sticky on my lips The gloss look was nice and the colour is great, however I found it did transfer to my coffee cup and water glass. I liked the idea of a vegan lip gloss and enjoyed using it. Sadly it didn't meet the claims for me, I found it no better than other lip gloss brands I already owned. Would I buy it? Probably not, overall I found it to be average.

Tips: Avoid rubbing your lips together after applying the gloss.
Maybelline’s Superstay Vinyl Ink comes in a modern looking rectangular tube, which matches the colour of the product. This is useful for quickly finding it in your make up bag or purse. However it is quite large, so not always easy to have with you if you are using a small purse.
I tried the colour Witty.
The first thing I noticed on opening this product is the very strong, artificial smell. It’s kind of sickly sweet but plasticky.
It has a pretty standard, slightly angled pad for application. The colour is pretty much as expected.
Applying the colour is a little tricky as it is highlight pigmented, you needs to be precise, but it’s hard to get an even layer of product on the pad. I used two layers to get full coverage and it looked very even.
The colour goes on quite shiny and soon settles into a slight shine that looks really nice.
The colour definitely lasts. Even though it transferred to me coffee cups, it looked the same on my lips after several hours.
However the part I can’t get past is the stickiness - it feels uncomfortably sticky on the lips the whole time you wear it. I felt like I had little tendrils connecting my two lips as a result of talking, licking my lips or pressing my lips together.
For that reason, I wouldn’t use this product again. But if you can put up with that, it does have great staying power. It is also a little harder to remove.
Tips: Maybelline recommends shaking the bottle before use - I can’t tell what this does but perhaps ensures the pad is well covered?
I did not love this product, it left my lips feeling sticky and tacky. It doesn't completely dry down on the lips so it feels like a tacky residue. Its also more of a matte finish than a shine finish. I was really excited to try this product as the fact it was a long wear shine finish lip product really interested me as I only have matte long wear products, but the shine doesn't last. The one good thing about this product though is that its highly pigmented and gives a great bright colour and it really does last all day. I just put my fave clear gloss over it throughout the day and it worked great!
Tips: Use a lip exfoliant before using this product, when it dried down it really showed off my dry lips and stuck to any dry skin I had
I was really excited to try this lipstick as I have been trying to find an alternative for my favourite l'oreal lipstick for a while. Unfortunately I wanted to love it way more than I did, sadly. Firstly the packing is super cute, lightweight for the handbag and modern. The colour I recieved(Coy) although was too intense for my skin tone was lovely and I want to try Cheeky, Peach and the red. The formula is lightweight on the lips, smooth and has good colour pay off. The applicator is a good size and shape and it allows you to get a nice clean crisp edge along the lipline. It claims that it is longwear and transfer proof. I agree with this. Within 2mins it was totally transfer proof. Ok so here's it down fall... no matter how I prep my lips I can't get it to dry down. Although it becomes transfer proof it is still sticky!! If you do not like sticky this is not for you. If I found a colour in this that I absolutely loved then I could possibly overlook the stickiness but for now I wouldn't choose it over other lipsticks.
Tips: If anyone knows how to get it to dry down please let me know!!! Have tried prepping lips in different ways and even setting with translucent powered with no luck.
I received this liquid lip colour as part of a trial and was excited to try it out - as the promises were no budge vinyl colour, with up to 16H wear & an instant shine finish. The packaging is a slightly chunky oblong tube but the lid is easy to unscrew & the wand also easy to manoeuvre. I like the colour very much - #35 Cheeky - neutral, in the same toning but darker than my normal lip colour. Unfortunately, here's where the rest of it would make me think twice about buying the next time: 1. even an hour or two after I applied it, it still felt tacky/ sticky and because it didn't dry well - 2. it transferred onto glasses, tissues etc. and 3. I had to touch up the colour during the day a couple of times and 4. when it wasn't tacky, it also wasn't shiny & dried my lips out a bit.
Tips: Shake well before use & apply a thin coat. Reapply during the day rather than expecting it to last or trying to pile it on.
This was a tricky one for me, as while it did what it said it would, and stayed firmly on my lips, it was super tacky, as in 45 minutes later it was still there, sticking my lips together.. While this may not put everyone off, for a balm wearer only this was quite off putting and annoying. The colour was beautiful, and the formula went on really nicely, the applicator was a decent size but still thin enough to line the lip with ease. There was very little colour transfer, from the time of application right through to when I had to scrub it off in the shower. Overall this would be fantastic for weddings or special events where you want to apply and forget about it but for day to day wear I think it’s potentially a bit high octane, but if that’s your thing, then this is your lippy!
Tips: Perhaps try an oil cleanser to remove it as this stuff stays! General face cleanser was no match!
I love a pretty lippy to give me a pop of colour and add a bit of brightness to my face so I was stoked to of been selected for the Maybelline Superstay Vinyl Ink in the shade Coy (#20) which is a gorgeous mauve/pink.My first impression of the product was how bulky but cute the box-style recycled plastic packaging was.I didn't see any instructions written on the casing however there was a small sticker with the ingredients labeled in very tiny writing that almost required a magnifying glass to read so I just jumped online to the Maybelline website and discovered you actually have to shake the box-like packaging to activate the formula in order for the product to work correctly. The packaging was easy to open and close with a simple twist and the consistency was thin but not watery as such more in between and it was non-drip.I noticed a sweet vanilla like scent on opening which was not too overpowering and the product itself felt very moist and hydrating to apply on my lips,The brush was easy to use and glided nicely and smoothly over my lips creating a very pigmented bold look after just one swipe.I loved the colour pay off which left me with glossy shiny lips but I didn't like how sticky they felt especially after taking my first drink.I also didn't like the weird taste left on my lips almost like a perfume definitely not like vanilla.I did love how my lips appeared more plumper and fuller though and that the lippy did not sink in to any fine lines around my lips accentuating them more as some lippies tend to do.The product really does have lasting power and I found even after eating my lips still had quite a lot of pigment showing through but the glossy and shiny effect didn't last long and the stickiness was bugging me at times.I love the fact that it contains vitamin E and Aloe Vera to help with hydrating the lips and it's great that it's smudge and transfer proof but it's quite pricey for a "drugstore" lippy at around $30 a pop so I'm not sure if I would purchase this in the future due to the stickiness left on my lips.
Tips: Don't forget to shake shake shake to activate the formula in order for it work effectively. To tone down the bold colour you can easily blot with tissue for a more subtle matte look.
I am still torn on this product because it is really great but it makes some pretty lofty promises that it doesn’t 100% hold up too.
I wanted to trial a dark shade to really put it through its paces and the colour did not disappoint. The shade Royal is super rich and pigmented and goes on extremely opaque - no streaks at all.
The texture feels nice when applying, really smooth, but it quickly gets tacky if you put too much on. So you have to get it on fast and just one coat. It’s deceptive because it goes on glossy so feels like it will be more forgiving! The wand is quite big which is ok but you need to be confident when going in for clean lines with the dark shade. It dries with a pretty matte feel.
Once it dries things are interesting.. I would not consider this high gloss or vinyl once it dries. It’s certainly not matte, and I like it! But I’d hoped for a miracle with more shine.
Now the most important bit - the staying power!! I was pretty impressed! It does not smudge BUT it does come off from the inner lips with eating. Now to be fair I REALLY put it to the test and day one and ate ramen noodle soup! So yeah unfortunately no miracle and I was left with rather dark liner that truely wouldn’t budge! I couldn’t get it off!!
The next day I ate more reasonably for lipstick but still I did loose a bit on the inner lips over time.
Over-all that loss with eating is my only negative. It stays on incredibly well when not eating and I would say if you ate more politely than I did you might get 16 hours out of it - my lip line certainly did!
I’ll definitely keep using it and I’m keen to try a lighter shade!
Tips: Don’t apply too much!! It collects in the corners or your mouth
I loved the applicator on this lipstick. It really gave me precision applying the product. Great shade range. Mine transferred onto my coffee mug but I think that may have been because I had lip balm on underneath. Did last all day but found my lips were quite dry by the end of the day. Still recommend as the colour pay off was great
Thanks for choosing me for the trial of Maybelline Superstay Vinyl Ink. The packaging looks superb and attractive. The color is nice however I did not like the sticky feel of this lipstick when applied. I applied gloss to overcome the sticky lips but still it did not help. The superstay is not as great as other Maybelline lipsticks I have. Therefore, I will probably not buy anymore from this range.
