Maybelline The Colossal Cat's Eyes

It's a good mascara for using on top of other mascaras, for that final waterproofed touch. It seperates, and adds a lot of length, and the brush is nicely curved. Formula is a tad too wet though, so you need to have the patience to wait for it to dry.

I recently opened this (despite having far to many open already) because I was just in the mood to try something new and this caught my eye.

First of all I think the packaging is great. I love the leopard print on the lid and the bright yellow tube (great if your a makeup hoarder like me and need to be able to find it in the dark depths of your makeup draw haha).

The wand was a little weird to get used to I must say. I am used to the standard straight thick wand and this one rocks a funky curved (and quite thin) applicator. After a few goes I did get used to this and I think the design does help to separate the lashes well but doesn't give a more "cat eyed" look like promised, so I wouldn't recommend purchasing it for that reason alone. I do find the thinness of the brush makes getting the bottom lashes a bit easier though.

I was actually pretty happy with the results this gave me! I usually stick to very natural looking lashes and only apply very few coats even with a standard mascara. I find this gives my lashes great length with a couple of swipes and makes my lashes amazingly separated (just not voluminous at this point). The most recent time I used this I was going out at night so thought I would amp it up a bit and applied more coats. This definitely gave me very voluminous lashes (as well as lengthened) but just not as separated lashes as with less coats. I liked that despite the added coats it didn't clump terribly and my lashes only stuck together slightly (which usually happens anyway with added coats). The formula of this is super black and my tube wasn't as wet as I have found most maybelline mascara's to be, meaning it didn't get all over my top lid and ruin my eye-shadow (YAY!).

Overall, I think this is a pretty good mascara but I probably would not repurchase in store for the RRP (I got mine for far below that elsewhere) as it is still not my favourite.

This mascara separated my lashes, made them very black and super long! I've had this mascara for a while and the formula is still very watery, not think and chunky at all. This mascara has a wand that I love! I bought mine in waterproof, and it is truly waterproof! The only bad thing is that it is so hard to get off!

I bought this mascara purely because of the packaging. i love the cute leopard type print on the tube. The wand is small which I like because this means it is a lot easier to wiggle around and get mascara on every lash. This mascara is not clumpy at all and makes my lashes very long! With this I found that I get next to no volume and an eyelash curler is a must! Two coats of this mascara is all I need for long lashes, and with the small wand, I can get right into my inner and outer lashes. The only downside to the mascara that really annoys me is that it flakes during the day and is not wearable for long. The curl from the eyelash curler doesn't last long either and my lashes end up looking flat, while mascara is flaking all over my eyes. Using a coat of waterproof mascara helps prevent this, and if I remember I will usually pop waterproof mascara over top after my second coat of the colossal cat eyes mascara. I still use this mascara everyday as I do still really like it, but after it runs out I think I will look fot another one.

I purchashed this mascara after hearing a friend rave about it. I was not disappointed! Some people find the curved wand off-putting or annoying but I love it. It makes it sooo easy to apply to all of your lashes, it grabs onto all of them and separates the lashes nicely. The formula is quite thin so it doesnt clump easy yet its thick enough to give plenty of volume and length. The only problem I have with it is how difficult it is to remove. I have the waterproof one and I use an avon makeup remover but it has no effect, it just wont budge! Hence why even though I love the mascara I dont often reach for it as its such a struggle to remove it without pulling lashes out and irritating my eye area. Perhaps its just time to invest in a new makeup remover, that may do the trick?

I like the shape of the brush, it makes it easy to apply without getting it on your skin but I didn't find that it gave the amount of volume I was expecting. I like maybelline mascaras and would use again for everyday use but not to give dramatic or bold effects.

Got this at Countdown on clearance, it's hard to pass up a mascara from a well known brand at $6.99. The packaging is a pretty standard shape, the colour makes it really stick out though. I like the wand - it has a good shape. I don't like the smell of the product, it has a strong fragrance that just seems odd for a mascara. The product itself went on really well the first few times, and then seemed to clump up a little on the wand. Wiping it on the edge seems enough to keep it going though. It lasts well and builds up to a dramatic effect. Some mascaras sting my eyes, but I didn't have a problem with this one. The only thing I found a bit frustrating is towards the end of the day it starts to flake and when that gets in my eye it definitely stings. So for a shorter period, a night out say it is well worth it. I'm not sure if its the one I would pick at full price though.

I like this mascara. The wand is excellent, and the actual product is good, no strong smell. The only issue I had was with the lasting time. It seemed to go on great in the morning and then I'd get to about midday and my lashes would look flat and clumpy. Overall a good product but definitely not long lasting.

I do prefer the original Colossal - but this is not too bad but definitely not my favorite Maybelline mascara. But the packaging is very cute with the leopard design
