I never use a traditional hair brush on my mid length, thick coloured hair. I usually just use a large wide tooth comb. I was a little bit hesitant to use this brush as my hair will frizz out when brushed. I was very pleasantly surprised as I used this brush, it didn't make my hair frizz and it was very easy to use on wet hair as well. It even got the seal of approval from the teenaged daughter, who has very thick and curly hair. It un tangled her hair with ease. Will continue to use. Very happy with this nice wee brush.

Mita GEMTIPS Detangling Brush Review
Each bristle is physically formed into a smooth round sphere, like a delicate gem, free of sharp edges. The ultra-soft flexible bristles are designed with heat formed tips to ensure the lifetime of the hairbrush.
The Mita GEMTIP detangling brush is super flexible with long & short thin bristles to remove tangles effortlessly, painlessly & reduce hair breakage. The two-length bristles work perfectly to detangle and massage the hair whilst massaging the scalp. The GEMTIP’s will also gently clean dandruff & dirt away from the scalp for healthier hair.
The GEMTIP’s are resistant to shampoo and conditioner to help to spread shampoo more evenly along the hair and rinse the shampoo away quickly without snagging or pulling on wet hair.
The Mita GEMTIP is suitable to use on wet or dry hair.
Reviews
When I first opened the package I was a little sceptical that this hairbrush would be able to detangle my hair as it looked kind of flimsy. But after using it I can see its flexibility coupled with the two different sized tips means it can glide easily through your hair! Using it on dry hair I wasnt a fan, my hair has been quite staticy lately and after brushing it with this it was even more so, my hair looked like I had put my hand in a socket and made that snap static noise as I was brushing.
For wet hair though this hairbrush is perfect! I've changed to using the curly hair method so always brush my hair with conditioner in and this brush felt so good on the scalp, like a mini massage. With shampoo I did find it struggled a little more with my tangles. It does leave my hair feeling so silky soft so is now my go to shower hairbrush.
Having the swirl design holding the tips means no slimey build up of product, it all just washes straight off. Also love the multi colours of the tips which with the rounded edges match the name!
I think the price point is pretty good for a hairbrush, as detangling brushes which are a lot smaller are around the same price.
Would 10/10 recommended for wet hair
The brush is attractively designed, it's a large white brush with pretty pastel rainbow coloured tips. The brush is quite large though so I think this would be a bit awkward to pop in your handbag or travel with. The tips themselves feel quite fragile (but they are described as ultra-soft and flexible) so I would worry about them potentially getting damaged if you need to travel with the brush.
I've used the brush on both dry and wet hair. The brush smoothes and detangles my dry hair really well, and actually left my hair feeling softer than other hair brushes I've used, I find it really provides smooth, silky results. The brush is gentle and I find it doesn't pull my hair out and I end up with almost no hair build-up in the brush. It does volumize my hair, I'm not a fan of volume as I already have super thick hair, but if you are wanting to add volume as well, this is the brush for you. When I've used this on wet hair, it's detangled my hair really well and didn't get clogged up with product. I also like the flexibility of the bristles and the brush head as it's easy to clean hair out of the brush and the way it's designed, hair and product don't really build up on it so it doesn't look like it would get manky. Overall, I think this hair brush is a good detangling brush and a good all-rounder hairbrush. I really enjoyed how well it smoothed my hair. I will happily continue to use it!
Mita's Gemtips Detangling Brush, is a white brush with a spiral slotted back, pastel bristles and a hole which could allow the brush to be hung from a hook.
My first impressions where that the pastel coloring makes the brush look childish, but the spring style back and the bristles were flexible and allowed for a successful hair brush that did detangle the hair better than my non-detangling hair brush.
The hairbrush is pitched for use on wet hair as well as dry, although personally I prefer a wide tooth comb, however this hairbrush does as it says and would work in a pinch.
As a brush to detangle my hair I like it better than my previous detangling hairbrushes as it's gentler and has a better handle. However it doesn't feel that robust and feels like it could break reasonably quickly.
I have tried several hair brushes over the years and always go back to my Denman. I have used both the Mita and my regular hairbrush my hair during this trial and found the Mita to be more gentle on the scalp and tangles, but my regular hairbrush to give the hair a nicer finish and feel more sturdy to hold and use.
However the Mita is at its core a detangling brush and it bet out my previous detangling brushes in an instant. It was much gentler and had a better shape and handle.
So as a detangling brush it is a winner, but it wouldn't make my regular hair brush obsolete.
Tips: If you get a lot of tangles this would be worth having in conjunction to your preferred regular hair brush.
What a funky brush! White with colourful bristles. It is super light weight due to its ergonomic design that moves and curves with the shape of your head as you brush. Having curly hair it can be a battle to untangle the knots, but with the GEMTIPS Detangling Brush my hair was easily detangled with little pulling and breaking of my hair. My hair was left felling smooth and soft.
I have really curly hair that has a mind of its own and quite hard to tame. Prior to using this brush, I was using the Mita TanglePro brush. I tried this brush on dry hair first, and I struggled a bit to get it through my hair. I found the bristles to be too flexible and it would kind of get tangled in my curls. I did eventually get all the knots out, but in the end, my hair was bigger than Diana Ross’. I did like how the brush performed when my hair was wet. When wet, it was so easy to detangle my hair. Especially when I was spreading conditioner through my hair! I’m sure it actually made the whole hair wash process slightly quicker, as I’m normally spending majority of the time getting knots out. Overall, loved the brush when my hair was wet or when I was washing my hair (just the conditioner part - I wasn’t game enough to try brushing with shampoo). Did not like when I dry brush. I’m going to definitely keep using this in the shower, but I’m going to stick to my Mita TanglePro. This brush will be perfect for my daughter who has quite straight hair, so she will probably enjoy this brush more than me.
Tips: No tips. But even though this review is not the most positive for the brush, I still recommend trying it. It’s so affordable, and if you don’t like it, there will be someone in your family who will :)
Just for context, my hair is very thick, curly and long, and I can never easily get a comb or brush through it, wet or dry. I tried the Mita brush on my dry hair, and while it was easier than a normal comb or brush would be, it still required tugging and holding sections to work it through to the ends, so it still felt like I was pulling and damaging my hair. In the shower, I tried it on my wet hair when it was full of conditioner, and here it was definitely a lot easier than with a comb, and less painful than what I usually do (tugging my fingers through my hair to get the knots out and distribute the conditioner). I still needed to work on the lower half a bit though, and pulling with a brush felt like it was causing more breakages than when I use my fingers to ease the tangles out. Once my hair was untangled, the brush did slip through it beautifully and really distributed the conditioner well. Overall for me, the brush is certainly smoother and better than any others I've tried, but it's not a life-changer. However, the fact that I could actually get it through my wet hair relatively painlessly is pretty amazing. If your hair is less thick and curly than mine, I imagine this brush would be brilliant. The flexing brush head is really nice, sort of shaping itself to your head as you brush, giving your scalp a bit of a stimulating massage. My husband (short, medium-thick hair) decided to try it, and he really liked the massage thing and the smooth, non-scratchy bristles. So it looks like it's going to be his from now on (!) - although I might borrow it from time to time when I want to really get my conditioner nicely distributed.
Tips: If you have straight or wavy hair, I'd give this brush a try for wet or dry brushing. If your hair's curly, maybe try it for wet brushing, but let your conditioner sit in your hair for a while to create better slip before you pull the brush through.
Every gal lives a hairbrush, and a "free" hair brush is even better! Its a beautiful white brush that contrasts lovingly with the colorful bristles.
I am not used to the fandangly back that moves with your head as you brush. I don't know if i like it or not. I've used it daily since receiving, both morning and night, and I'm still very.. ?? About it. However in the shower with wet hair, the moving back works to the users advantage.
I'm very used to my tangle teeze brush, so using this is very different. It does glide through hair effortlessly, and it seems to gently snag my tangles and undo them with the fingers of a loving mother.
In the shower its a huge NO for me. It certainly does brush shampoo!! Through the hair easily, as well as conditioner, but the amount of fallout/breaking/damaged hair that came with it was not cool. I don't even get that amount when i bleach my roots. So for a brush that claims to minimize these problems, I'm not impressed. It does not do it while dry, though, but it was also not specified.
I have not noticed my hair being any cleaner but it does feel slightly nicer from the massage the bristles give. Mr Shaz brushed his hair and it afro'd out (he has curly hair) but he quite likes it. I also like it for brushing baby Shaz's hair.
I like this brush, but i don't think I'm a fan of the moving back, and i am certainly not using this in the shower again.
Tips: Great for combing hair masks through wet or dry hair :)
I'll start by saying that I prefer using this brush only in the shower.
I found it to be difficult to use when my hair is dry, the bristles being so flexible, meant the brush would just get stuck when I reached a tangle point in my hair and they wouldn't brush through without a lot of effort.
In the shower however, it brushed through my wet hair easier, especially when the water was running while I brushed it. It was also good for spreading shampoo and conditioner through my hair. Because the bristles are long, I could really massage my scalp witn the brush and get a deeper clean than I would've with my fingers alone.
Another thing I noted was the handle got a bit uncomfortable to hold after a while, but my hair is very long so it takes me longer to brush it than most. I would've prefered a rounder handle.
Hair is relatively easy to remove from the brush between uses and as the design has spiral gaps, it is very simple to wash which is great.
Overall, I think this is a good brush for use on wet hair at an affordable price. I would recommend it for this purpose and I will continue to use it in the shower.
Tips: If you have a lot of knots and tangles, brush hair starting from the ends and work your way up in sections, this way any knots or tangles don't get bunched up at the ends. This is a general tip for brushing hair, not specifically related to this brush only.
So glad I found this brush, having previously used detangler brushes with mixed results, this one does the job really well, so well that I got one for my daughter (who has very long hair), and a smaller one for my travel bag (I have medium length, fine curly hair). Highly recommend this brush not only does it do the job it’s also easy to clean too. Have recommended it to friends as well.
Tips: Works well on wet and dry hair.
