Maybelline Volume Express Mascara - Falsies Flared

This mascara was lovely for the first week or two and then dried out HUGELY. Such a shame as it really did work nicely and gave me a lot more volume and length on my lashes.

The brush is good as it gets all the lashes in one stroke and is easier for putting on the lower lashes as the curve goes with your eye so less smudges. I just wish it had lasted longer.

I don't think I've ever come across a mascara like this - it's not my absolute fave, but definitely earns its keep.

If I'm going for a quick/natural look then a coat of this does the trick but on an average day I love this as my first coat of mascara because it coats every lash from root to tip. It lengthens and separates my lashes beautifully, leaving them looking super fluttery. I then use another mascara layered over top to add volume.

The curved brush is big and fluffy, one of my favourite things about this mascara. The wand is slightly flexible, but it's hardly noticeable. I have the waterproof version and it doesn't smudge or flake, but is pretty easy to take off at the end of the day. It's a great, drier formula from day one which makes it super easy to work with.

The reason this mascara isn't my absolute fave is just because it doesn't give me a tonne of volume. It's not a big deal though because barely any mascaras give me everything I want, so I'm normally layering two mascaras anyway.

If you're a mascara layerer like me, this is a good cheap bottom layer option!

I've always been a Maybelline mascara fan. My very first mascara was good, old, reliable Maybelline Great Lash and then I discovered Maybelline's Lash by Lash mascara (this was back in the 90's), it had a tiny, thin wand that literally coated every lash and was my absolute favourite but unfortunately, it didn't stick around on the market for very long and ever since then, I've been in search of something similar.

Now, I'm not a fan of big, fluffy mascara wands. If possible, I'll check the size of the wand before I purchase the mascara but unfortunately, with this one it was sealed with a cardboard backing so I had to buy blindly.

Don't get me wrong, I love a mascara that delivers nice, full, individually coated lashes that look just like you're wearing falsies without the hassle, irritation and sometimes pain of having to actually wear falsies, so I was very excited to try this mascara.

The tube is quite chunky, as it seems that Maybelline is going through a "chunky" phase with all their mascara tubes (Great Lash aside) and the wand inside is flexible, curved, yet still full and quite fluffy. My first attempt at using this wand was an absolute disaster, I ended up with mascara everywhere! There's definitely a trick to holding the wand at the right angle in order to coat every single lash in one swoop.

Unfortunately, this time Maybelline let me down, big time. The curved wand doesn't suit every eye shape and no matter how hard I try with this wand, I always end up with mascara on my upper eyelid and have to touch up my eyeshadow again after applying my mascara. It doesn't matter how I hold the wand or how much I angle my head and look down into my mirror, some part of the curve always ends up touching my eyelid. It's so frustrating! I haven't had mascara application this messy since I first started experimenting with make-up.

Secondly, this mascara does not stay on my lashes. During the course of the day, it tends to migrate from my top lashes (I don't apply mascara to my bottom lashes) and onto the skin under my eye. Every time I wear this mascara, I end up with panda eyes. Not cool, Maybelline!

Needless to say, I won't be repurchasing or recommending this mascara to anyone. In the past few years, I've begun using a different mascara (brand, formula, etc.) each time I replace my mascara, which is every 3-6 months, the formula of this one isn't bad but it definitely has one of the worst mascara wands that I've come across in recent years.

This mascara gives my lashes amazing volume and makes them very dark and long. However, as with all volumising mascaras I have tried, it does clump a bit.

This is the mascara that I reach for the most these days. I just love how it really brightens my eyes up by even the smallest sweep. I feel like it really does make my lashes look longer and more definied. The wand is a little bit strange and took a couple of goes to get used to, however because of it's flexability it does help to stop over applying.

Like its sister product (the yellow and purple Mascara) it has always been my go to Mascara to buy ever since I was a teen. At the times of buying it, which was at a Comestics Clearance sale, I managed to pick it up at a MASSIVE discount price for $9 I think. Totally wrapped of the product ever since. Does the job

Who doesn't need a good lash-separating and volumising mascara? I love that this mascara does both and does not smudge onto my under-eye as some products tend to do. Love gifting this to my gal-friends as this product is reliable, good for its price and everyone that's tried it loves it!

Maybelline always makes pretty decent mascaras and this included. This is definitely one of those mascaras that get better after it's dried out a little bit, otherwise at first you can get a little too much product on the brush that makes your lashes clump.

I must go through so many different mascaras just to find the "one" and I always go back to Maybelline Falses as it is the only mascara that I have found that adds length and volumne to my satisfaction..It is easy to apply,doesn't clump or smudge and adds a decent amount of black colour to your lashes plus it stays put,doesn't flake and it comes off easily with a gentle eye makeup remover or face wash...It is often on special at various places and you can easily purchase it online too...I think I will always be a fan of Maybelline Falsies Mascara because it actually does make a difference to your lashes.
